Catching Up With Mr. G. Estrella Colores Oxnard ­ Mr.Galaviz became a P.E. teacher here at Chavez two years ago. He became a P.E. teacher because he loves sports and likes working with middle school and high school aged students. He was born in Camarillo, on May 17,1988. In his free time he likes to go to movies and restaurants. His favorite food is his mom’s homemade mole and also potatoes(mashed or fried). He likes to play baseball, football, and basketball. Mr. G will be the boys soccer coach this spring.

This kills many animals such as orangutans, elephants, tigers and monkeys. PepsiCo, the company that makes Cheetos, promises to start using plantation grown palm oil by 2020. Until then the environment must suffer.

JAW BREAKERS Christopher Lopez World­The jawbreaker is a type of hard, round candy that is ideally so difficult to bite down on that it must be sucked. The jawbreaker can range in size from that of a pea to that of a golf ball. They come in a variety of flavors and colors. They are popular with children and are often sold in vending machines. In ancient times the method of making jawbreakers from the boiled syrup of the sugarcane plant. This spread from India through the Arab world. Today, jawbreakers are enjoyed throughout the world over.

Stained Glass Arli Rodriguez Europe­ The technology for making stained glass windows dates back at least 5,000 years. Some form of stained glass was used in European Christian churches by the third or fourth century A.D. The the decorative glass illustrated stories from the bible so that the illiterate masses could understand the religious teachings. The art of stained glass flowered in the 12th century with the rise of the Gothic cathedral. Today only 10% of all stained glasses are used in churches and other religious buildings; the rest are used in residential and industrial architecture.

War in Syria Christian Juarez Syria­The Syrian Civil War started in spring 2011. Syrians began protesting against the government of Syrian president Bashar al­Assad because he was taking violent actions against his people. He used the military to take action against the Syrian people. 55,000 people have died in Syria including 21,000 civilians.

THE RAZO REPORT Underwater Ironman Armando Razo Canada­In today’s Razo Report I will discuss underwater exploration. An underwater suit has been developed that will push the boundaries of undersea exploration. T. Nuytten has designed a 530­pound aluminum­alloy dive suit that will allow divers to work up to a 1,000 feet under water. As a teen Nuytten showed rare talent for designing dive suits. "It's kind of like 'Iron Man' come to life," Nuytten told CNN recently from Vancouver, British Columbia. The suit has thrusters like the superhero.Think about what it must be like. It's very cold and basically dark. At that depth, it's too far for any significant sunlight to see.

Kendrick Lamar and J Cole Christian Alejandre New York­ Kendrick Lamar and J Cole are two great Hip Hop artists. They will be making an album soon together. The album will be called Reminisce. In this reporter’s opinion, Kendrick Lamar’s best song is Swimming Pools (Drank). I also believe that Power Trip ft. Miguel is J Cole’s best song.

Zika Outbreak Lindsey Quezada Brazil­ In May 2015, the Pan American Health Organization issued an alert regarding the first confirmed Zika virus infection in Brazil. On Feb 1, 2016 the World Health Organization declared Zika virus a public health emergency of international concern. Officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Wednesday that there was now enough evidence to definitively say that the Zika virus could cause unusually small heads and brain damage in infants born to infected mothers. In some cases, there are no symptoms. In pregnant woman, it may cause subsequence birth defects. A link between Zika and paralysis is being investigating. There’s no vaccine or specific treatments.

Boys Soccer Ready To Roll! Ricardo Ayala Oxnard­ The boys soccer team is preparing to do battle for another season lead by Coach Galaviz. They will be taking on 23 teams this season. Games will be from 4 to 6pm in Camino Del Sol Stadium. Come check them out!!!

KOBE BRYANT SAYS GOODBYE Clarissa Gutierrez Los Angeles­ Kobe Bean Bryant is a former professional basketball player who played his whole entire life with the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe Bryant played for 20yrs and ended his career at the age of 37. Kobe Bryant played his last game at Staple Center on 4/13/16 and took the win. Kobe’s last game was sold out. Many celebrities went to his last basketball game including Kanye West, Jay Z, The Weekend, David Beckham, and many more. At the end of the game he went to his last press interview and he thanked his coach and his fans. Kobe thanked everyone from the bottom of his heart for supporting him for everything.

Hover Boards Jacqueline Pena Oxnard­ A hoverboard is a levitating board used for personal transportation, popularized by the Back to the Future film franchise.

Hoverboards are generally depicted as resembling a skateboard without wheels. These amazing rides may become reality very soon. On 24 December 2015, ARCA Space Corporation claimed it developed a hoverboard named Arca­Board, and the batteries can provide energy enough for six minutes of hovering. The hoverboard uses powerful fans to push the rider up in the air. Some day soon we all may be hovering about in our daily lives!

North Korea: Pushing Our Buttons

Ricardo Ayala Korea­ North korea, which conducted a fourth nuclear test in January, can learn from a deal struck between Iran and world powers to freeze its nuclear program U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Tuesday. North Korea which regularly threatens the United States and rich democratic South Korea also conducted a long range rocket launch in February. The United States hopes that the North Koreans will end their threats and come to a peaceful solution. Peace Out North Korea!
