1 IntroductionThis document describes the consistency checks performed between the different radio network (RNW) configuration management parameters during operations targeted to RNW managed objects.

The RNW consistency check is a service provided by the RNC software (that is, the IPA-RNC/I-HSPA/mcRNC software) to ensure the consistency of the RNC database, which is configured for different RNW managed objects. The consistency checks are based on the defined relationships between the RNW configuration management parameters under the same or different RNW managed objects. In these checks, the parameter data are compared with each other to ensure that the data are consistent according to the parameter relationship definitions. The consistency checks are performed during RNW plan download, or during direct activation or GUI operations on the RNW managed objects. The same consistency rules apply to the configuration tasks carried out by the Parameter Editor application in the OMS Element Manager.

In contrast, the parameter range check is done by the RNC software (RAYMAN) during RNW parameter creation/modification, to ensure that the parameter value is within the valid range. This parameter range check is performed before the consistency check and thus it is not included in the consistency checking rules described in this document. For more information about the value ranges of the different RNW parameters, see WCDMA Radio Network Configuration Parameters.

Consistency checking rules are grouped according to managed objects in this docu-ment. Under the managed object, rules are arranged by the operation type and the rule identifier. Each rule has its own unique identifier, which consists of the managed object, the operation type, and the number. The number is unique within the managed object and the operation type.

The rules are presented in tables. The following table presents the attributes for each rule and a description of the attributes.

Entry Description

Checking rule identifier (ID) The unique identifier for the rule. The format is “ManagedObject_OperationType_FourDigitNumber”, for example, WBTS_C_0002. The following abbreviations are used for operation type:

• C (Creation) • CM (Creation and Modification) • M (Modification) • D (Deletion) • U (Unlock) (This is valid for WCEL only.)

RNW managed object type This attribute defines for which RNW managed object the rule is valid.

Operation type This attribute defines the operation for which the rule is valid and the consistency check is performed.

Check description This attribute defines the actual checking performed during the oper-ation.
