FIRE ALARM SYSTEM
An addressable system is much more advanced than the non-addressable system.
The addressable system has a higher degree of programming flexibility and
single – point detection. Addressable fire alarm systems provide all the functions
provided by the non-addressable conventional systems.
The addressable system allows installation of more devices, providing greater
coverage. There is no restriction on the amount of programming features to be
implemented in the system. Some of the more common programming features include
fire door release, door access control override to assist in evacuation, time delay activation,
phased evacuation for multi – level buildings, signaling to all other types of fire equipment
such as sprinkler systems, monitoring station alert, and smoke damper shutdown, etc.
Addressable fire alarm systems offer benefits in speed of detection, identification of the location
of the fire and easier maintenance. The location of the fire alarm is automatically isolated in the
building control panel, which enhances the response time of the system.

WWW.CHETANCORPORATION.COM 3
Addressable building fire alarm systems also incorporate intelligent field devices that are more sensitive
and accurate than most device in place today. For example, intelligent smoke detectors can distinguish
between smoke and common causes of false alarms, such as dust. Therefore, false alarms have been
reduced by more than 50 percent with the use of intelligent addressable systems. Addressable fire alarm
system allow a single pair of wires to be used to connect up to 200 devices, which provides cost savings
in the wiring of large systems.
Fire suppression and detection systems in today’s building are innovative and highly effective only if
they are periodically inspected, tested and maintained. Those who own, manage , or are accountable for
the building have joint responsibility. They can fulfill this responsibility by working closely with experts,
including local fire departments, insurance risk control consultant, and engineers to make sure they are
ready if and when a fire breaks out.

Carbon-di-oxide gas based suppression system is envisaged to protect
unmanned area. The system is actuated by Automatic detection
(Smoke Electrical Detector) or manual push button station system
actuation is indicated by Audio/Visual and discharge of CO2 will be
released after preset time delay (As per NFPA 12) thereby ensuring
actuation of suitable safety controls for prompt evacuation.
When dealing with the protection of occupied areas, consideration shall
be given to the fact that if CO2 is inhaled, even in low concentrations,
it may lead to asphyxia. Under required safety precautions, CO2 has
been effectively applied for over 50 years to protect areas such as
transformer rooms archives, electrical hazards, record stores and
computer rooms.
CO2 has been used effectively for many years, not only in fire protection
but also in other commercial application, Although the use of CO2 as
extinguishing agent declined with the introduction of halons, it is still
widely used for fire protection, specially since Montreal Protocol was
introduced (where bases were established to ban the use of Halon
extinguisher).
At atmospheric pressures carbon dioxide (CO2) is a colourless,
odourless and non-conductive gas capable of penetrating quickly
and efficiently the area to be protected. Its density is approximately
50% greater than the density of air. CO2 is stored in high-pressure
cylinders as liquefied gas.
CO2 extinguishers fires by physical means according to two main
mechanisms. The first one is by decreasing the oxygen level inside the
enclosure from 21% to a level below 15%. Most fires are unable to
maintain combustion at such low levels. The second mechanism is by
means of cooling and heat absorption.

Therefore its greenhouse effect is nil and its ozone layer depletion
potential is zero. It is chemically inert, non conductive, colourless,
odourless and flavourless. Argon is no corrosive and may be used at
normal temperatures with such materials as nickel, steel, stainless
steel, copper, brass, bronze and plastics.

FM 200 EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM
FM – 200 has established it self as one of the most popular clean fire suppression agents. This is due to
its ability to quickly knock down Class A,B and C fires with no risk of thermal shock damage to delicate
equipment. FM – 200 is electrically non – conductive and non-corrosive; it leaves no residue.
Another major consideration is the fact that, if discharged, the FM -200 gas does not itself pose any
threat to human life, FM 200 exists as a gas in the earth’s atmosphere and is one of the by – products of
combustion. Its use has no environmental impact.
FM-200 extinguishing agent is a clean gas widely accepted as substitute to FM-200. FM-200 or heptafluo-
ropropane (CF3CHFCF3), is suitable for the protection of most hazards where Halon 1301 had to be
applied in the past. Because FM-200 is not electrical conductive, (but it is odourless and colourless), it is
effective in the protection of electrical hazards, such as computer rooms.
Once discharged, FM-200 extinguishers the fire quickly reducing to a minimum damages to properly and
valuable equipment, likewise ensuring total safety to persons.

OPEN PATH GASDETECTION SYSTEMOptical Open Path (Line-of-Sight) gas detection system employs “spectra fingerprint” analysis of
atmosphere using the differential optical absorption spectroscopy(DOAS) technique in a unique
(patented) method.
It consists of an advanced xenon flash infrared transmitter (source) and infrared detector (receiver) to
detect and quantify flammable gas presence, even when challenged by extremely harsh environments

The Optical Open Path (Line-of-Sight) Gas Detection System employs “spectral fingerprint” analysis of
the atmosphere using the Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (DOAS) technique in a unique
(patented) method.
The gas detector consists of an advanced Xenon Flash infrared transmitter (source) and infrared
detector (receiver), separated over a line of sight from 13 ft. (4 m) up to 460 ft. (140 m) to detect and
quantify flammable gas presence, even when challenged by extremely harsh environments where dust,
fog, rain, snow or vibration can cause a high reduction of signal.
The detector analyzes atmospheric absorption at three selected spectral bands, two in a region where
the target gas absorbs and one where it does not absorb. The ratio between these absorption lines can
provide accurate information of the gas concentration along an optical path.

Blow room line in spinning mill is more prone to fire as cotton/fibre is processed for cleaning & other
requirements. The fire may be mainly due to friction. Process being continuous & connected to various
machines through ducts, can not be detected immediately & this may prove hazardous damaging machines
/ raw material & ultimately loss of production till damaged machines are set right.
• Spark detectors covering 360°
• Heat detectors operating at 65°C
• Electronic control panel
• Pneumatically operated fast diversion gates
• Pneumatically operated dampers
Spark detectors & heat detectors are provided at machines more prone to fire & having large storage of material in the process machine. Any burning cotton / fiber will be detected by spark detectors & with rise of temperature heat detector will activate electronic panel which will.
• Stop complete blow room line thereby preventing further travel of burnt material to other machines.
• Give audio-visual signal indicating the one affected.
