Police T raining School
The Police Training School was open for a period of five months, and ~ho number or men passing through school amounted to three hundred and two.
No station schools were held during the past year on a-0count or the iucrea.sed daily working hours, and the elirilination or days off.
Physical Training
Physical training inaugurated in the department during the past yeart.. bas been accepted by the members of the department with great enthusiasm. rrior to the year 1924, but few stations had a gymnasium. Today every station but about two, has an almost complete gymnasium outfit. Many members of the department have expressed the benefici:i.l results of this training.
L~t spring a baseball league was formed which consisted or eighteen ten ms, and in the fall a. nandba.ll league wa.s formed which con~isted of twenty-four earns. This fu rther demonstra.tes the interest displayed in physical training.
It is believed that this depa.rtment is further ahead in physical training than any other police department in tile United States.
D epartmental R ules and R egulations
During the past year departmental rules and regulations were printed and issued to the entire department.
P olice F ield M eet
The Police Field Meet held last year at the Grant Pa.rk Sta.ilium wa.s by far the most spectacular Meet ever held by the police department. Many favorable comments ha.ve been made regarding the Meet, especially the Mass Physical Drill, which was considered by many to be the ma.stcr number on the program, and the best a.nd largest Mass Physica.l Drill of its kind ever attempted.
P olice B and
The Police Band enjoys continued popularity. Its increased efficiency, from a musical standpoint, compared with a year ago, is undisputablc.
P olice Octette
The continued popularity and sinJ$ing ability of the Police Octette is proven by the many requests made for their appea.ra.nce on various ooca.sions. All possess voices of qualjty.
