Patrick Gale has written two collections of short stories and
fifteen novels. His thirteenth novel, Notes from an Exhibition,
was the Independent Booksellers’ Association Adult Book of
2008 and a Richard and Judy Book Club selection.
Rough Music, A Sweet Obscurity and Friendly Fire are beginning
to win him a European following, thanks to successful transla-
tions into French and Dutch.
The Whole Day Through, published in 2009, was a Sainsbury’s
Book Club choice and a Radio 4 Book at Bedtime. His latest
novel is A Perfectly Good Man, published by Harper Collins in
March 2012.
A keen musician, Patrick is a cellist in the Penzance Orchestral
Society and sings at the St. Endellion Summer Festival.
Perhaps you’ve always wanted to write a novel but don’t know where to start? Perhaps you loved writing stories at school but somehow lost the confidence to continue? Novelist Patrick Gale will help you reconnect with your imagination and find the courage to take up your pen again.
Mornings will be spent working as a group, using a
mix of writing exercises and readings. Every student
will have one afternoon tutorial alone with Patrick.
