Narrative

Immune responses are incredibly complex, involving the coordination of many effector molecules,

expressed across a wide variety of cell types. Because of this complexity, the cell profiles that predict

effective immune responses are often unclear, particularly early after infection or vaccination.

My work aims to identify the T-cell responses that provide early biomarkers for effective immunity.

I do this by developing and applying cutting-edge technologies that characterize - at the single cell level -

immune cells fimmune cells from well-defined clinical settings (vaccination, natural HIV infection, lymphoma). Using

highly multiplexed transcriptomic and proteomic approaches, I interrogate cells in an unprecedented,

comprehensive manner. My goal is to reveal clear, clinically relevant, and actionable “multidimensional”

biomarkers. This work requires multi-disciplinary expertise, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams

that include clinical researchers, basic scientists, engineers, and computational biologists.
