Stop Acting Childish

Ephesians 4:13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—

A Mature ManNot Easily Deceived

Christ is the standard by which we must measure ourselves

Colossians 1:28  He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. (NIV)

Marks of Maturity– One magazine has defined

maturity as being “able to carry money without spending it; to be able to bear an injustice without retaliating; to be able to keep on the job until it is finished; to be able to do one’s duty even when one is not watched; and to be able to accept criticism without letting it whip you up”

23

Page 24: Childlike Qualities Al – Trust in Parents (children don’t worry about the things that adults worry about) Matt B. – Humility (children don’t think they.

Eat meat

Hebrews 5:11 of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

“You need to raise your head.”

24

Marks of Maturity• Do not be easily swayed or led

astray (Ephesians 4:14-15)

25

Page 26: Childlike Qualities Al – Trust in Parents (children don’t worry about the things that adults worry about) Matt B. – Humility (children don’t think they.

Do not be easily swayed or led astray

Ephesians 4:14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—

26

Follow the Word and not the preacher.

Page 27: Childlike Qualities Al – Trust in Parents (children don’t worry about the things that adults worry about) Matt B. – Humility (children don’t think they.

Marks of Maturity• Do your duty (Philippians 3:13-16)

27

Page 28: Childlike Qualities Al – Trust in Parents (children don’t worry about the things that adults worry about) Matt B. – Humility (children don’t think they.

Do your duty

Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.

Act Your Age.Parents Should Act Like Parents, Not Like Children.

28

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,
