Water/Ways & Sharing YourWater Stories at your Library
“Water/Ways”, an exhibition from the Smithsonian’s Museumon Main Street, explores the relationship between people andwater. It explores the centrality of water in our lives includingits effect on the environment and climate, its practical role inagriculture and economic planning, and its impact on culture andspirituality. “Water/Ways” is part of Museum on Main Street, aunique collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution TravelingExhibition Service (SITES), state humanities councils acrossthe nation, and local host institutions. WDFPL looks forward to hosting “Water/Ways” March 2 throughApril 11, 2020. The Smithsonian’s Water/Ways exhibition divesinto water – an essential component of life on our planet,environmentally, culturally, and historically.We will be looking for communityvolunteers to dive in as well. It’s amazing how quickly the summer months fly by!Summertime - a time for relaxation, fun, friends, &adventure. A little bit of all of these were found at theWest Deptford Free Public Library this summer. Our childrenand teen summer reading programs and family events werewell attended as everyone explored “A Universe ofStories”. I’d like to thank the wonderful West Deptfordlibrary staff and all of our residents who participated inthese programs making them such a success.
As the summer winds down, I’d like to encourage youto stop by the library and check out one last beach read,view our exhibits, plan a day trip by borrowing one of ourmany museum passes, or inquire about our fall programs.If you don’t have a library card, please make sure to dropby and sign up. The summer is behind us and Fall is here.We have had a great summer and are readyto move into the busy Autumn season. Wehave so many new activities coming up inthe next year that we just can’t wait to shareeverything with you.
We hope you had a chance to check outthe Wedding Gown display in the librarygallery. It has been a very popular display andthere were so many new gowns to showcasethis year. Thank you everyone for thewonderful comments on our gown collection.
With the new school year beginning, we are showcasing West Deptford Schoolsboth in our showcase at the library and at West Deptford Day. Did you stop by ourdisplay? We enjoy talking with all of you.
Keep checking in at the library for updates on what is happening with us. Ourfall activities will be posted and we will be preparing for our Annual ChristmasLights Bus Tour…always a sold out event.
