OUR STORYPeter Cherry and Andle Boonzaaier established Cherry Irrigation in 1987 with irrigation design as the focus service. When Charles (Peter’s son) joined the company in 1992, the service offering broadened to include automation and turnkey-type projects.

Even though our base of operations is in Grabouw – deciduous fruit country – our services extend to the rest of South Africa, the SADC countries and other African countries, as well as other types of crops.

IRRIGATION DESIGN AND CONSULTINGWe offer a design and consulting service that includes all agricultural irrigation systems and crops. Clients can decide whether they need a full stand-alone service or only some aspects of the design steps.

We specialise in pumphouse/head control designs, automation systems and mainline reticulation systems.

TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEY

We provide a quote or supply an estimate of the design cost. We find out what your needs and requirements are:

OUR EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISEEach member of our team contributes to the company’s experience and expertise. As a result, we are able to cover a full range of your agricultural irrigation requirements. We have in-house expertise in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, agriculture, and hydrology and extensive experience covering farm layout, system planning, soil dam design and water treatment processes besides various irrigation, automation and control systems.

Charles joined the company in 1992 after earning his diploma in civil engineering at the then Cape Town Technicon and has managed Cherry Irrigation since 2007. He is known for his overall planning skills and detailed knowledge of automation and control systems, fertigation and water treatment processes.

Peter began working in irrigation in the 1960s. He has extensive knowledge of micro/drip design. His experience in overall farm layout, system planning and soil dam design is substantial.

ANDLE BOONZAAIER, DESIGNERFellow SABI member (designer)Co-founder of Cherry Irrigation

Andle began his career in irrigation in 1982. He is meticulous in his work and has designed hundreds of hectares of drip/micro irrigation systems over the course of his career.

HILGARD ROSSOUW, DESIGN DEPARTMENT MANAGERSABI member (designer)

Hilgard earned his diploma in mechanical engineering at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in 2006. He has been working in the irrigation industry since 2008. He is known for technologically advanced head control designs and irrigation system designs for high value crops.

HEINO MALAN, TECHNICAL MANAGERSABI member

Heino has 12 years’ experience in the berry industry working in the UK and South Africa. He specialises in irrigation scheduling, maintenance, project installation, fertigation, automation and consulting, as well as providing training to growers.
