FROM THE PRESIDENT

Chesterfield County Fair

Leadership and management

Proud Member of the Virginia Association of Fairs

And International association of fairs

Chesterfield County Fair Association, Inc.

OUR MISSIONProvide leadership for the continued growth and improvement of the Chesterfield County Fair.

OUR VISION- To inspire agricultural education and create venues for cultural opportunities for youth and families.- To provide unlimited opportunities to celebrate Chesterfield County’s history, heritage, culture and traditions by bringing the community together.- To be recognized as the premier county fair in Virginia.

This year’s Chesterfield County Fair will mark the 30th anniversary at the new fairgrounds location. I am grateful for all of the people over the years who have worked so hard to turn an overgrown wooded lot into an attractive venue where friends and family can come to visit with one another, enjoy good entertainment, showcase their talents, and to give thanks to their Creator for a good harvest and productive year. Over the past thirty years there have been many good times, with many good people pulling together to overcome any obstacle that presented itself. This year’s Fair is packed with exhibits, contests, entertainment, and attractions that have something for everyone. I hope that all patrons of the Fair this year will have an enjoyable experience, and make those memories that will last a lifetime.

from the MANAGER

2019 marks the106th anniversary of the Chesterfield County Fair! Wow! And wouldn’t YOU like to look as good? In addition to this, it also is the 30th anniversary of the current location of the fair. We have grown and expanded and have become one of the premier fairs to visit within the Commonwealth of Virginia. We also celebrate the 400th anniversary of our Commonwealth having the longest running legislative body in the country and the 50th anniversary of the “Virginia is for Lovers” slogan.

This year brings many new and exciting things to our fair. The Butterfly Encounter promises to bring smiles to faces both young and young at heart. Learn how you can actually feed a butterfly and see its beauty up close! Hog Diggity Dog will have you in stitches as you watch “hogs and dogs” in their own special act. See if you can guess which pig will win the “Show Me Swine Pig Racing” contest.

Once again, Brad Matchett will have us laughing out of our seats as he presents his comedy hypnosis show nightly at 9 pm. New to 2019 is our 3-Ring Super Circus - complete with awe-inspiring acts that will leave you wondering just how that’s done.

RafterZ Rodeo will again bring back their show on Aug. 30-31. Join us early for mutton bustin and other fun, kid’s activities in the horse arena.

For all the history buffs (and even if you aren’t!) - be sure and take a stroll down thru Heritage Village where you can go back in time and see all sorts of things such as the violin maker, the salt maker (yes, he does make salt!), antique cameras, a blacksmith and so much more!

The grandstand entertainment will wow you in 2019! Starting off opening night with Jim Quick & Coastline -- you’ll be dancing the night(s) away. And wrestling is back this year - with Primal Conflict.....a sight to behold! Don’t forget the Miss Chesterfield County Fair pageant as well Monday night!

And while you’re enjoying the band - be sure and visit our Chesterfield Cheers Beer Garden. Steam Bell Brewery again hosts this and you can bring your food inside the tent to enjoy while having a cold beer. Per ABC regulations, we can only allow those 21 years of age and older to enter. Remember to bring your ID.

We are adding a 4-H tent this year, located outside of the Arts and Crafts Building. Come see what they have and see how you can get involved.

Rosedale Attractions will again provide our midway for those ride-loving people to enjoy. Be sure to get your ADVANCE wristbands for the midway ONLINE at our website, www.chesterfieldcountyfair.org for half price at $12.50! You can ride all day to your heart’s content! **Please note the conditions, including the specific dates that these may be used and also that admission

to the fair is required to use the wristbands. So.....WRIST UP AND RIDE!Be sure & visit the Arts and Crafts

Building to see all the goodies and textiles that people have brought in for competition. Maybe yours will win!

Special thank you goes out to Tammy Ridout, who has once again, done an outstanding job on the indoor vendors, aka “Chesterfield Marketplace.” Please do visit it!

Thanks to the VA Dept. of Tourism for the LOVE sign - the best place to have a photo op!

Petals and Bows continues to provide the beautiful flowers for both pageants.

Chesterfield County and Parks and Recreation have and continue to be such a huge support in our partnership.

Shamin Hotels have stepped forward this year to become the fair’s “Official Host Hotel.”

A special thank you to Mr. P.C. Amin for all his help in getting this accomplished.

Choice Waste -- thank you for your very generous donations.

It’s hard to believe that this is my 5th year as General Manager. I take extreme pride in my hard work and that of others - as we should. We continue to strive to bring our community new and betters things, as well as keeping with our mission statement.

I know that there’s so much more that can be done - but, we need YOUR help. This is YOUR fair. It’s easy to complain about things - but, be a part of the solution. Get involved.....be a sponsor.......put an ad in the catalog......volunteer.....

to paraphrase President John F. Kennedy - “Ask not what your fair can do for you; but, what YOU can do for your fair.”

I look forward to seeing you and yours at the 2019 Chesterfield County Fair as we all.....

CATCH THE FUN!

2018 Miss Chesterfield County Fair My year as Miss Chesterfield Country Fair has been one of growth. I am so fortunate to have met one of my closest friends through competing last year. My foodbank, Helping Hands was able to donate over a thousand pounds of food to the Chesterfield County Food Bank. I also had a wonderful experience at the Homestead Resort with my beautiful director Brenda White and my supportive family. I would love to send all of my gratitude to the Chesterfield County Fair for sponsoring my scholarship and making it possible for me to place in the Top 20 contestants at Miss Virginia Association of Fairs.
