Vehicles that exceed a programma-ble speed threshold in the area of detection will trigger both an audible warning and highly visible warning lights. the “tracking area” begins a full 500 feet prior to the crosswalk. approximately 200 feet from the crosswalk, the warning system acti-vates if a tracked vehicle exceeds the speed threshold.
the visible warning lights and cus-tomizable 100db audible tone emit from the speed detection device.

SChool Zone Speed Controlthe innovative child alert safety system (cass) offers both the driver and proximate pedestrians early warning of overspeed driv-ing. the system utilizes an audible alarm to warn pedestrians in and around the protected area, and a visual alarm to warn the driver of their unsafe speed. the detection system acti-vates several hundred feet prior to automated photo enforcement, allowing the driver to be clearly aware that they must slow down, as well as warning the pedestrians well in advance to be aware of the overspeed vehicle.
The CASS system provides deterrence prior to penalty for the driver, and awareness prior
to incident for the pedestrian.
If the warnings are not heeded and the vehicle continues to exceed the speed threshold at the “trigger line,” a violation event is captured. the vio-lation event consists of a photograph and associated metadata.
events are automatically download-ed to GATSO’s XILIUM Backoffice system for processing.
