TUESDAYMixed Media, Picasso Style Paint cats like Picasso in either primary or intermediate colors. Draw the cat’s face, frontal and profile, with eyes of different sizes or shapes and ears. Try drawing with eyes closed, using lines to produce a rooster in glue and pastels, then blend the colors to achieve depth. Students will learn fun techniques to reacreate Picasso’s signature style.

Polymer Clay Miniature FoodClimb into a miniature kitchen and create a feast of fancy dishes. A picnic of hot dogs and watermelon? Spaghetti & meatballs? Or perhaps pancakes with syrup and bacon. You’ll never want this class to end.

Polymer Clay Fairy House Make an adorable tiny fairy house complete with accessories. Learn the magic of polymer clay as you roll, pinch and slice.

WEDNESDAYSunny Sunflowers and Poppin’ PoppiesEnjoy some outside time while creating these flowers, using tools like Q-tips to texture the center of the sunflower. Watercolor, oil, pastels, and your imagination will make these flowers shine. We will experiment in this fun, colorful class.

Open Studio with Miss SueThis open studio class offers you the freedom to work on ANY project you want! Come to class with a project in mind and Miss Sue will help you develop and finish your artwork at your own pace. This is a chance to experiment with new mediums, practice new skills, and develop your personal artistic style!

Summer PotteryLearn ceramics in this exciting 4-week class! Teaching artist Adama Sow will cover basic wheel-throwing, hand-building, sculpture, and glazing techniques. Students must be able to attend ALL classes in order to register.

Tie-Dye 2-Day WorkshopTie-Dye is a fun and fabulous way to add color to your life! We’ll talk a little chemistry and history while we dye. Participants should bring 2-4 100% cotton T-shirts/garments, new or used. Dress for mess.

Creative Clay CupsMake a set of cups out of clay! You’ll use hand-building techniques and tools to create texture and details. Fired clay projects will be ready approximately two weeks after class.

Amazing Artists: Henri MatisseFrench artist Henri Matisse was a master of pattern and color! Learn to make a colorful cut-paper collage and patterned paintings in his style. Look for other Amazing Artists lessons with Lisa this summer and build your knowledge of art history!

H’Art of PhotographyEnjoy the heart and art of photography in two very full sessions! Learn how to zoom in, zoom out, and what to focus on for the best effect. Capture lighting with shadows, sunlight, and flash. We will print your photos in color plus black and white, then the artistry begins!  You will bring several of your masterpieces home with you!Bring from home: a digital camera you are familiar with, plus batteries fully charged. Let the office know 1 week in advance if you need to borrow a camera.

WEDNESDAY:Art Passports: Art of IndiaContinue your summer art adventure by making art inspired by Indian cultures. We will explore different mediums and techniques as we celebrate the architecture and animals of India. Look for more world culture art lessons with Lisa and earn a specially-designed sticker and passport!

ShiboriLearn this Japanese textile treatment that involves folding, twisting, bunching, binding, and dipping cloth in dye to produce lovely patterns. Dress for mess.

Embroided ShirtGive new life to old (or new) clothing by learning to hand stitch embellishments. You can stitch anything from your zodiac sign to a soccer ball. Templates will be provided, but free hand is also encouraged! Bring an item of clothing to class.

Makerspace: Bottle SculptureWhat kind of creature can you make with a plastic bottle, basic art supplies, and a variety of craft materials? Come to this class and find out! With imagination – and a hot glue gun – there’s no limit to what you can make!

THURSDAY Cookie Cutter WatercolorUse cookie cutters to create a unique watercolor collage. Trace your favorite cookie cutters as stencils. Watercolor inside or outside of these lines – choose your own adventure!

Make Your Own Monster StuffieDesign your character, cut it from cloth, stuff it and decorate it with a world of embellishments.

“Painting” with Wool Explore the world of wool fiber and create a needle felted “painting”. Learn how a simple cookie-cutter shape can be transformed into a colorful 3D sculpture or hanging orna ment. You’ll make 1-2 works in class and take home some tools for future interest.

TUESDAYColorful Textile Wall HangingUsing permanent markers and a fun dye technique, we will create colorful designs on white fabric, then tear the fabric into strips and tie them onto a branch to create a beautiful, organic wall hanging.

Colored Pencil Abstract Animals Get inspired by paper cut-outs and coloring book images to create a brilliant abstract animal. You will work with an animal outline created from a template provided in class. Fill in your animal with dazzling patterns and textures!

Amazing Artists: Georgia O’KeefeGeorgia O’Keeffe lived to be 99 years old and is one of the most important American artists in history. Through picture books and art-making we will learn about this important American artist and the BIG flowers and desert landscapes she painted.

WEDNESDAY Art Passports: Art of the AmericasLearn about native art traditions from North, South and Central America. We will use paper, textiles, and paint to create colorful cultural arts. Beginning Painting With PicassoLearn the styles of two famous artists inspired by the book, “When Pigasso Met Mootisse.” Bold lines, intense colors, and crazy shapes will make you laugh as you create cubist faces like Picasso. You will also paint a funky bowl of fruit in the style of Matisse. Ages 6 and up welcome!

Upcycled Knotted RugCraft a neat accessory for your room! This rug is made from scrap fabric that you will transform into a work of art. You will also play games and get to know each other as you create.

Loveable LlamasUse a variety of art materials to make art inspired by this popular and funny South American pack animal. We will draw, color, and craft the day away as we make cute and colorful llama art.

THURSDAYBecome a World Labyrinth Explorer! (Two Class Series)Embark on a treasure hunt across the WBCA labyrinth and grounds! Follow clues, uncover labyrinth “art-i-facts,” and make discoveries. Later, explore a variety of finger labyrinths and learn about their history, design, and uses. Discover why a labyrinth is not the same as a maze and create your own labyrinth in class!

Collaborative Dinosaur DioramaWork together to create a lost, magical, Jurassic world! Each student will have a job to create different parts of this landscape and learn interesting facts along the way. We will use mixed media to create an otherworldly world!

Paint a PetPaint an abstract portrait of a pet or animal from a photo. Use color to express the personality of your furry friend! This class will help you to explore creative uses of acrylic paint. No experience necessary. Please bring an 8x10 reference photo of your animal.

TUESDAYAmazing Artists: Frida KahloLearn about Mexican artist Frida Kahlo by making colorful art inspired by her art and life. Whether drawing, painting or crafting we will use bright colors and traditional Mexican folk-art motifs to celebrate this amazing artist.

Batik Art Create a hand-dyed wall hanging or curtain. Batik is similar to tie-dye. Learn this simple, traditional technique to create your own funky fabric!

Animal Pinch PotsCreate adorable animal mini-pots using earthenware clay. We will learn some basic hand-building techniques while making cute pots to hold your tiniest treasures. Pieces will be fired and ready for pick-up a couple weeks after the class. Class limit: 12 students. Sign up early!

Clay Fairy HouseLegend has it that if you build a fairy house and place it in a suitable area, a fairy will come to live there. We’ll design a nice house and create furniture and accessories. Fired projects will be ready in approximately 2 weeks after class.

Alcohol Ink FlowersMix these special inks to create a vibrant marbled effect reminiscent of tie-dye. Try them on Yupo paper and ceramics. Dress for mess.

TUESDAYPaper Mache Pets (Two Day Class)Make your own cat or dog sculpture with newspaper and recyclables! The first day we will build the basic structure, and then cover it with layers of paper and glue. The second day we will take the dried sculpture and add color, pattern and detail with paint and craft materials. Class limit: 8 students. Sign up early!

Create a Play: Magic School BusCreate and perform an original play based on the theme Magic School Bus! Work collaboratively with your peers to develop the story, setting, characters, dialogue, and staging. Throughout this process-driven class experience, you will engage in theatre games and activities to hone your artistic skills. Perform your play for family and friends on the final day of class at 11:30 AM.

Duct Tape Woven Shoulder Bag Pick your favorite patterns of duct tape to create a fabulous one-of-a-kind bag. You’ll weave together tape strips, add a strap & pockets, and then finish with a nifty magnet closure. Then you can make a matching wallet, pouch, and keychain!

Amazing AcrylicsLearn all the basics of acrylic painting and become an artist! We will learn about materials, mixing colors, brush techniques, and will also cover how to clean up.

Duct Tape Flowers Make flowers using colorful duct tape & a few other basic materials. Then use your duct tape know-how to create flowers!

Clay PortraitsUsing earthenware clay, we will learn basic hand-building techniques and create whimsical portraits in both slab and cylinder forms. With line, shape, color and texture, we will create cool clay art with lots of personality. Pieces will be fired and ready for pick-up a couple weeks after the class. Class limit: 12 students. WEDNESDAY Makerspace: Dolls Around the WorldDolls are made in many cultures around the world. We will make dolls using found objects, basic art supplies, and various craft materials in a makerspace setting where you can move from station to station making many kinds of dolls.

Melted Crayon CanvasUsing a hot glue, a heat gun, and crayons we’ll create a bright conversation piece for your wall.

THURSDAY Serti Silk PaintingCreate an elegant painting on silk! The Serti method involves applying a gutta resist (thick substance made from latex), then painting with fabric dye. Dress for mess.

Owl Sock SculpturesLearn some basic sewing techniques then make your own stuffed owls using colorful socks! We will stuff, sew, and decorate our adorable owls and place them on a branch for display. Class limit: 8 students. Sign up early!

Clay Cactus GardenCreate a desert cactus garden out of clay! Use hand building techniques and colorful glazes to bring your garden to life. Projects will be available for pick-up approximately two weeks after class.

WEDNESDAYDesert Landscapes with WatercolorsThe desert will come alive with the brilliant colors of a sun setting over the hills. Learn texturing techniques using salt and wax paper to make lifelike rock. Make a flowering cactus with oil pastels with a watercolor background in the style of Georgia O’Keefe. Step by step instructions make these projects fun and easy for all!

Art Passports: African ArtExplore this colorful continent through art inspired by cultural traditions. We will use various materials and learn new techniques to create bright, colorful art inspired by the diverse people and animals of Africa. Colorful Bird MobilesUsing bright cardstock, we will draw and cut out simple bird or animal shapes. We will fold the flat shapes into 3D forms, then hang them on a circular frame to create artwork with color and movement.

Open Studio with Miss SueThis open studio class offers you the freedom to work on ANY project you want! Come to class with a project in mind and Miss Sue will help you develop and finish your artwork at your own pace. This is a chance to experiment new mediums, practice new skills, and develop your personal artistic style!

TUESDAY Celebrate Cityscapes!Learn to make cityscapes using a variety of different drawing and painting materials. From simple silhouettes to 2-point perspective, we will learn the basics of laying out a striking cityscape.

Paper Quilling Learn techniques for rolling narrow strips of paper into 3D shapes that can be used to create larger designs. Create unique cards, gift tags, pictures, or box tops.

Pottery on the WheelEnjoy throwing on the pottery wheel and creating bowl forms. We will learn basic wheel techniques, and add interesting textures and surface designs to our pieces. Fired projects will be ready to pick up approximately two weeks after class. Students must be able to attend ALL classes in order to register.

Poured PaintingUse gravity to move paint around on a canvas. The process is mesmerizing, and the results are unlike anything you can create with a brush. Dress for mess.

Amazing Artists: Andy WarholPlay around with different kinds of printmaking while making art inspired by American Pop artist, Andy Warhol. Flowers, soup cans and portraits will all make great subjects for our colorful art creations!

Work collaboratively with your peers to develop the story, setting, characters, dialogue, and staging. Make-Your-Own Art Journals We will use many kinds of paper to make creative art journals for all our summer sketching. We will combine different kinds of papers with a variety of folding and stitching techniques in this fun class!

Fairy Houses Make your own magical fairy house using household recyclables and craft items. We will learn decoupage techniques as we construct these tiny mushroom homes, then fill them with sweet little fairies crafted from pipe cleaners, beads, silk flowers, and ribbon!

Sail into the Sunset with Monet Let the sun shine as you paint a sailboat, sunset, and land scape, all reflected in the water. Monet painted magnificent waterlilies and lily pads from his pond and we will do the same with oil pastels and watercolors!

WEDNESDAYWood Animalitos Inspired by colorful animal carvings from Mexico, we will create our own little wooden animal sculptures. We will begin by gluing wood scraps and pre-cut wood shapes together to form the animal shapes, then paint them with lots of color and pattern.

Colorful Animal Drawings Working from photographs or illustrations of animals we will create colorful, whimsical drawings with oil and chalk pastel which showcase our own style of drawing.

Hand Sewing Leather 101This entry level class is designed to introduce the classic techniques of hand-sewing with leather. Students will learn many techniques including cutting, punching, hand-sewing, riveting, snap-setting, finishing, and care. No previous experience with any type of craft or sewing is required. Students will be able to choose from a wide assortment of projects and leather at the beginning of class, including clutches, belts, coin purses, wallets, Fieldnote covers, phone cases, keychains, sunglass cases and more. Polymer Clay Experimentation Create sculptures and trinkets with this colorful and expressive clay. You will have the freedom to experiement with forms such as vases and votives or pens!

Alcohol Ink on Tiles: Birch Forests & FlowersPaint beautiful florals and landscapes on tile in this exciting medium. Whether you have prior experience with alcohol ink or are brand new to this medium, you will enjoy this class. Instructor will apply varnish 24 hours after class and your work will be available to pick up within a week.

Star Spangled NecklaceMake the perfect accessory for summer! Learn to use a needle and thread to weave red, white, and blue seed-beads into tiny stars. They can be combined to make a necklace, earrings, or hair ornament.

Wood Fired Pizza Making DemonstrationJoin James Beard Award- nominated chef Rikki Giambruno for a night of Neapolitan pizza making with WBCA’s Peter & Mary Gove Outdoor Wood Fired Oven! Learn about traditional methods while Chef Rikki demonstrates secrets to making delicious pizzas. There will be a variety of local and seasonal delicacies to top your pie and at the end of class enjoy a delicious meal. If you love cooking or eating pizza, this class is for you! Jewelry BasicsThe focus of this class is repairing and refashioning jewelry that needs an update or is out of style. In this class you will make earrings, a bracelet, and a beaded necklace. You will learn how to use tools including jump rings, stringing materials, wire guardians, crimp beads and a variety of clasps. Bring any jewelry you would like to repair or repurpose and any beads that you have. Other materials included.

Watercolor Wonders WorkshopLearn skills to express yourself with watercolor paint! You will learn about materials, mixing paint, creating unique colors, and exploring different brush techniques. Expand your creative talents in this two-day class.

Zentangle Inspired ArtTangling and doodling is a meditative drawing method that uses simple and repetitive strokes to build patterns that are combined to make a small work of art. Anyone who can draw a straight line and a curve can learn to tangle. The process is very easy, relaxing and fun. You may be surprised and delighted by the designs you create.

Teen PotteryExplore wheel-throwing skills with this course for teens. Focus on learning to make different shapes using the wheel, or use hand-building skills like pinching, coiling, and slab building. Use your shapes to create utilitarian pottery or sculptural forms. Bring your ideas for specific forms you’d like to learn to make. Class will offer demonstrations and individualized instruction. No prior clay experience necessary. Materials are included. Students must attend full session to register.

Imagine Art Camp Guidelines• Please let the office know when registering if there is anything we should be aware of to better accommodate the needs of your child.

• Do not arrive more than 5 minutes before class starts so the instructors have time to prepare.

• Students must be checked into class by an adult, who must leave a phone number where they can be contacted during the class. They must also sign a photo release form allowing WBCA to use photos taken during Imagine Art program.

• Students should wear clothes that are appropriate for art projects in case of spills.

• Students must be picked up promptly at the end of class by an adult. Adults who have permission to release must check-out their child with WBCA staff before leaving.
