YEARBOOK: Thank you so much for all the pictures you all have uploaded so far. I have stored through over 1,000 pictures. Please continue to get those uploaded. I ask that if anyone has Grandparents Day, 2-5 Grade Musical, Christmas parties, and any early childhood pictures to upload them to ReplayIt or bring them to the school on a flash drive. Thank you so much!

TAX STATEMENTS: If you would like a printout of your payments to First Lutheran School during 2015 for tax purposes, please stop by the office/send me a FastDirect-mail/or call the school at 762-9950. You can also print them off yourself by logging into your FastDirect account, scroll down to the bar that says “2007 Tax Year Printout”, change the year to 2015, and click the box that has “Tax Year Printout” in it. This will include school-related expenses only; summer daycare tax statements must be requested from daycare. Remember that not all payments to FLS are tax deductible, and you should contact a tax advisor to find out what can be written off, and what cannot.

TAX STATEMENTS FOR SUMMER DAYCARE should be requested from Daycare. The tax statements that you get through the office only include charges for the school year, not summer daycare.

FIRST LUTHERAN SCHOOL CHESS CLUB will meet each Wednesday morning at 7:15 in the First Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall beginning Wednesday, February 3. There is a one-time fee of $35 to help cover the cost of chess sets and clocks for the club, as well as the student’s very own scorebook. Entry forms were attached to last week’s Chatter and are due in to the school office before Friday, January 22; copies are available in the office. For more information, please contact Jennifer Vaughan at 580-716-1931 or [email protected], and be sure to like us on Facebook: Chess Club - First Lutheran School.

PRINCIPAL - Mr. Birnbaum: Joke of the week - What do snowmen eat for breakfast? Answer - Frosted Flakes Chapel offerings for this quarter are going to help the Pastor Ed Hosch family. The children attended our school in

2nd & 5th grade last quarter. Now they are witnessing Christ to the people of Peru for as long as the Lord chooses. Please consider sending an offering to Chapel to help them or canned food for our food bank to help those in need in Ponca City. May God bless you as you are a blessing to others.

MIDDLE SCHOOL 1/27 7:30 FLSCA 2/20 8th & 9th Grade Pepperette Winter Dance, 7:00, Hutchins

Mrs. Goll: Good luck, Basketball players, as you continue to play in your tournaments and games. Also, Good Luck, Scholars, as you compete in the school geography bee, the regional spelling bee, and the MathCounts competition. What a blessing it is to see you students shine in so many endeavors! In math, 6th is studying ratios and proportions; 7th is studying inequalities; pre-algebra is starting a unit on percentages; and algebra is using substitution to solve systems of equations. God bless you as you strive to give Him the glory this week and always.

Mrs. Harbeson: Greetings! I hope you enjoyed your three-day weekend. Everything is running smoothly in language. We have our second round of spelling and vocabulary tests coming up tomorrow, sixth and seventh classes have language tests coming up, and eighth graders received their new book. Seventh graders have also received their project information for this quarter. If you haven't already, ask your student which project he or she has chosen to do. Lots of basketball tournaments are scheduled for the next month. Please check to see how you can help. Stay warm! Blessings on the rest of your week!

Mrs. Hanson: We are starting tournament season which means all of us will be very busy, so let's manage our time well and remember school comes first!

7th grade parents, please remember to sign up to work the tournament next week and to send concession provisions to school with the kids by Friday.

I will also have the fundraising numbers up from past fundraisers on my website, so check it out to see how much you have already raised and how much you still need to go!

All classes will be doing labs and activities to reinforce concepts. Please ask your student to explain one of these new concepts.

We will also continue quizzing over vocab by the end of the week. Mr. Covert: I hope and pray today that everyone found the long break relaxing, and now that it’s over, we’re ready

to pick up right where we left off! 8th grade is wrapping up our look at Pre-Civil War America. Our next step is to take a look at the split itself as it

occurred, and then the Civil War. In 7th grade, we’re starting our unit on Europe in the Western half of the continent, such as the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. 6th grade is still in Rome, looking at the fall of the Roman Republic, and the rise of the Roman Empire.

I pray that God blesses us all this week and continuously as we continue to grow in knowledge of Him and all He has done for us!

help! The best way to make sure that we have pictures of your child in the yearbook,

is to submit your pictures! Replay It is a free app from Jostens that is used to

share photos to the yearbook staff. We have an account set up, and once you

download the app and link it to our school, you will be able to upload pictures right

then and there; it is incredibly easy to use. NO more saving the photos to a flash

drive, tracking someone down to give it to, and worrying about getting it back. The

pictures only take seconds to upload and share with everyone. If you forget your

camera at a school event, you may go out and look at all the photos submitted by

other school families. So please download the app today and start sharing your
