2013 PHCC Championships move into final phase Three time champion Alan Gregg still leads the field with 9 points as this

year’s club championships move into its final six rounds. Matt Morabito and Stew Wilkinson are neck and neck in second with 7.5 points each. Standings are as follows:

* Upset Prize There have been a few surprises thus far, with Avery Jones upending Lon and

drawing Alan, Noel Bedy pouncing on Stew Wilkinson, and Adam Nowiski notching a win over Gino Mariani thereby staking a claim for the upset prize.

Because the round robin format provides such flexibility, not all members have completed their scheduled games, whereas some have completed more. All

games must be completed as of April 25th, or players will be subject to forfeits. It seems that most of the players are enjoying the competition and camaraderie

that this year’s tournament offers.

Calendar of Events: Note the change for the First Thursday of Each Month.

First Thursday of Each Month - Chess Clinics– 6:30 to 7:00 PM - $7.50 per person. From 7:00 until 10:00, Players wishing to play games with longer time controls up to G/90 can choose to play match games if they so desire. Participants will be paired randomly and colors will be selected by lot. PHCC club ratings will be used. Players should turn their game scores into Lon, so he can adjust ratings appropriately and showcase the games in Chess Chatter.

January 17 thru April 25th 2013 PHCC Championships. Tournament games will be

held each Thursday during the tournament schedule, but everyone is still welcome to come to the club to play during this time. Awards Presented on May 2, 2013.

Dues News:

While dues are not required for anyone interested in playing at the club, they are required for those competing in tournament play. Annual Dues are $20.00 for adults and $10.00 for those under 19. Dues funds are used to offset miscellaneous expenses not funded by the Recreation Department.
