4. Modern history begins about A.D. 1400 and continues to today.

• Dating period • AD stands for anno domini meaning “in the year of our Lord”• Begins at 1 (there is no year zero) • The year Jesus was born and all the years after• CE = Common Era (after BC times)• Example: AD 2015• Write AD in front of the year• If the text does not give an BCor AD, then assume it is AD
