THE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Chartered: 3-9-89

Volume 27 issue 3 March 2015

Greetings to the Dolphin Family

Here we are in March 2015. Spring is around the corner and warmer weather is ahead. Weeds are growing that need

to be eradicated, gardens are being planted, income tax preparation should be complete, and discussions on where to

drive our RV are being finalized. Anne and I just returned from several days in a beautiful Riverside County Park.

Being there in the middle of the week was great. We selected a full hook-up site with a cement pad surrounded by

green grass. They also offered spots more rustic with water, electricity, and furnished cabins.

I visited one of our members Dick Callister who is recovering from his fall and subsequent accident while trimming

trees. He was at a recovery facility in San Marcos when I visited and had been there on his back for eight weeks. Both

Dick and his lovely nurse Cynthia were in good spirits and hope to receive the approval to move him home. He is

receiving calls at 760 522 8846. Hopefully by the time you read this he is home. Dick said to say hi to his friends.

I know that we have several military veterans in our club, and am proud to pass this along: “Free Buffet for Military

at Harrah’s Casino. All active and former military receive two FREE buffets! Harrah’s Resort would like to thank

those of you in the armed forces for your service. Please visit the Total Rewards center, provide us with your email

address and bring your active Military ID or DD214 to receive two complementary buffets for joining this program.

Plus you’ll start receiving monthly bonus offers in your inbox. It’s our small way of saluting those who have given so

much. Look for more rewards for our troops coming soon! “

March is a busy month for the club. T.J. and Marilyn Hewlett are having a pre rally at East Shore RV Park in San

Dimas prior to the FMCA 1st Family Reunion at the Pomona Fairgrounds . This is a great way for members to get

together and go in together so they can camp together at a large event. Unfortunately Anne and I will be unable to

attend, but this should be a good time for all.

April, 2015 the membership is heading to Yuma AZ. Spoke to PJ (Peter Giammaria, and Marlyn Ryding our hosts)

our Rally Boss and he is finalizing plans for the Shangri-La Resort at Yuma Arizona. This will be our first time at this

location and I know that everyone is looking forward to it. There is so much to do in the Yuma area. April 16-19 is

just around the corner and we should have great weather.

May brings us to another popular location. Dave/Sandy Smith and Sandy/Lynn Mayer are our trail bosses for Pismo

Coast RV Park from the 7th to the 10th. The last I heard there were over 20 reservations.

There is still time for additional outings. The calendar is not full for this year or next. Please consider being

a trail boss. I am sure that you have some great RV locations in mind that you would like to share.

Anne and I look forward to seeing you down the road,

Leon Schwartz, President

DOLPHIN CLUB MEMBER INJURED

One of our Dolphin Club Members, Richard Callister was injured in

December while pruning trees in his back yard. A large tree limb fell on

him crushing his pelvis. He has been in the hospital at San Marcos, CA

for treatment and rehabilitation and still has a long ways to go. He

hopes to be home the end of March. Dolphin club members may get

updates of his condition at caringbridge.org .

Hello Fellow Dolphin Club Members

I can’t hardly believe that March is around the corner. Each year seems to fly by faster

than the last, and each day becomes more precious. In a couple weeks we will be

celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, and I’m sure that I will be singing “Danny Boy” more

than once that day.

I decided to look up what I could find on the Internet concerning St. Patrick’s Day.

It occurs each year on March 17, a day of both cultural and religious celebration.

Allegedly the day commemorates the day that St. Patrick arrived in Ireland. If you will recall, last year I

told you a few facts concerning how Patrick came to arrive in Ireland. He came from a religious background

and according to legend, the three-leaf shamrock served to explain the Holy Trinity. While we don’t all

wear shamrocks on March 17, we generally feel it necessary to wear green. The wearing of a shamrock was

proof of support for the nationalist movement. Thus, if you weren’t wearing green, you set yourself up for

punishment-today it is little more than a pinch.

Why is it common to drink on St. Patrick’s Day? Apparently the British government passed a law requiring

all pubs and bars to be closed on that day. Likely out of protest, everyone drank to excess. In 1970 the

government wisely repealed the ordinance, but the drinking has continued. So, how ‘bout a pint of ale to

celebrate the day?

See you somewhere on the road.

Your VP

Steve Justice
