• Examples:

1. Prehistory – time period before people developed writing

2. Ancient history - is an era of time that comes after Prehistory.

3. The time period between about A.D. 500 and about A.D 1400 is the Middle Ages.

4. Modern history begins about A.D. 1400 and continues to today.
