Welcome to TERM 2 WEEK 8
Movie Night
Mrs Adey and Mrs Speirs have reported that Movie Night was a huge success with lots of yummy pizza and popcorn, comfy pyjamas, special pillows and blankets and a great movie. Thank you to the P& C for organising such a fun night.
Regional Cross Country
On Friday Luna will be travelling to Kempsey for the Regional Cross Country Carnival. It is a great achievement to make it this far. We are very proud of Luna and wish her the best of luck.
More Chicken News
The final count from proud mother hen has ended up at seven. Four black and three yellow chicks are already entering the awkward teenage stage and happily eating Mrs Adey out of house and home. Mrs Adey has been inundated with offers for a good home for each of the chicks, so much so that it has been decided that we will have to draw names out of a hat to make the final decision. If you have a genuine (that is, a parent’s or carer’s okay) offer of a home please let Mrs Adey know by the end of next week. To cover some of the many expenses Mrs Adey has encountered during this exciting project there will be a $5 dollar purchase price for each chicken.
Athletics Carnival
The students have been very busy practicing for the Athletics Carnival next Friday. The senior students have been very helpful teaching the Stage One students the ball games that will be held on the day and organising the relay teams. During the next two weeks Mr Farlow will be running the field events. Shot Put and Discus will be finalised before the Carnival next Friday and Long Jump and High Jump heats will take place during the week, with finals being held on the day.
Virtual Reality Finalised
Our virtual reality lessons have unfortunately now finished as the kits have been sent on to another school. What a fantastic opportunity it was to have access to this technology. The students certainly learnt many new and exciting skills as well being able to experience for themselves some very special locations from around the world. Thank you to Mrs Speirs and Mrs Adey for taking the time to learn about this technology and share their knowledge with us all over the past 7 weeks.

High School Orientation
Next week our Year 6 students will once again travel to Maclean High School for their second Year 7 Orientation Day.
These days are always very interesting and a great opportunity for the students to become more familiar with the High
School environment as well as make friends from the many different schools that attend.
Good Bye and Good Luck Miss B
This week is the final week of Miss B’s prac on 5/6. Miss B has been a wonderful member of our school community during her prac. We wish her much success and joy for her teaching career which is about to begin. Hopefully we will see her back amongst us soon, we would certainly love to see her work here as a casual teacher. Thankyou Miss B.
Mr Farlow’s Back
That was the cry heard around the playground last Friday. Mr Farlow will be teaching 5/6 during Mr Speirs’ leave for the remainder of the term. It is a lovely testament to Mr Farlow’s experience and time here at Chatty that the students are still so excited to see him each time he returns. Welcome back Mr Farlow.
Jumpers and Hats
With the ever changing weather it is important that the students have both a jumper and hat at school at the moment. Many students are forgetting their hats during the recent cold morning starts, however our “No Hat, No Play” policy is still in place and students who do not have a hat will not be allowed to play out in the unshaded open playground. The cold start and warm days also mean that we are finding that lots of jumpers are being left at school at the end of each day. Having clearly labelled equipment not only makes it much easier for teachers to make sure that uniforms are returned home, it also helps students take responsibility for their own belongings.
Have a great week
Yvette West.
