Matter of concern for the organisation of the festival and the media

Elements of risk

• Number: every ticket-holder for that day of the festival want to see this show (38’000 + guests & staff = 50’000 people at Paléo Festival)

• Density: fan-behaviour = high density expected in the front-of-stage (density)

• Vulnerability: audience profile with a lot a children

• Unexperienced: families not used to mega-concerts feeling uncomfortable into the crowd (unexperienced festival-goers)

• Style of music: dance and french song (unique style), with potentials crowd movements

• …

• Very high density (over-density?), pressure, accident by compression or choking

ObservationsAll the festival-goers came to see Stromae. Up to 10:30pm, there were spectators everywhere in the festival site, the stalls were crowded and all sitting areas were occupied. Then, a never seen rush to the toilets has been noticed … … and the main stage attracted everybody. Everywhere else: desert zones.
