Details of the Workshop:

Classification techniques are very crucial aspects for analysing and processing data and

patterns. The aim of this workshop was to cover all effective classification techniques used in

domain of data mining, image processing, and pertinent domains. Also, to enable post

graduate students and other researchers to be aware of when and how to use various

classifiers effectively. Hence the workshop briefs about tools/libraries and how to use them

for various application(s) during hands on session.

Session 1: NN and its applications

The first session was conducted by Dr. Mehul Raval. He gave knowledge about the basics of

Neural Networks. He focused on types of neural networks and examples of perceptron.

Session 2: SVM and its applications

Dr. Mehul Raval shared knowledge about Support Vector Machine. He started with the

basics and reached to the appropriate applications where SVM is suitable.

Hands-on Session 1: NN applications

In hands-on session, Dr. Maulin Joshi gave practices on MATLAB tool. Implementation of

heart diseases application was also discussed very well.

Session 3: Neuro-Fuzzy Systems and their applications

The key note for Fuzzy logic was very well described by Dr. Narendra Chauhan. He has also

explained the hybrid approach which includes Neuro-Fuzzy and Fuzzy-Neuro system.

Hands-on Session 2 & 3: Classification tools for Data Mining

Different tools of data mining such as Weka, Orange, RGui, Rapidminer, Sipina, Tenegra,

XLMiner were introduced by Dr. Amit Ganatra. In all these tools, data classification,

clustering and association rule mining are demonstrated on Iris database.
