My Father is glorified by this, that you

bear much fruit, and so prove to be my

I have also loved you; abide in my love. If

you keep my commandments you will abide

Information for Children:

One way to show your love for God is to read the Bible. We want

to encourage you to read your Bible a little bit each day. This

book has a few verses to read and then a question or activity to

help you think about the verses. Your class will discuss the verses

at the midweek meeting.

Your book will be checked by the teachers at our midweek

meeting. You will receive a mark for every week that you finish

all 5 lessons.

The memory verses are for you to learn. You may say a memory

verse every week that we are studying that book of the Bible.

Your teacher may give you extra opportunities to say the verses.

The schedule has places for your teacher to mark the verses you

say!

Information for Parents:

These are daily devotional books for school children from first through sixth grade. Our hope is

that the expository style will guide the children and their family through the Bible as in an

overview course. A child who completes all 6 books will have studied through most of the Bible

twice. The version of the Bible used is NASB – New American Standard Bible.

There are 3 books A, B and C. Each book has 2 levels. The upper level is for grades 4-6 and the

lower level is for grades 1-3. Both levels cover the same passage of Scripture. These books were

prepared for the children to do at home, preferably with their parents, as an aid for daily time in

the Bible. We also use this material for the Midweek teachers to teach the children a lesson. The

children are asked to bring the book with Day One through Day Five completed. We allow the

children to finish a lesson at church since time is limited after school.

The “Name” COVER page is put on the outside of the 3 ring notebook for identification. The

title page is put in the front of the notebook with the schedule on the back. Various years we

have added a note to the parents or other information about staff or any concerns of the parents.

We have also put this material into spiral bound books for the children, but we found that

bringing them to church each week caused a lot of wear and the spiral bound pages came loose.

We hope this material aids you in teaching God’s Word to your children. Please talk to the elders

or teachers if you have any questions.

of Jesus’ life from His birth until He went back to heaven after He died and rose from the

dead.

Verse 4 gives Luke’s purpose for writing the book. Fill in the blank below using verse 4.

“so that you might know the exact ________________________________ about the

things you have been taught.”

DAY THREE -- Read Luke 1:26-27, 30-33

Mary is told by an angel that she will have God’s Son. She will name Him Jesus. The

angel tells Mary many great things about Jesus. We find out He is God’s Son, His

kingdom will go on forever, He’ll reign as King and He has power and authority.

Fill in the missing information from verses 32-33 that tell about Jesus.

While in Bethlehem, Jesus is born.

Where did Joseph and Mary leave from? town - ____________ region: ______________

Where did they go? region: ____________ city _______________ called ____________

Why did they go there? ___________________________________________________

smelly clean messy warm

damp chilly quiet drafty

cute dark germ-free noisy

Would you expect the Son of God to be born like this? _________________________

DAY FIVE -- Read Luke 2:10-11, 14

Shepherds near Bethlehem are told about Jesus’ birth by angels. Two things happened

when Jesus become a man on earth . They are told in verse 14.

Fill in the answers to what the two things Jesus’ birth did below.

WEEK 2 - LUKE 2:40 - 5:11

DAY ONE -- Read Luke 2:40, 42-44, 46

Jesus is now 12 years old and He travels to Jerusalem for a special feast with Mary and

Joseph. They traveled in a big group and He got left behind. Three days later they

returned to find Him in the temple. What was Jesus doing in the temple when Mary and

Joseph found Him? Unscramble the words below. (verse 46)

1. __________________________________________________ to the teachers

DAY TWO -- Read Luke 3:3

John the Baptist has been preaching to the people about their need to ask God for

forgiveness for their sins. When you ask for forgiveness, you are saying you’re wrong

and need to stop sinning. Then you try not to repeat the sin, as best you can.

Circle the correct answers below.

1. Asking for forgiveness:

a. means you know you’re wrong and will stop the sin and try not to repeat it

b. means “gave four times”

2. Asking for forgiveness:

a. needs to be done two times a year

b. need to be done every time you sin

3. If you’re truly sorry and ask God to forgive you:

a. He’ll forgive you

b. He’ll give you a sucker

DAY THREE -- Read Luke 3:21-23

John the Baptist teaches the Jews that after they’ve believed in God they need to be

baptized. Even Jesus was baptized to ‘ do what was right.’ You can be baptized also, to

obey God after you become a believer and understand who God is and what He’s done

for you. It’s a public way to show you’re a believer.

Circle “Yes” or “No” to the following questions.

1. Does baptism save you from your sins? YES NO

2. Should believers be baptized to obey God and show

publicly they are believers? YES NO

9

DAY FOUR -- Read Luke 4:1-4

Here is a great example of Jesus’ victory over Satan. Jesus is tempted in three ways by

Satan. These verses tell of the first temptation. Each time Jesus is tempted to disobey

God, and obey Satan, Jesus tells Satan a Bible verse. He also doesn’t give in to the

temptation. We, too, can have the power not to give in and disobey. Jesus knows what

it’s like and gives us strength to resist and do what’s right. Knowing what the Bible

teaches is very important.

Circle the correct answer to each question below.

1. Where can you find out how to act towards your parents when you’re tempted to

disobey?

a. a magazine

b. the Bible

2. Where can you find out how to control your anger?

a. the Bible

b. a storybook

3. Where can you find out how to get along with people that are different from you?

a. on TV

b. the Bible

DAY FIVE -- Read Luke 5:3-6, 10-11

Here we see Jesus’ authority. He did a miracle to show this. Those men who didn’t

catch anything suddenly had their nets so full of fish the nets were breaking. Jesus was

showing them that with Him anything is possible. He wanted them to come with Him

and be His witnesses, learning about Him so they could some day tell others.

Find and circle the words in the puzzle below.

DAY ONE -- Read Luke 5:18-21, 24-25

To be paralyzed means you have no feeling in part of your body. This man was

paralyzed and couldn’t walk. His friends keep trying to get him to Jesus. Their faith was

strong. Jesus healed the man and right away he could walk. Jesus showed His power

over illness and the authority to forgive sins.

Unscramble the answers below.

DAY TWO -- Read Luke 6:27-29

Jesus teaches his disciples, the twelve men close to Him, about revenge and having

enemies. God wants us to love our enemies. That’s hard to do! He wants us to show

them kindness and NOT to get back at them.

Finish the following statements:

1. I could love/be kind to someone who pushed me out of line by:

______________________________________________________________

2. I could love/be kind to someone who grabbed my toy out of my hand by:

______________________________________________________________

DAY THREE -- Read Luke 6:35

Here Jesus talks more about loving our enemies. He says we should be able to lend

things without asking what WE can have in return. Be generous and share. God is

generous with us, so we should be generous to others.

Cross out the WRONG ways to share and be generous.

OK, I’ll give you this piece of candy, but OK, I’ll let you have a

what are you going to give to ME? cookie

11

DAY FOUR -- Read Luke 6:47-49

Here are two kinds of houses. They stand for two kinds of people: believers and

unbelievers. The believer is on solid ground. Problems, or storms, come but the believer

stands firm because of faith in God. The unbeliever is on nothing solid and firm, just

sand. Storms come and the unbelievers fall because they have no faith to help them.

Draw the two kinds of houses and how they stand against storms.

House on rock (solid) House on sand (no firm

foundation)

DAY FIVE -- Read Luke 7:2, 8-10

A centurion was a Roman soldier in charge of 100 men. He heard of Jesus and had faith

in Him. The centurion’s servant is sick and he asks Jesus to heal him.

The centurion had something that made him believe Jesus could do anything. Color in

that word below.

12

WEEK 4 - LUKE 8:49 - 14:6

DAY ONE -- Read Luke 8:49-50, 54-55

Jesus does another miracle. He brings a girl who died back to life. Why did He do that

for the girl’s family? To show He was the Son of God, to bring God glory and honor.

Jesus told the father to not be afraid, she would be made well. That took a lot of faith for

him to believe Jesus. Faith is so important. We need to have faith too, and trust in Jesus.

Finish the statement below.

God is in control of everything, and we need to

have ________________________ in Him, and trust Him.

DAY TWO -- Read Luke 11:1-4

Jesus gave the disciples and us an example of prayer. Jesus prayed to God the Father a

lot, and so should we. This prayer teaches us some things that should be in our prayers to

God. Not all prayers are said the same way though, and that’s okay. Let’s look at what

Jesus had to teach about prayer. First, we should respect and honor God and His name.

Then Jesus asks God for “daily bread”. That’s a way of showing us that we should ask

God for our daily needs, like food. Everything is from God. Then Jesus asks God for

forgiveness, and that we in turn should forgive others. Lastly, Jesus asks God to help us

not to be in situations where we would be tempted to sin.

Check the things listed below that Jesus’ prayer showed us to pray to God about.

______ thanking Him for all He does for you

______ asking God to help you with a problem

______ telling God you want a new toy tomorrow

______ asking God to help you grow as a believer

______ thanking God for your family and friends and church

DAY THREE -- Read Luke 11:5-10

Jesus is still talking about prayer. He tells us that we can keep on asking God for

something. Our earthly fathers give us good things. God is our spiritual Father. He

gives us things for our spiritual good.

Check the statements below that are true about prayer.

______ prayer is talking to God

______ you can only pray at meal time

______ you can talk to God like you talk to people

______ God wants to hear your prayers

______ you have to shout so God can hear you

______ you can pray any time

13

DAY FOUR -- Read Luke 12:16-21

The rich man in today’s story thought that getting more “stuff” in life was most

important. He thought he was pretty good because he had so much stuff. God says that

riches in this life are nothing when we compare them with eternal life in heaven. Our

spiritual growth should be most important to us.

Circle the words/phrases that show how you take care of your spiritual life.

reading the Bible playing Nintendo loving others

helping others praying playing ball going to church

DAY FIVE -- Read Luke 14:1-6

Jesus healed a man on the Sabbath, which is on Saturday. That was the Jewish day to

rest. We rest and worship and honor God on Sunday, because God rested on the 7th

day

of creation. The Jews added lots of rules over the years, so that many simple things were

thought of as work. Jesus shows that His work is more important than their laws.

Healing a man was important, and okay to do.

What day was like our Sunday for the Jews? Color the word below.

14

WEEK 5 - LUKE 15:11 - 19:10

DAY ONE -- Read Luke 15:11-14, 18-20, 24

This is commonly called the parable of the prodigal son, or the lost son. Sinners are like

the son that left the father. He lived carelessly and lost everything. He went home to his

father, who welcomed him home because of his love for his son. God welcomes sinners

who come to Him asking for forgiveness. We are forgiven because of God’s great love

for us.

Answer each of the following questions using one of the words to choose from below.

FORGIVES LOVE GOD SINNERS

1. ________________________ is the father in the story, welcoming back his lost son.

2. God forgives us sinners because of His great ________________________for us.

3. We are all _____________________________________________ , like the lost son.

4. God ____________________________________________________ our sins.

5.

DAY TWO -- Read Luke 16:10-14

God tells us that He gives us money and things as blessings. We are to use them wisely.

You should be thankful for them and use them well, but not live for them and make them

most important. We need to show God we can be responsible for what He gives us. He

may give us more to use wisely.

Circle the ways you can be responsible with what God gives you from the list below.

save my money for things I really want spend my money every

chance I get

give an offering at church take good care of my toys throw my

toys around

DAY THREE -- Read Luke 16:19-22

Jesus tells a story of two men, one is rich and one is poor. They both die. The poor one

goes to heaven because he believed in God. The rich man didn’t believe in God and goes

to hell. The rich man thought his riches were so important, but believing in God is more

important. Why did the poor man go to heaven? Write your answer below.

________________________________________________________________

15

DAY FOUR -- Read Luke 17:3-6

The disciples asked Jesus how many times they should forgive someone. Jesus said

seven times a day. We’re not to count how many per day, that’s just a number to show

that you are to forgive as often as someone asks you to forgive them. That’s hard to do.

That’s why the disciples said “increase our faith” in verse 5.

Match the statements below.

you are to forgive ____ times a day forgive

disciples said “increase our _____” seven

if your brother repents (asks for faith

forgiveness) you are to _____ him

DAY FIVE -- Read Luke 19:1-10

Zaccheus was a tax collector. Tax collectors back then were not liked because they

would often tell you to pay more than what was needed and keep the extra. Zaccheus

wanted to see Jesus and ended up having Jesus into his home. Zaccheus says he’s done

wrong and he’ll give back the extra money he took.

Answer the question below.

Why was Jesus pleased with Zaccheus in verse 9?

WEEK 6 - LUKE 19:29 - 22:62

DAY ONE -- Read Luke 19:29-31, 33-36

This is what the church calls Palm Sunday. It’s the day Jesus entered the city of

Jerusalem and in a few days He would die on the cross for our sins. The people are

excited to see Jesus and they lay coats and palm branches down as He comes by. They

called Jesus “the king.” They wanted a leader to fight with them in war against their

enemies. That’s not the kind of king Jesus wanted them to have (yet).

Put the events in order below.

_______ the people lay coats and palm branches as Jesus went by and they

shouted “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord”

_______ Jesus told the disciples to get a colt for Him to ride on

_______ the owner of the colt asked why the disciples were taking it

DAY TWO -- Read Luke 21:1-4

Jesus talks about giving money for the church. A rich man gave, but had plenty left for

himself. A poor woman gave all she had. Jesus said the poor woman’s offering was

better then the rich man’s offering. She gave God all her money for His use. WE should

freely give to God from the blessings He gives us. We are to be responsible with our

money, and not leave God out when it comes time to spend money. We should give

generously and have a cheerful attitude.

Find and circle the words in the puzzle below.

DAY THREE -- Read Luke 22:2-5

The Pharisees, Jewish leaders, want to get rid of Jesus. They didn’t want the people

following Jesus and not them. Judas, one of the twelve disciples, doesn’t believe Jesus is

God’s Son. He says he’ll turn Jesus over to them, and he got paid to do it.

Betray means to deliver to an enemy. How sad that a disciple betrayed Jesus. But it was

all in God’s plan. Color in the word using a DARK color to show it was a bad thing that

Judas did.

DAY FOUR -- Read Luke 22:17-21

This is what’s called communion, or the Lord’s Supper. Jesus had the disciples all eat

some bread and then drink some wine. The bread and wine remind us that Jesus gave up

His life to save us from our sins. We celebrate communion to remember what Jesus did

for us.

Write below what we should say to Jesus for dying on the cross.

_______________________________________________________________

DAY FIVE -- Read Luke 22:55-62

Peter was told earlier by Jesus that he’d deny (say he didn’t know) Jesus three times.

Peter said, “no way!” But when Jesus was taken by soldiers, Peter was afraid. Peter was

asked by people three times if he knew Jesus and each time he said “no”. After the third

time the cock crowed, Peter realized what he had done and he cried. Because we let God

down and sin, it doesn’t mean God doesn’t love us anymore. We need to ask for

forgiveness and try not to do it again. God loves us and will forgive us our sins. God

loved Peter and forgave him. Later he was greatly used by God.

Circle “Yes” or “No” to the following.

1. Did Peter’s fear make him say he didn’t know Jesus? YES NO

2. Are you ever afraid to let others know you’re a believer? YES NO

3. Can we go to God when we’re afraid for strength and

courage? YES NO

18

WEEK 7 - LUKE 23:1 - 24:53

Ю DAY ONE -- Read Luke 23:1-7

Jesus is taken to Pilate, the Roman in charge of that area. The Jews needed Pilate’s

permission to kill Jesus. Pilate sent Jesus to a man named Herod, who was a Jewish

leader under Pilate. He wanted Herod to decide what to do with Jesus.

In verses 2 & 5 we find the reasons the Jews say they want to kill Jesus for. Circle “Yes”

or “No” below.

1. Are these reasons to kill someone? YES NO

2. Did Jesus ever do anything wrong? YES NO

ЮDAY TWO -- Read Luke 23:14-16, 21, 23

Herod couldn’t find any reason to kill Jesus, so he sends Jesus back to Pilate. Pilate

doesn’t think Jesus deserves to die either, but because Pilate was not a strong leader he let

the crowds push him into saying Jesus should die.

Unscramble the name of who was in control of all of this.

Ю DAY THREE - Read Luke 23:39-43

Two true criminals were hung on crosses beside Jesus. One of them believed in Jesus

and the other didn’t. Jesus told the believer he would be in heaven later that day.

We learn some things about Jesus from what the believing criminal said about Him.

Finish the statement below.

verse 41 - “...this man had done ___________________________________ wrong”.

verse 42 - “remember me when You come into Your ________________________”

verse 43 - “Today you shall be with ____________________________ in paradise”.

19

ЮDAY FOUR -- Read Luke 24:1-3, 6-7

The women close to Jesus go to His tomb and find an angel and see Jesus is gone. The

angel reminds them of what Jesus said before would happen.

Draw a face showing how the women probably felt as they walked to Jesus’ tomb.

Draw a face showing how the women probably felt as they left the tomb after hearing

what the angel said about Jesus rising from the dead.

ЮDAY FIVE -- Read Luke 24:44-47, 51-53

Jesus shows Himself to the disciples and spends some time with them. He reminds them

of some of the things He’d taught them. Then He tells them to go to all the nations

telling people about Jesus and what He did to save us from our sins. They were His

witnesses. We, too, can be witnesses for Jesus. We, too, can tell others about Jesus.

Write below how you can be a witness for Jesus.

WEEK 8 -- II TIMOTHY 1:1 - 2:2

DAY ONE -- II Timothy 1:1-2

This book of the Bible is called an epistle. That is a letter written to a person or group at

a church. This is written to Timothy. It's the second letter, so we see the Roman numeral

"II" in front of the name. We find out in verse 1 that Paul is the one writing it.

Fill in the information you can gather from verses 1 & 2:

1. Who wrote it? __________________________________________________

2. Who did Paul write to? ___________________________________________

3. What is Paul's title/position? _______________________________________

4. What does Paul refer to Timothy as? ________________________________

5. What are the three things we have from God that Paul writes in verse 2?

1. ________________ 2. ________________ 3. ________________

DAY TWO -- II Timothy 1:5

Paul notes Timothy's "sincere" faith in God as being very good. Sincere faith means

what you say, you do. We need to follow Timothy's example of having sincere faith.

Don't tell your friend to not lie, and then lie to someone later. We also see a wonderful

picture of Timothy's family life here. His grandmother Lois was a believer and taught

Timothy's mom, Eunice, who then taught God's word to Timothy. Our parents and

grandparents can be important people in our lives for the same reason ... they teach us

about God.

Write what kind of faith Timothy had: ________________________________

DAY THREE -- II Timothy 1: 8, 12

Paul is encouraging Timothy, who is pastor at a church in the city of Ephesus. Paul

wants Timothy to remember that God saved us and called us to a holy life because of

God's plan, not anything we did. Paul suffered at times because unbelievers don't always

like to hear God's Word being taught and spread. But Paul was not ashamed of God and

His Word and Timothy wasn't, and we shouldn't be either.

Paul writes in the end of verse 12 what he knows of God and why he can trust Him. Fill

in the missing words on the next page.

"for I know whom I have ___________________ and I am convinced that

___________ is able to ____________________________ what I have entrusted to

_______________ until that day."

21

DAY FOUR -- II Timothy 1:13-14

People yesterday, today, and tomorrow, want to change God's Word to fit what they want

it to mean for them. A lot of people don't want to live how God wants them to, so they

change the wording or meaning, and then they like it. We are told over and over NOT to

change God's Word (the Bible) in any way. Paul reminds Timothy to hold to the sound

words (doctrine) that God has in the Bible and to guard it as a treasure.

Draw a treasure chest below and a Bible inside.

DAY FIVE -- II Timothy 2:1-2

"Be strong" here means 'be empowered'. Paul wants Timothy to use the power he has

from God, (a gift) by His grace, to stand up for God's truth. And then he wants Timothy

to pass the knowledge he has of God and what God can do in us, on to the people in the

church. As pastor, he should teach "faithful men", who then teach others in the church.

We can learn about God from many people in many different roles at church. Circle all

the people or their role/title that you can learn from at church below.

Jr. Church teacher Youth leader Pastor

Sunday School teacher Missionary Club teacher

22

WEEK 9 - II TIMOTHY 2:4 – 22

DAY ONE -- II Timothy 2:4-6 Being a believer takes work and discipline. We still have to deal with our sinful nature

and not give in. Paul uses three word “pictures” to get his point across.

Match the "picture" to what it means.

farmer he is disciplined and obeys without questioning

his commander

athlete he is hardworking to get crops in, weeded and

harvested

soldier he trains diligently and is self-controlled and

has endurance

DAY TWO -- II Timothy 2:10

Paul shares his situation with Timothy, that he has suffered because of his obedience to

God in sharing the gospel with others. At the time of his writing this letter, he is in

prison. But Paul is not sad or discouraged by that because God has given him strength

and hope. He knows he's being used by God, even in prison, and is doing what's right.

Sometimes things happen to us that don't seem right or fair, but if we are living for God

and doing what pleases Him, then we can rely on God's strength to get us through like

Paul did. Paul knows other people are hearing about God and are seeing his good

example and so he is not discouraged. Fill in the letter 'i' in all the blanks below.

"...that they may also obta___n the salvat___on wh___ch ___s

___n Chr____st Jesus and w___th ___t eternal glory."

DAY THREE -- II Timothy 2:11-13

Four points are made in this quote. One is if we have died with Him (given our will to

Him to control) we will live with Him (in heaven). The second is if we endure (keep on

doing good), we will reign with Him (reign in heaven). The third is if we deny Him (say

we don't believe in Him), He'll deny us (not take us to heaven) and the fourth is if we are

faithless (a believer who is not always faithful to God), God is still faithful to them.

Once you are truly saved, you will be saved. But being disobedient is not wise nor

desired by God. These are good things to keep in mind; our actions make a big

difference to God.

Check the things that are examples of either giving our will to God, or of suffering for

doing good and continuing to do good.

____ Teased because you didn’t cheat

____ laughed at because you go to church

____ teased because you helped someone

____ laughed at because you won’t hurt someone’s feelings

DAY FOUR -- II Timothy 2:15

Paul wants Timothy and us to be diligent (work hard at, be zealous) in how we live for

God. We need to think of pleasing God, not people. We need to accurately (correctly)

handle the Word of truth (not change it, misuse it, or dishonor it). We don’t want God to

be ashamed of us and our behavior.

Color in the word below that describes how we are to present ourselves to God:

DAY FIVE -- II Timothy 2:22

We are told to flee from bad things and actions. That means to get away from them

quickly. Don't play around with things that can get you in trouble, get away from them,

and stop doing them. Then Paul says to pursue good things. To pursue means to go

after, look for good things and do them.

Circle the words below that we are told to pursue.

FAITH HATE PEACE ANGER

RIGHTEOUSNESS SELFISHNESS LOVE

WEEK 10 - II TIMOTHY 2:24 – 3:17

DAY ONE -- II Timothy 2:24-25

Here is a list of qualities that a believer, a bond-servant to God, should have. Match the

quality with the meaning.

kind tell someone what you know

not quarrelsome ready to bear evil treatment without

resentment

able (ready) to teach treat everyone gently

correct those who oppose (fight) you not a fighter, but works out problems

patient when wronged gentle instruction to those against you

DAY TWO -- II Timothy 3:1-5

Wow, what an awful list of qualities people can have! These are the opposite of how

God's children (believers) are to act. People were like that back then, and they are today,

and will be until Jesus returns to rule on earth someday. We are told one thing to do

regarding these kinds of people in verse 5, at the end of the verse. Write it on the lines

below.

"...and ___________________________________________________________ ."

DAY THREE -- II Timothy 3:9

The "they" here refers to v. 8 where two men are mentioned who went against Moses

long ago. These men, and men in Timothy's day and our day now, were false teachers.

They were not helping God's truth to be spread, but changing it and getting others to

follow them. They were corrupt and evil men. Timothy must fight for the truth just as

Moses did.

Fill in the sentence below using the code key.

$ = D * = R @ = S & = T ^ = H % = G # = O + = U

DAY FOUR -- II Timothy 3:10-12

Timothy is being reminded that Paul had many times been persecuted for standing up for

God's truth, and that God brought Paul through those times. In verse 12 we read that all

believers will at some time suffer persecution if they are living a godly life, one that is

pleasing to God.

Put a checkmark by the statements that are examples of how someone might suffer for

being a Christian.

____ Laughed at because you didn't make fun of someone like they did

____ Made fun of because you obey your parents, when they don't

____ Not asked to be in a group to play a game because you are different from them

because you don't cheat and use bad words like they do

____ Picked on because you won't fight and call them names when they tease you

DAY FIVE -- II Timothy 3:16-17

These are great verses to know that explain how we got the Bible and what it’s for. First,

it says "all Scripture"~ every word ~ was given by God, no parts are made up by men.

Then it says the Bible was "inspired by God". Some Bibles use the word 'breathed'. They

mean the same. God somehow told the men what exact words to write, and they wrote

out the books of the Bible.

Then Paul tells us what the Bible is used for: write them on the lines below.

- for ________________________________________ (instructing)

- for _____________________________________ (rebuke; to challenge someone

about something they are doing in error so they change)

- for _____________________________________ (to reform, to make straight)

- for ___________________________________________________________

(show how to be righteous)

- (v. 17) that the man of God may be adequate, ____________________________

for every good work.

26

WEEK 11 - II TIMOTHY 4:2 – 22

DAY ONE -- II Timothy 4:2-4

Paul is almost done writing this letter to Timothy. He wrote in the beginning of the letter

about standing firm for God's truth, despite men who change God's Word and teach those

false things to others. Paul tells Timothy there will always be people who don't like what

God's Word has to say because it seems too hard to obey, or they don't want to admit

their sins. But regardless, he must teach only God's Word and not change it to fit the

listeners.

There are two words that Paul uses in his desire for Timothy when Timothy is teaching

and encouraging others. They are in verse 2. Write them below.

"...rebuke, exhort, with __________________________________________________ ."

DAY TWO -- II Timothy 4:5

Paul wants Timothy to be a good example to his church and all Christians (even us

today). He says to be "sober". That means to use good sense, be disciplined. Paul says

he'll endure hardship (go through rough times) but Timothy can rely on God to get him

through. Paul wants him to fulfill his ministry. That's another way of saying fulfill

(complete) his service to God.

Circle the things you can do to be of service to God.

Make a mess and leave it Make my bed Be a good friend

Clean my room Rake leaves Watch T.V. a lot Help Dad

Argue Shovel snow Help Mom Start a fight Call names

DAY THREE -- II Timothy 4:7-8

Remember earlier in the letter, Paul referred to a soldier, an athlete and a farmer all doing

their job and what it takes for them to do it well. Well, Paul uses another picture here of

his life, that he felt was near the end. He compares himself to an athlete who's been

running in a race with all discipline, strength and endurance. Paul feels he's done running

now that his life is about over. He looks to heaven for a reward for his obedience to God.

He also says all believers that try to live pleasing to God will have a reward in heaven.

Color in the crown.

27

DAY FOUR -- II Timothy 4:17

Paul knows and tells us that it was not his own strength or power that got him through the

hard times and helped him obey God. God gave him the strength. Paul was used by God

to preach God's truth and offer salvation to Gentiles (anyone who was not a Jew).

Cross out all the words below that do not help us to live how God wants us to. See what

word is left when you're done, and that is who helps us!

MYSELF T.V. SCHOOL

NINTENDO GOD MOVIES SEGA

DAY FIVE -- II Timothy 4:18-22

Paul kept giving God the credit for all he was able to accomplish for God. And here, at

the end of his life, he still praises God for who He is.

Color in the words that tell where Paul is going when he dies, and where all of us who are

believers are going too.

WEEK 12 - I CORINTHIANS 1:1 - 3:3

Δ DAY ONE -- Read I Corinthians 1:1-3

Paul writes to the church in the city of Corinth. He says the believers are “sanctified”.

“Sanctified” means “set apart by God” to serve Him and honor Him. Paul says believers

everywhere are set apart to serve God. Grace and peace are only from God to believers.

Fill in the blanks below.

1. Who are sanctified? ________________________________________________

2. What does sanctified mean? __________________________________________

3. What are believers sanctified, or set apart to do? ___________________________

ΔDAY TWO -- Read I Corinthians 1:4-6

Paul reminds us that believers are saved only because of God’s grace. God changes us in

our speech and our knowledge and we become people that live to please God in all we

do. We can please God because of HIS grace, not because of anything WE do.

Write the correct name on each line below.

1. Who changes us so we can please God? __________________________________

2. By whose grace are we changed? _______________________________________

3. Who should believers live to please? _____________________________________

ΔDAY THREE -- Read I Corinthians 1:10

Paul wants us to not fight or argue or quarrel with each other. We should be working

together as a church body. Our faith in God brings us together. Working together means

to put others before ourselves, be peace makers, cooperate, and so on.

Color in the words below that tell how we should act with others.

29

ΔDAY FOUR -- Read I Corinthians 1:29-30

God planned for us to be saved from our sins so all we do is accept the free gift of

salvation and have faith. We are saved NOT by anything we do, so we can’t boast, or be

proud about ourselves. It’s all God’s doing that saves us. Being prideful is wrong. God

saved us when we were His enemies and were full of sin. There’s nothing to be proud of

in ourselves when it comes to Christ dying on the cross to save us.

Answer the following question.

What does verse 29 say we would do if WE had a part in saving ourselves?

______________________________________________________________

ΔDAY FIVE -- Read I Corinthians 3:2-3

Paul compares new believers to babies. Babies drink milk to grow and can’t eat solid

food yet. New believers start to learn about God from reading the Bible and hearing

lessons at church from the Bible. As a baby grows, he can eat solid food. As believers

grow they can handle more of God’s Word and get a deeper understanding of it.

Draw below what “good” believers take in to help them grow in their knowledge of God

and their relationship with God.

30

WEEK 13 - I CORINTHIANS 3:11 - 10:13

DAY ONE -- Read I Corinthians 3:11-13

A house is build on a base, or foundation. Christ is the believers’ spiritual foundation.

As we grow, we are being built in Christ. Paul uses words like silver and gold to describe

the good things we do with our lives for God, giving Him the best we can. Things like

wood and hay are the okay things we do, but not our best.

Fill in the answers below using the two words: GOLD HAY

1. What does God want from you? _______________________________________

2. What do you want to give God? _______________________________________

3. Which is more precious and special? ____________________________________

4. Which shows God is more important in your life? ___________________________

5. Which would bring you more joy to give God? ____________________________

DAY TWO -- Read I Corinthians 6:19-20

Believers have the Holy Spirit living inside. Our bodies are compared to a temple, a

building from Old Testament times where God could be found. We need to take care of

our bodies We do that by eating food that’s good for us, getting rest, not doing things

with our bodies that would not bring honor to God, and so on.

Circle the things below that show you are glorifying God with your body.

eating food that’s healthy doing helpful things for others only eating junk food

taking drugs that aren’t from your doctor hitting someone else to be mean

wearing clothes that are appropriate getting enough rest

DAY THREE -- Read I Corinthians 9:23-25

Our Christian life is compared to a race. When we run in a race we need to be self-

controlled, get training, practice, keep your body in good health, and so on. The winner

of the race gets a prize. As Christians we need to have self-control, practice doing good

things to others, know God’s Word, and so on. Our prize is being in heaven with God

forever. Find and circle the words in the puzzle.

DAY FOUR -- Read I Corinthians 10:5-6, 11-12

Paul uses the Israelites of the Old Testament as examples for us to see God’s discipline

when we keep on sinning. One sin they did was to crave evil things. That means they

didn’t control their thoughts and actions. We need to control our thought and actions and

fill our minds with thought of God and doing what pleases Him. Other sins were listed in

the verses we skipped. The sins were idolatry, immorality, complaining and continuing

in sin. Idolaters means they put as most important to them something other than God.

Act immorally means they did sinful things with their bodies. “Try the Lord” means

they continued to sin and go against Him knowing that would anger Him. Then they

grumbled, or complained against God. They questioned His goodness and ability to

provide for them. All these are written so we can learn from their sins and not do them

ourselves. Write below what sins are mentioned in these verses. They are underlined

above to help you find them. Be careful not to be doing them yourself.

1. __________________ 2. ___________________ 3. __________________

4. __________________ 5. __________________

DAY FIVE -- Read I Corinthians 10:13

This verse is a great comfort to believers. There is NO temptation you can’t resist. To be

tempted means you see a chance to sin and need to decide whether to do that sin or not.

God will provide a way to resist the sin, so you don’t have to sin. But He gives us the

choice. We need to choose NOT to sin. Write a way you could resist the temptation and

NOT sin to each example below.

1. Kids around you disobey their parents. Some you don’t even see get punished for it.

Your parents tell you it’s time to go home and you don’t want to leave. What could

you do to not sin and obey them?

_________________________________________________________________

2. You’ve been told not to eat any more snacks before dinner. You’re still a bit hungry

and you see candy on the counter. What can you do to resist the temptation to sin

by eating the candy?

32

WEEK 14 - I CORINTHIANS 10:23 - 13:4

DAY ONE -- Read I Corinthians 10:23-24

Paul says that not all activities are good for us to do. Not all activities are good in

helping others to do good. We need to pick activities that help us do good. Putting

others first is a way to show love to them.

Circle the activities that are good and helpful below.

being selfish with our things seeing a movie that has a lot of

bad words in it

raking leaves for an elderly

neighbor playing games and being nice and

fair whether you win or loose

DAY TWO -- Read I Corinthians 10:31

Paul says everything we do should give God glory. Giving God glory means to praise

Him for His characteristics and to give Him honor and be thankful for all He’s done and

will do. How can we do that? We do that by doing things that please God, like sharing,

loving, being kind, and so on. We also talk about God in ways that please Him like

telling others how great He is, how loving He is, how thankful we are, and more. We

will get much joy from bringing God glory!

Circle the words or phrases that show someone bringing God glory.

forgiving others disobeying your parents sharing

telling others about God being mean and nasty being thankful to God

helping others calling others mean and hurtful names

DAY THREE -- Read I Corinthians 12:14-18

These verses tell us that when you are saved God gives you gifts, or abilities, that are to

be used in the church. They bring God glory and help others. But we don’t all have the

same abilities. It’s like a body. A body doesn’t have lots of eyes, or no ears, but enough

of many different parts to make the body work best. There are many ways to serve God

at church, and all are needed and are good.

Color the word that is what we have been given by God to serve Him and the church

with.

33

DAY FOUR -- Read I Corinthians 13:1-3

This is a wonderful chapter on love. These verses tell us that we could speak beautiful

words, have great faith, give to the poor and even give up our life, but without love

these things are nothing. Love from God takes away our sinful selfishness and gives us

the desire and ability to put others before ourselves and do things for their good. This

kind of love is only from God and with His help you can show it more and more in your

life. Showing love to others brings joy to you !

Draw a picture below of you showing love to someone. It could be anything such as

putting others before yourself, being helpful to someone, showing kindness, and so on.

DAY FIVE -- Read I Corinthians 13:4

Love is described in verses 4-8. In today’s verse we read that love is patient. To be

patient means you don’t get back at someone when they do wrong to you. That’s hard to

do when you only think about yourself, but you can do it with God’s help.

Circle the correct answer to each of the following examples.

1. How could you show love to someone who called you a mean name?

a. call him or her a mean name back

b. ask them to stop and then treat them nicely

2. How could you show love to someone who hit you?

a. ask them to stop and talk about the problem to work it out

b. hit them back

3. How could you show love to someone who pushed you in line?

a. push them back harder

b. ask them to stop and not push them back

34

WEEK 15 - I CORINTHIANS 13:5 - 16:14

DAY ONE -- Read I Corinthians 13:5

Here we read that love does not act unbecomingly, or rudely. People are rude when they

ignore others who talk to them, when they aren’t respectful of others, act like a snob, and

so on. Love doesn’t treat others like that. Love isn’t selfish either. Also love is not

provoked, or easily angered. Love is patient and kind and forgiving. Love also doesn’t

keep a record of wrongs done. That means you don’t keep reminding someone of the

wrong they did after they ask for forgiveness. Circle the correct answer to each example.

1. How could you show love to someone who was talking to you?

a. be rude and ignore them b. listen and answer them nicely

2. How could you show love to someone who wants to play with you and your toys?

a. share and play together b. grab all your toys and not let them play with you

3. How could you show love to someone who has asked for forgiveness for something

they’ve done wrong?

a. remind them all day what they did to you b. let it go and don’t bring it up

again

DAY TWO -- Read I Corinthians 13:6-8

Love doesn’t rejoice in evil, but in the truth. Love isn’t glad to see evil being done. Love

protects, trust, hopes and endures. Love goes on and on. Love never fails, or lets others

down. Love is eternal. Write “Yes” or “No” to the following questions.

1. If you are showing love, will you be happy to see someone being treated badly? _____

2. If you are showing love, will you put others interests before your own?_____

DAY THREE -- Read I Corinthians 15:51-53

These verses talk about the rapture. That’s something that will happen in the future, and

only God knows when. The believers will meet Jesus in the clouds and rise into heaven.

We will be changed into glorified bodies; bodies that will not have problems with them

and will last forever. What a wonderful things to look forward to!

Find and circle the following words in the puzzle.

DAY FOUR -- Read I Corinthians 15:58

Paul encourages the believers to be steadfast, standing firm in their faith. We shouldn’t

be listening to false teachings about God’s Word, because it can mislead us. We need to

study and know only God’s Word, and our faith will grow and we can then stand up for

God’s truth better.

The Bible is so important to our growth as believers. Draw yourself either reading the

Bible or listening to God’s Word being taught in the following situations.

1. At your house reading the Bible ~ you reading alone, or your whole family together.

2. Draw yourself listening to God’s Word being taught by your pastor in church.

3. Draw yourself listening to God’s Word being taught in Sunday School.

DAY FIVE -- Read I Corinthians 16:13-14

Paul is at the end of his letter to the Corinthians. He wants them to be on their guard, or

to be alert. What should they be on guard for? They needed to be on guard so they

would stand firm in their faith and in God’s truth. It’s very important that we don’t start

believing wrong things about God and His Word. Only what is written in the Bible is

from God and needs to be obeyed and paid attention to. Sadly, many churches teach

things from the Bible AND from people’s ideas about life. Fill in the blanks below.

1. Who told certain men what to write in the Bible? __________________________

WEEK 16 - II PETER 1:1 – 9

DAY ONE -- Read II Peter 1:1-2

II Peter is a second letter written by Peter. Peter calls himself a bond-servant. That's a

slave. He has made God his Master. He says he's an apostle of Jesus Christ. That was

one of the 12 men specially chosen by Jesus. Peter is explaining who he is and in verse 2

gives them a greeting. He says "grace and peace be multiplied to you." "Grace" is

undeserved favor and "peace" is peace between you and God. When you become a

believer you are no longer against God or His enemy, but are at peace with Him.

Fill in the blank below using verse 2:

"Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the ____________ of God and of Jesus our

Lord." Without ______________ of God we can't have His g_____ and p_____ .

DAY TWO -- Read II Peter 1:3-4

God has given you, from the moment you became a believer, all that you need to be

godly and live a life that pleases God. Where can you go to find out how God wants you

to act?...look in the Bible. Where would you look to find out how to know about God

more?...go to the Bible. Where can you find out how God wants you to handle your

anger?...look in the Bible. Circle the correct answer to each question below.

1. Where can you find out how God wants you to handle your anger?

Bible dictionary

2. Where can you find out how God wants you to handle kids that are mean to you?

in school in the Bible

3. Where can you find out what God says about fear and how to handle it?

in the Bible in a cookbook

4. Where can you find out what God is like?

in the Bible in the TV guide

DAY THREE -- Read II Peter 1:5-6

Peter starts a list of qualities that believers should develop. He says we should have

moral excellence. That means to be good and do good things for others without expecting

good in return. Next is knowledge: that refers to knowledge about God. Then

self-control is listed: that means not giving in to every feeling you have or every want

you have~ not hitting when you're mad and not grabbing things from others when you

want to. Perseverance is listed next: that means to not give up when things get hard, but

keep on trying. The last thing listed is godliness: that refers to an awe and respect of

God and who He is, and growing to be more like Christ.

Write on the line below one of the qualities that is underlined in the paragraph above, and

write how you can improve that quality in your life.

The quality I need to work on is: ____________________________________

I could start to do better at that quality by: ________________________________

37

DAY FOUR -- Read II Peter 1:7

In verse 7 Peter finishes the list of qualities we should be working on. First is brotherly

kindness. That means to care for others with your actions, not just your thoughts. Next is

love. That is the Greek word "agape". It's the kind of love God shows us. It's a love that

puts others first, and means you give up things for them.

Write on the line below one of the qualities listed in the paragraph above and how you

could start to work on it.

The quality I need to work on is: ___________________________________________

I could start to do better at that quality by:

______________________________________________________________________

DAY FIVE -- Read II Peter 1:8-9

If we are working on the qualities listed in verses 5-7 that we've looked at already, we

will be useful to God. Peter tells us they should be increasing, or you should be doing

them more as you get older. To be fruitful means to “bear fruit.” A fruit tree that's

growing bears fruit. Believers bearing fruit are doing those qualities and many others

listed in the Bible. Actions are the fruit. A believer that's growing bears fruit in doing

good deeds to others.

In the tree below write three good deeds that you could do this week.

38

WEEK 17 - II PETER 1:10 – 2:4

DAY ONE -- Read II Peter 1:10

Peter wants us to be sure we are saved and are believers. Some people say they're saved

but don't believe all of God’s truths; others think they are saved but don't want to obey

God with their actions. It's very important to understand what God did to save you and to

know what you are saved from. When you become a believer and a child of God, you

make Him Lord and Master of your life and spend your life bringing Him glory and

honor. If you haven't decided to do this yet, or don't really understand what you need to

do to be saved, talk to someone who is saved and understands. Don't say you're a

believer just to make people happy. Do it because you want to and you understand

salvation.

Unscramble to missing word from the first sentence in the paragraph above.

Peter wants us to be ____________________ we are saved and are believers.

usre

DAY TWO -- Read II Peter 1:16-18

Earlier when Jesus was still here as a man, Peter, James and John were honored to go to

the top of a mountain and see Jesus transfigured into His true holy form. Peter now tells

us he was an eyewitness to it, it's not a made-up story. He heard God say Jesus was His

Son. It's one of many times that proves that Jesus was God's Son.

Fill in the blanks from the end of verse 17 below.

"This is My ______________ _________ with whom I am ______ ____________ ."

DAY THREE -- Read II Peter 1:20-21

Here are verses that make it clear that the Bible was written by God telling men what to

write. Men did not make up things to write, but God's Holy Spirit gave them the words.

Circle "Yes" or "No" to each question.

1. Did God give men the words to write down in the Bible?

a. Yes b. No

2. Did men write whatever they wanted to about God in the Bible?

a. Yes b. No

3. Did God give us the Bible without using men at all?

a. Yes b. No

39

DAY FOUR -- Read II Peter 2:1

Peter begins to write about false teachers. We need to know about them so we can tell

who they are and stay away from them. We read in today's verse that the false teachers

tell false things about God, some even saying there is no God! They will try to get into

the church and turn people away from God's truth! We need to be on the alert and not let

them get into the church.

Fill in the answers to the questions below.

1. Where do we find all we need to know about God

and how to live life pleasing to Him?

_____________________________________________________________

2. When men teach things that are not in the Bible about God,

we should or should not believe those men?

_____________________________________________________________

3. Someone who doesn't teach the truth about God and

doesn't teach only what's in the Bible is called

a _____________________________________________________ teacher.

DAY FIVE -- Read II Peter 2:4

Peter begins to tell how God will punish the unbelievers. In verse 4 he tells how God

punished the angels who sinned and went against Him. Even if false teachers sometimes

seem to be successful, they will be punished by God at God's set time. God has a

purpose for waiting.

Color in the word below that tells what God will do to all who teach false things about

Him.

40

WEEK 18 - II PETER 2:17 – 3:7

DAY ONE -- Read II Peter 2:17

The false teachers are like springs without water, empty and offering nothing. They tell

people things about God that are not true and won’t help people grow closer to God.

They don’t offer the truth about God and all He does give us!

Circle which one we should always believe and live by:

God’s truth in the Bible Man’s ideas

DAY TWO -- Read II Peter 2:19

Here is another verse that tells us that the false teachers promise things that won’t come

about. They promise freedom from sin, when really they are slaves to sin. Those who

are believers in the true God are free from sin because Jesus died on the cross for our sins

and paid the price.

Circle which the false teachers and those who follow them are:

free from sin slaves to sin

Circle which God offers to all who believe in Him and follows Him only:

freedom from sin slaves to sin

DAY THREE -- Read II Peter 3:3-4

The mockers are people who say Jesus wasn’t the Son of God and that He won’t return to

earth as He promised. They say all the world just keeps going on as it has since creation.

Though no one knows the exact time Jesus will return, we as believers have faith He will

do as He promised.

Unscramble the name below who mockers don’t believe in.

DAY ONE -- Read II Thessalonians 1:1-4

This letter was written to the church in the city of Thessalonica. Paul wrote it, but

Silvanus and Timothy share his concern and love for the church. Paul was very

encouraged by the way the believers were handling being mistreated for their faith in

Jesus Christ. They were standing firm in their faith.

DAY FOUR -- Read II Thessalonians 3:6-7

Some believers were misbehaving there and Paul tells the church to correct them. If

someone continues to sin and won’t stop, they need to be corrected. Paul was an example

to them when he was there earlier. We should help others to stop sinning again and

again.

We know that Paul was serious about this by the word he used in the beginning part of

verse 6. Write the word in the blank below.

“Now we ____________________________________________ you brethren, ....”

On whose authority did Paul say this? Fill in the blanks below, also using verse 6.

“in the name of our Lord_______________________ ______________________ ,”

DAY FIVE -- Read II Thessalonians 3:8-9

Paul says he was an example to the believers there in another way. He worked when he

was there, instead of telling them to pay for his needs. Work is important for us to do.

God wants us to be good workers. Not being a good worker is being lazy.

What kinds of jobs/chores do you do at home?

WEEK 23 - II THESSALONIANS 3:10 - 18

DAY ONE -- Read II Thessalonians 3:10

Paul is still talking about the need for everyone to work. People can’t provide for their

families if they don’t work. Work is good for us to do. It helps us be responsible. Paul

didn’t want the church supporting families when the families could be working on their

own, meeting their own needs.

Circle “YES” or “NO” to the following questions.

1. If your dad didn’t work to support you and your family, could you eat as well

as you do?

YES NO

2. If your dad didn’t work to support you and your family, could you live where

you do now?

3. Do we learn good lessons by working and being responsible?

YES NO

DAY TWO -- Read II Thessalonians 3:11-12

There were some at the church in Thessalonica that were not working and Paul used them

as an example of the bad that happens. They were undisciplined, lazy and had too much

time on their hands and were being nosy.

Look up these verses from Proverbs and write what they have to say about work.

1. Proverbs 14:23 - _______________________________________________

2. Proverbs 19:15b - _______________________________________________

DAY THREE -- Read II Thessalonians 3:13

Paul encourages the believers to not get weary, or tired, of doing good. It’s hard to see

others around us not doing what they should, and sometimes we want to say “I don’t

want to do this either”. But God says to keep on doing right and not be concerned with

those around you.

Fill in the answers to the questions below.

1. When someone is not picking up their toys like you were ALL told to do,

what right thing should you do?

51

DAY FOUR -- Read II Thessalonians 3:14-15

Paul tells the church to not socialize, or get together outside of church activities, with

someone who won’t stop a certain sin they are doing. This is a way the church can help

that person see they are wrong and repent and ask God to forgive them. The goal of

doing this is to get them to stop the sin.

Unscramble the words below from the above paragraph.

DAY FIVE -- Read II Thessalonians 3:16-18

Paul ends his letter with words of encouragement. He wants the church to work together

in peace and unity. We need to work out the big problems together, and forgive and love

through the little problems.

When dealing with other believers, whose interests do we need to make important and

put above our own to have peace and unity?

WEEK 24 - ROMANS 1:1 - 2:11

DAY ONE -- Read Romans 1:1-4

Paul writes this book to the churches in the city of Rome. He tells us he is an apostle set

apart for the gospel of God. The word gospel means “good news”. The good news is

that Jesus paid the penalty for our sins and by faith in Him we can have new spiritual life

and look forward to eternal life with God in heaven. Paul reminds them that Jesus was

God’s Son and that He rose from the dead (resurrected).

Answer the following questions.

1. Who wrote the book? _____________________________________________

2. What city were the churches that he wrote to in? __________________________

3. What word means “good news”? ______________________________________

DAY TWO -- Read Romans 1:16-17

The gospel, the good news, shows the power of God that saves us. To be saved from our

sins, we need to have faith, or believe, that Jesus paid the penalty for our sins in place of

us. Salvation is open to any one who would have faith, Jews or Gentiles (anyone who

wasn’t a Jew). How thankful we are that God made a way for US to be saved!

Color in the meaning of the word “gospel” below.

DAY THREE -- Read Romans 1:20-21

These verses tell us that God has made Himself known to all people from the very

beginning through creation. But the unbelievers didn’t honor God, or give him thanks,

but rejected God. Sin turned them away from God.

Answer the question below.

What is it that shows everyone that there is a God?

DAY FOUR -- Read Romans 1:28, 32

Unbelievers reject God, so God gives them over to their sinful minds. They do all kinds

of sins and even approved of others who do them, too.

Color the words below.

DAY FIVE -- Read Romans 2:9-11

There are two kinds of people: those who believe in God and those who don’t believe in

Him. The unbelievers will be judged for their sin. But believers will receive glory,

honor and peace.

Write who the two kinds of people are below:

WEEK 25 - ROMANS 3:10 - 5:10

DAY ONE -- Read Romans 3:10-12

Verses 10-12 tells us that no person who was born, or ever will be born, can be right, or

clean from sin, before God. No one will seek after God, either. Sin makes us reject God.

Fill in the answers using the following words below.

EVERYONE NO ONE

1. Without God, _______________________________ will be right before God.

2. Without God, ________________________________ will seek after God.

3. Sin makes ______________________________________ reject God.

DAY TWO -- Read Romans 1:20-21, 3:23

All people have sinned and “fall short”, or can not measure up, to God’s glory. But God

gives us the free gift of salvation. It is faith in Him that saves us, not anything we DO.

DAY FOUR -- Read Romans 5:3-5

These verses tell us how we can react to problems and troubles. We have God on our

side! We are His children! Problems will come along all through out our life, but we

don’t need to be afraid. We can learn and get stronger through problems, if we react as

God wants us to.

RIGHT WRONG

2. When we have a problem, if we act sinfully, we are doing

RIGHT WRONG

3. When we have a problem, if we try to obey God’s Word, we are doing

RIGHT WRONG

DAY FIVE -- Read Romans 5:8-10

These verses remind us of all God has done for us. Christ died for us, He justified us

(declared us righteous), and made us at peace with God instead of being His enemy.

Color in the word below that tells what we say to God knowing all that.

56

WEEK 26 - ROMANS 6:6 - 8:9

DAY ONE -- Read Romans 6:6-8

The believers’ old self, the sinful nature, has been crucified. A believer is a new creation

that can glorify and honor, God. We were all born as slaves to sin. Sin is the slave

master. Believers have God as Master. There is a spiritual change when someone

becomes a believer.

Match the words on the right to which phrase they go with on the left.

slaves to sin

Old Self (sinful nature) can glorify, honor God

New Creation (believer) Master is God

is God’s enemy

DAY TWO -- Read Romans 6:11-13

Believers aren’t slaves to sin anymore. Believers are God’s children and HE is the

Master. Believers are then to live differently than before. Paul tells us not to keep on

doing sinful things with our body members. Our “body member” are our mouth (our

words), our mind (our thoughts), our feet (where we go), and our hands (what we do).

Believers have the power to resist sin and should resist.

Match the good action with the body member below.

HANDS say kind, encouraging words NOT mean, hurtful words

FEET think about all the things you are thankful for and

NOT what you don’t have

MIND take care of your toys instead of breaking them

MOUTH go places that your parents say you can go

The wages, or payment, for sin is death, both physical death and spiritual death.

Spiritual death separates us from God. But God has given us a free gift of spiritual life.

Jesus saved us from our sins, not by anything we DID. He gave it to us freely. Believers

accept by faith the free gift and have eternal life with God in heaven. A believer’s life

should show thankfulness for eternal life.

Fill in the missing words to verse 23 below.

DAY FOUR -- Read Romans 8:1, 3-4

Paul says that believers won’t be condemned, or punished, for their sins. Jesus paid the

price for them. Believers need to live like believers. Verse 4 uses the word “walk”, and

that refers to our life. Believers should walk, or live, according to how God wants us to

live and not by our sinful desires.

WEEK 27 - ROMANS 8:14 - 10:17

DAY ONE -- Read Romans 8:14-16

These verses tell us that believers have been made God’s children. They are not slaves to

sin and living in fear. As God’s children, believers can call Him “Abba, Father”. Abba

means ‘daddy.’ Because Jesus saved us from our sins, we can have a close relationship

with God.

Answer the questions below.

1. What is a characteristic, or quality, a dad could have? ______________________

2. What is a characteristic, or quality, you like and are thankful for in God who is

your spiritual Father? __________________________

DAY TWO -- Read Romans 8:28

Everything that happens to a believer is in God’s plan and is for good. We can learn

many things that will help us live for God. But sometimes it’s hard to see what the good

can be. Don’t focus on the situation, but on what you can learn from it. For example, if

you want to go to a friend’s house, but your parents say “no.” You can learn patience and

obedience and not fuss.

Circle the phrases below that are good things we can learn.

to be angry to be obedient to be thankful to hate to share

to be mean to be selfish to forgive others to be helpful

DAY THREE -- Read Romans 8:35, 38-39

DAY FOUR -- Read Romans 10:9

This verse tells us we only need to believe, have faith, that Jesus is Lord and paid for our

sins, to be saved. We don’t need to do certain things, go to church so many times, or

whatever. We only need to believe! How wonderful God is, that He offers our salvation

like that!

Color in the word below that tells all we need to do to be saved.

DAY FIVE -- Read Romans 10:14-15, 17

These verses tell us that God wants us to go out and preach to those who haven’t heard

God’s Word yet. We often think of missionaries when we read these verses. They

usually go to different countries and bring God’s Word to the people there. But this verse

is for all of us, no matter where we live. We can all tell the people around us, neighbors,

friends, and so on, the good news of Jesus Christ.

WEEK 28 - ROMANS 11:33 - 12:15

◊DAY ONE -- Read Romans 11:33-36

These are terrific verses about God! God is SO great and wonderful. We read here that

humans can’t fully understand God. We can understand a lot, but God is WAY beyond

what our minds can know. That tells us that God is more wonderful then we’ll ever be

able to know. That’s very encouraging, isn’t it! There’s nothing that’s too hard for God

and nothing is out of His plan and control. We need to give God praise and glory and

honor for who He is!

1. Why can’t we understand God? _____________________________

2. How can you praise God and give Him glory for who He is? __________________

3. What can you say to God when thinking about who God is? __________________

◊DAY TWO -- Read Romans 12:1-2

Paul tells us to present our bodies as a living and holy sacrifice to God. That means that

everything you do with your body (thoughts, words and actions) should be pleasing to

God. When we please God, we are giving Him honor and glory. Verse 2 tells us not to

conform, or change, to be like the world around us. The world says it’s fine to watch a

lot of bad language on TV or in the movies. God doesn’t. God says to think of things

that are pure, lovely, right, honorable, excellent, and so on. So what you choose to watch

on TV, for example, can either help you please God, or make it hard to please God. Be

careful what you choose!

Circle the correct answer for each question below.

1. In verse 1, Paul uses the word bodies to stand for:

a. the clothes you wear. b. your thought, words and actions. c. taking a bath.

2. Everything we do, say and think about should

a. honor ourselves. b. honor our toys. c. honor God.

3. What we choose to watch on TV or in the movies

a. can help us honor God. b. can make it hard to honor God c. both ‘a’ and ‘b’

◊DAY THREE -- Read Romans 12:9-11

Paul gives us some specific things we can do that will please God. First, he tells us to

love like God loves. That kind of love isn’t selfish, but puts others before yourself. Then

we’re to hate evil and sin. All sin is evil to God. Don’t get so used to some sins that you

tell yourself they are okay to do! We should also serve others joyfully.

1. We should love like _________________________loves.

2. When we _______________________________ others, we should put them

before our _______________________________ .

3. We ___________________________________ others joyfully.

61

◊DAY FOUR -- Read Romans 12:12-13

Paul goes on with his list of things we can do to please God. Verse 12 gives us three.

We are to rejoice in hope, or rejoice because we have hope in God; we are to persevere in

tribulation, or be patient in trouble; and we are to be devoted to prayer, or pray often to

God for His wisdom and guidance. In all these ways we go to God for strength and help.

Verse 13 tells us to help others who have needs and to be hospitable, or be friendly to

strangers.

Circle the correct answer to each question below.

1. We can rejoice in hope by

a. being thankful to God that He saved us.

b. being rude and telling God what you demand He give you. 2. We can persevere in tribulation, or be patient in troubles, by

a. doing anything you can to get out of the trouble.

b. going to God for help and doing what pleases Him while in the trouble.

3. We can be devoted to prayer by

a. praying often to God for help and wisdom

b. praying to God only one time a week

◊DAY FIVE -- Read Romans 12:14-15

Paul goes on with his list of ways we can please God. Verse 14 says to bless those who

persecute you. To bless means to “speak well of”. We are to speak well of, or be nice

even to our enemies, those who persecute you. That’s hard, and without God’s strength

we wouldn’t be able to do it. God does give us power through the Holy Spirit. We need

to trust in Him to do what’s right. We are also to rejoice with those who rejoice and be

sad, or weep, when others are sad. That’s one way we put others before ourselves.

A. Write your name on the blank below.

GOD ___________________________________

B. Write the correct name from the words above to fill in the blanks below.

1. _______________________ gives you the power to bless your enemies.

2. ________________________ can please God through his/her actions.

3. ___________________________________ can rejoice, or be happy, when

his/her friend rejoices.

62

WEEK 29 - ROMANS 12:17 - 15:7

DAY ONE -- Read Romans 12:17-18

Paul talks about getting revenge here. We should not get revenge. So when someone

says something mean, you DON’T say something mean back. When someone hits you,

you DON’T hit them back, and so on. God will judge them for their evil, NOT you.

Circle the correct answer to each question below.

1. When someone hits you, you could

a. hit them back b. tell them to stop, walk away if need be.

2. When someone calls you a name, you could

a. ignore it. b. call them a mean name back.

3. When someone takes your pencil, you could

a. take THEIR pencil. b. ask for it back.

DAY TWO -- Read Romans 12:19-21

God will get revenge on our enemies. We should not. Verse 20 says we can “heap

burning coals on his (our enemies) head” by doing GOOD to him. Your good actions to

your enemy may make him see the evil he’s doing. God tells us not to give in and get

revenge (be overcome by evil). But rather we should overcome evil with good, or do

good to your enemy. Circle the correct name for each question below.

1. Who is the only one to get revenge? God Me My Enemy

2. Who should do good to their enemies? God Me My Enemy

3. Who will be judged for their evil? God Me My Enemy

4. Who should overcome evil with good? God Me My Enemy

DAY THREE -- Read Romans 13:1-2

Paul tells us here that we need to obey our government and its rules. God has allowed

those people to be there and make those rules, even if we sometimes don’t agree with

them. We obey God by obeying our government.

Find and circle the following words in the puzzle below.

DAY FOUR -- Read Romans 14:19

God wants us to pursue, or go after, being a peacemaker and encouraging others to please

God. We can be a peacemaker by not putting ourselves first. We will need to give in and

let others pick first, have a turn first, and so on, at times. It also means we don’t argue

just to have our way. God also wants us to encourage others to please Him. We do that

by not laughing when someone does wrong. We shouldn’t tempt them to do wrong. We

should help them to do right.

Draw a line from the words that describe a peacemaker to the words “peacemaker”

below.

argue give up things

fight PEACEMAKER selfish

love put others first

DAY FIVE -- Read Romans 15:5-7

Paul is near the end of his letter and encourages the believers to have unity, be of one

mind. Believers need to accept each other and not make differences divide them. God

has given each person different abilities and different areas we need to work on. We

need to accept, forgive and love each other. But we DON’T give in on God’s truth just to

accept others, THAT we stand firm on.

The end of verse 6 tells us why we should accept each other. Fill in the blank below

using the verse.

WEEK 30 - ACTS 10:1 - 15:11

DAY ONE -- Read Acts 10:1, 9-15

In previous lessons we read Acts 1-9. We'll start with chapter 10 and this time finish the

book. Acts was written by Luke to a man named Theophilus. In this story Peter is told

by God to meet with a Gentile and tell him about God. Gentiles were people who were

not Jews. The Jews of the Old Testament had many laws to follow to please God.

Among the laws were ones on which kind of meats they could eat. God said some were

"clean", which meant they could eat it, and some were "unclean", which meant they

couldn't eat it. God was telling Peter that now that Jesus had come and died for our sins,

those laws were no longer to be followed. Peter was to go to a Gentile (considered

"unclean") and preach the gospel to him. This was news to the Jews.

1. Who wrote the book of Acts? _________________________________

2. Was it a letter written to one man or a whole church? ____________________

3. Peter was told to go preach the gospel to a ______________________ (not a Jew).

DAY TWO -- Read Acts 10:19-20, 28, 34-35

This is key to the church of the New Testament...that both Jews and non-Jews (Gentiles)

can be saved. In the Old Testament, the nation of Israel had a special place in God’s

plan. Jesus Christ came and changed that in the New Testament.

Circle the correct answer to the questions below.

1. In the New Testament God offered salvation to

a. only the Jews b. both Jews and Gentiles c. to only Gentiles

2. A Gentile is

a. anyone who is a Jew b. anyone who is not a Jew

DAY THREE -- Read Acts 11:1, 18, 21, 26

Preaching the gospel to Gentiles was hard for many to accept. Some Jews from the

church in Jerusalem came to a city called Antioch to make sure the preachers were doing

what they should. The men understood that this new idea was from God and good. In

verse 26 we read that believers were first called Christians at Antioch. The ending "-ian"

meant "belonging to the part of" and it was added to the word "Christ" to form the word

Christian, referring to those belonging to Christ.

Circle the correct answer.

1. Preaching the gospel to the ______________ was hard for some Jews to accept.

GENTILES AMERICANS

2. The word "Christian" meant __________________ .

THOSE BELONGING TO CHRIST THOSE BELONGING TO CHRIS

65

DAY FOUR -- Read Acts 12:5-7, 10-11

Peter was put in prison for preaching the gospel. While he is there, God sends an angel

who frees Peter. They walk out past all the guards and Peter goes to see his friends. God

and His plan can't be stopped by any man, or jail, or anything. God had a purpose in

freeing Peter in that way and did so.

Fill in the blanks.

1. Who freed Peter? _______________________________

2. When the angel appeared in Peter's cell, a bright __________________ shone too.

3. The angel led Peter past all the ____________________________ at the prison.

4. Peter went to see his _____________________________ when he was freed.

DAY FIVE -- Read Acts 14:1-2, 19

Paul is preaching to the Gentiles and some Jews (who don't believe Jesus was who He

said He was) got mad at Paul. They stoned him. It was a punishment the Jews did to kill

someone. They would get in a circle around the person and all throw stones at him until

he was dead. They thought they killed Paul and left him. But God restored him and he

was encouraging the believers to be strong in hard times.

Find and circle the following words in the puzzle below.

WEEK 31 - ACTS 16:1 – 18:11

DAY ONE -- Read Acts 16:1-2, 14-15

Paul travels to the cities of Derbe and Lystra. There he meets Timothy. Timothy is a

believer and Paul wants Timothy to join him (Paul) on his travels preaching and teaching.

We also read about a woman named Lydia who became a believer after hearing Paul

teach. After she became a believer, she and others were baptized as a public sign that she

was a believer.

Write the name of the man who Paul wanted to take along as he traveled and preached.

Paul would later write the New Testament books of I and II Timothy to this man.

__________________________________________________

DAY TWO -- Read Acts 16:23-26, 30-33

Paul and Silas are put in prison for preaching the truth. God freed them. This time God

used an earthquake. The guard in verse 30 asked how he could be saved.

Fill in the missing words from verse 31 below.

"And they said, __________________________________________ in the Lord

Jesus, and you shall be _____________________________________________,

you and your household."

DAY THREE -- Read Acts 17:1-5, 11

Paul is now in the city of Thessalonica. He tries to explain to the Jews about Jesus and

who He was. Remember, most of the Jews still did not think Jesus was God's Son. They

expected God's Son to come as a military leader to save them from their enemies. Most

of the Jews there didn't believe, but verse 4 says multitudes (a LOT) of Gentiles did!

Later the books of I and II Thessalonians would be written to the church here. Sadly, the

Jews got mad at Paul. He left that city and went to Berea. Verse 11 says the Jews there

believed in Jesus with eagerness!

Draw a line from the city name to how the Jews received God's word:

Thessalonica received with eagerness

Berea some believed, but most formed a mob

against Paul

67

DAY FOUR -- Read Acts 17:24-25, 29

Paul has traveled to the city of Athens. There they worship many false gods and had

many idols or statues of those gods. Paul is offended by the idols. Remember the second

commandment? God told the Jews not to have any idols. Paul tells the people there in

Athens to worship the true God and not idols.

Paul tells how great and powerful our God is in verse 24 and 29. Write the missing facts

about God from those verses in the blanks below.

FACT #1 - God is creator. "The God who ___________________

the world and _____________________things in it."

FACT #2 - God is over all things. "...since He is ____________ of heaven and earth..."

FACT #3 - God is not in a building or idol.

A. "...does not dwell in __________________made with hands."

B. "...we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like ___________ or

_________ or _________ an image formed by the art and thought of man."

DAY FIVE -- Read Acts 18:1-3, 11

Now Paul is in the city of Corinth. Paul meets a couple, Aquila and Priscilla, who are

believers and stays with them while teaching in that city. The books of I and II

Corinthians were later written to the church here.

What did Paul do when he worked a job to earn money? Write it below.

_______________________________________________________________

How long did Paul stay there with them? _________________________________________

68

WEEK 32 - ACTS 19:24 – 23:24

DAY ONE -- Read Acts 19:24, 40-41

Paul was in the city of Ephesus and preaching the good news of the gospel. Some

tradesmen who made idols (statues of a false god), didn't like Paul telling people not to

worship the false gods. The tradesmen were worried about going out of business if

people didn't worship the false gods. So they got a mob together against Paul. God

provided a man who quieted the mob down and nothing happened to Paul. Later Paul

would write the book of Ephesians and send it to the believers there. God is sovereign.

That means He is in control of everything. Nothing stops God's plans, nothing surprises

God, and nothing is out of His control.

Answer "Yes" or "No" to the following questions.

1. God is sovereign. That means He is in control of everything.________________

2. If God wanted the mob to hurt Paul or put him in prison, would the mob have let

Paul go free? ________________________________

3. Did God provide the man to quiet the mob and protect Paul? __________________

DAY TWO -- Read Acts 20:28-30, 32

Paul is finishing his talk to the believers in Troas. He leaves them with a warning to

watch out for "savage wolves". That doesn't mean the animals, but it refers to men who

would come into the church and change the truth of God's Word. We should not put up

with people like that in our church. Then Paul encourages them in verse 32 about God's

Word and His grace.

Write below two things Paul says about God's Word and His grace from verse 32.

(“which is …”)

1. ___________________________ 2. ___________________________DAY THREE -- Read Acts 22:1, 6-15

Paul is in Jerusalem and is standing before the Jews so he can explain to them about

Jesus. He gives his testimony here in today's verses. A testimony is telling others how

God saved you and how He's working in your life.

Fill in the blanks below using verses 6-15.

1. What did Paul (also known as Saul) hear a voice say?

(v. 7) ___________________________________________________________

2. What does God want Paul to be for Him? (v. 15) a ______________________

DAY FOUR -- Read Acts 22:21, 25, 29

God tells Paul He'll send him to preach the gospel to the Gentiles (anyone who isn't a

Jew). When Paul tells the Jews listening to him that fact...they get very angry.

Remember, the Jews still thought that they were the only ones able to know God. They

were going to have Paul scourged (whipped). Then the guard found out Paul was a

Roman citizen. They couldn't beat to a Roman citizen without a trial.

Unscramble the missing word in the sentence below.

WEEK 33 - ACTS 24:23 – 27:35

DAY ONE -- Read Acts 24:23, 27

Paul is being held in prison by a Roman official named Felix. He has questioned Paul and

doesn't find anything that he's done wrong, yet the Jews want to kill him. So Felix leaves

Paul in prison with some freedoms. Felix is replaced by a man named Festus two years

later.

Circle the correct answer to each question.

1. Paul is held in prison by a man named

a. Gentile b. Felix c. Marcus

2. Paul is in prison ______ years before Felix is replaced.

a. 10 b. 1 c. 2

3. Felix is replaced by

a. Festus b. Felix c. Paul

DAY TWO -- Read Acts 25:18-19, 25

Festus has questioned Paul too. He can't find anything that Paul did wrong either. But

Paul, being a Roman citizen, asked for a trial in Rome. God has all this in His control.

He is sovereign. He has a purpose for Paul to give his testimony in Rome.

Fill in the blanks below.

1. All that God does brings glory, honor, to ________________________ (me, God).

2. All that we do as believers should bring glory, honor, to

________________________ (myself, God).

DAY THREE -- Read Acts 26:21-23, 31-32

Paul tells what the prophets had said about Jesus long ago. Paul explains to Festus and

the Jews the gospel. Paul is clear that God has helped him even to be there that day.

Unscramble the answer to each question below.

1. Who helped Paul? _________________________________ (odG)

2. Who was glorified by Paul telling God's truth to those listening? _________ (dGo)

3. Who is in control of everything? __________________________ (odG)

4. Who can help us anytime? _____________________________ (Gdo)

71

DAY FOUR -- Read Acts 27:1, 18-19, 22-25

Paul is being sent to Rome to go on trial there. Rome is a long way away. He travels

first by ship. The ship comes into a bad storm, but God lets Paul know that He will save

all the people on the ship and no one will die in the storm.

Answer the following questions according to verse 25.

1. Who did Paul believe would save them?

____________________________________________________

2. Paul encouraged the others on the ship to “take ___?___” or cheer up their _____.

____________________________________________________

3. Who told Paul how the situation would turn out?

_____________________________________________________

DAY FIVE -- Read Acts 27:34-35

The storm is still raging, yet Paul encourages them to have faith in God and what He will

do. Paul encourages them to eat and keep up their strength.

Write on the line what Paul did in front of all the men on the ship when they were ready

to eat. (see verse 35)

Paul gave __________________________________________________ to God.

72

WEEK 34 - ACTS 27:41 – 28:31

DAY ONE -- Read Acts 27:41-44

The ship hit a reef and was stuck. It would sink and break apart. Roman soldiers were

held responsible for their prisoners. The guards thought maybe they should kill the

prisoners so none would escape. One guard keeps them from doing it and they all

survive and make it to shore. God again protected Paul and keeps His word to Paul.

Add the suffix "-ful" to the word "faith" and write it on the blank below.

God is ___________________________________________________________ .

DAY TWO -- Read Acts 28:1-3, 5, 10

The island near the ship wreck is called Malta. The people who lived on the island were

good to the men from the ship. Sitting by a fire, a viper or snake, bites Paul. Usually a

person would die or swell up, but nothing happened to Paul. God controlled that

situation. When another ship came along for them to travel on, the islanders sent supplies

along.

DAY FOUR -- Read Acts 28:23-24

Paul gives his testimony about God and explains who Jesus was to the Jews in Rome.

Verse 24 says some believed the truth about Jesus, but others didn't.

Write the two sources Paul used to prove Jesus was who He said He was in verse 23.

1. ______________________________________________________________

2. ______________________________________________________________

DAY FIVE -- Read Acts 28:28-31

Paul was not killed as the unbelieving Jews wanted, but the Roman officials had him

under house-arrest. That meant he was in prison and had limited freedoms, but lived in a

house instead of prison for two years. But Paul was not discouraged, he didn't whine and

he didn't complain. He preached the gospel to his visitors and helped them grow in their

understanding of God. Paul wrote letters to churches during those two years also. Those

letters are books of the New Testament. They were Ephesians, Colossians, Philemon and

Philippians.

Write two things you learned about Paul or God from the book of Acts below.

WEEK 35 - JONAH 1:1 - 2:3

DAY ONE -- Read Jonah 1:1-3

The city of Nineveh was a city full of wicked people. God was going to judge them

unless they repented, which means to turn away from sins and try not to repeat them.

God chose Jonah to bring that message to Nineveh. But, as we read in verse 3, Jonah

doesn’t want to go and FLEES (runs) the opposite way.

Circle the correct answer to the following questions.

1. Can anyone flee, or run away, from God?

a. yes b. no

2. Did Jonah obey God?

a. yes b. no

3. Who did Jonah put as more important to himself?

a. God b. himself

DAY TWO -- Read Jonah 1:4-6

Jonah gets on a ship to get far away from the city he’s supposed to go to. No one can

hide from God. God sends a terrible storm to come upon the ship. The sailors on the

ship are very afraid. They start to throw things overboard to make the ship lighter. Then

they decide someone on the ship has made a god angry. They think it’s Jonah.

The storm was no “accident”. The sailors picking Jonah as the one responsible for the

storm was no “accident”. God is in control of everything that happens. God uses

different ways to get our attention about sin.

Choose which word fits in the sentence and write in on the blank.

God is in control of _____________________________________ that happens.

DAY THREE -- Read Jonah 1:8-9

Jonah knew about God and what He’s like. Jonah was sinning by running away and not

doing what God told him to do. There’s no excuse for Jonah sinning.

Using verse 9, circle the word or words that Jonah used to describe God.

75

DAY FOUR -- Read Jonah 1:11-12, 16-17

Jonah knows the storm is from God, so Jonah tells the sailors to throw him overboard to

save themselves from the storm. Jonah thought he’d die in the water. God provided for

Jonah by having “a great fish” swallow him. The great fish may have been a whale.

How did God save Jonah from dying in the water? Color the word below.

DAY FIVE -- Read Jonah 2:1-3

Jonah is in the whale for three days. He prays to God from inside the whale. He knows

he has sinned by disobeying God and in this prayer he repents and asks God to forgive

him. God was disciplining Jonah for his sin. But God was still going to use Jonah in His

plan.

Make a cartoon strip by drawing pictures of the events that brought Jonah to be inside a

whale.

#1 - Jonah hearing God telling him to #2 - Jonah running away from God.

#3 - Jonah on the ship in the storm #4 - draw Jonah in the whale

76

WEEK 36 - JONAH 3:1 - 4:11

DAY ONE -- Read Jonah 3:1-2

The whale spit Jonah up onto land. God again tells Jonah to go to the city of Nineveh to

bring them a message. This time Jonah obeys. Even though Jonah disobeyed God at

first, God didn’t give up on Jonah. God still had a plan for Jonah, and would use Jonah.

Circle “YES” or “NO” to the following questions.

1. Is God pleased when we disobey Him? YES NO

2. Will God ever say, “Oh, go ahead and disobey Me,

I don’t care that much”? YES NO

3. Is it sometimes hard work to obey God? YES NO

4. Is it worth it to obey God and please Him, even

if it seems hard at the time? YES NO

DAY TWO -- Read Jonah 3:3-5

Nineveh is described as a “great city”. That doesn’t mean “wonderful”, it means it was

very big. Nineveh was 550 miles away from where Jonah was. He had a very long walk

to get there. The message Jonah told the people when he arrived at Nineveh was that

God would destroy the city in 40 days unless they repented from their sins and ask God

to forgive them. He gave them 40 days to give them time to repent. God showed grace.

Find and circle the following words in the puzzle below.

DAY THREE -- Read Jonah 3:8-10

The king of Nineveh and all the people were afraid of God and repented. Wearing

sackcloth was a sign of sadness. Sackcloth was a very rough material. It was very

uncomfortable to wear. They did that as a way of reminding themselves of their sadness.

We read in verse 10 that God had mercy and didn’t destroy Nineveh.

Circle “Yes” or “No” to the following questions.

1. God forgave the people of Nineveh because they were a big city. YES NO

2. The king & the people repented because they feared God and His judgment. YES NO

3. God forgives us when we repent and ask for forgiveness. YES NO

77

DAY FOUR -- Read Jonah 4:1-4

Wow! Jonah is mad that God had mercy on the Ninevites and didn’t destroy them.

Why? Probably because the Ninevites were known to be very cruel and mean and were

the enemies of the Jews. Jonah should have been rejoicing that a whole city wasn’t

destroyed and they obeyed God, but he wasn’t. Jonah tells of some of the qualities of

God. Jonah is thankful for them when they are shown to him and his people.

List the qualities of God below that Jonah mentions.

1. ____________________________ 4. ____________________________

2. ____________________________ 5. ____________________________

3. ____________________________

DAY FIVE -- Read Jonah 4:6-7, 10-11

God taught Jonah a lesson by using a plant. God made a plant grow fast and give Jonah,

who was pouting outside, shade. Jonah liked the shade very much. The next day God

made a bug eat the plant and the plant died. Jonah lost his shade and was mad again.

God showed Jonah he was being very selfish. Jonah liked it when God did great things

for him, but was mad when God did great things for others. God reminded Jonah that HE

is in control of everything and made everything....NOT Jonah.

Circle the answer to the questions below that cover the whole book of Jonah.

1. What words describe Jonah best?

a. loving, caring, obeying

b. selfish, pouting, disobedient

2. What words describe God?

a. loving, merciful, generous

b. mean, angry, not trustworthy

3. Who is in control of everything, or sovereign?

a. Jonah

b. me

c. God

4. What did God want to teach Jonah at the end of the book?

a. that Jonah was bad for disobeying

b. that God is in control and can have mercy on who He wants to

WEEK 37 - HEBREWS 1:1 - 2:18

DAY ONE -- Read Hebrews 1:1-2

The author of the book of Hebrews is not known. The book starts off talking about God

sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to speak to men.

Check the statements that are made about Jesus in verses 3-4 below.

____ God spoke through Him

____ He is friendly

____ He is heir of all things

____ He made all things (Creator of the world)

____ He is big

DAY TWO -- Read Hebrews 1:5-7

The author proves Jesus Christ is God’s Son. These verses help show someone who

doesn’t believe it, that it’s true.

It makes a big difference whether you believe Jesus is God’s Son, or if Jesus was just a

human like us. Circle the correct answer to the following questions.

1. Who would pay the price for your sins, if Jesus WASN’T God’s Son?

ME HEBREWS

2. Could you get to heaven when you die, if Jesus WASN’T God’s Son?

YES NO

DAY THREE -- Read Hebrews 2:1

We need to always remember what God has done for us to save us from our sins. We

must never think we are saved in any other way. That’s changing God’s Word and plan.

Unscramble the following words from our lesson today.

snsi - ________________________________________

79

DAY FOUR -- Read Hebrews 2:9

Here we read why Jesus became a man. He did it so He could pay the price for our sins,

because we couldn’t do it ourselves. Unlike what any human could do, Jesus conquered

death and rose from the dead and lives in heaven. What a wonderful God we have that

would do all that for us!

What should we say to God and Jesus for all that’s given to us?

________________________________________________________

DAY FIVE -- Read Hebrews 2:17-18

These verses go on to tell us about Jesus becoming a man. Jesus was made a man to be

able to know exactly what we go through so He can help us when we go through hard

times. He paid for our sins, and helps us when we are tempted to sin.

Answer “YES” or “NO” to the following questions.

1. Does Jesus know what it’s like to be a human and how people treat you sometimes?

____________________________

2. Does Jesus know what it’s like to be tempted to sin?

WEEK 38 - HEBREWS 3:13 - 5:3

DAY ONE -- Read Hebrews 3:13

We should encourage each other to stand up against sin. We can help each other be

strong to do what is right and not sin. Once we get in the pattern of sinning, it’s a lot

harder to stop the sin.

Circle the way you can encourage someone to obey God and live pleasing to Him.

make fun of others pray for them do “right” things together

DAY TWO -- Read Hebrews 4:12

This verse shows us how powerful God’s Word is. He compares it to a two-edged sword.

They cut deep and are very sharp. God’s Word, the Bible, can get right to the center of

something you’re thinking about, our attitudes and actions. We can’t hide anything from

God. The Bible has teachings about everything in life for us.

Draw a sword below and then draw a Bible.

DAY THREE -- Read Hebrews 4:13

The author tells us that all believers will be judged by what good deeds they have done

for God when they die. God knows all things, and knows our thoughts. We need to be

obeying Him and doing good things for others to serve God as much as we can. That will

please God.

Fill in the blanks below.

1. Who can hide something from God? ________________________________

2. Does God care if I do anything for anyone else? _______________________

3. Can anyone fool or trick God by doing one thing and thinking another thing? ____

81

DAY FOUR -- Read Hebrews 4:15-16

The author refers to Jesus as a high priest. The high priest in the Old Testament times

would offer sacrifices for the people’s sins, and bring them before God. Jesus is like a

high priest for us. He made the sacrifice for our sins, and brought it before God. Jesus

can help us be strong when tempted to sin, because He was tempted as a man here on

earth. He offers us grace and mercy when we need it.

Answer the questions below using these words.

CRUELLY POOR ALONE KNOWS

1. As a man, Jesus was born into a _____________________________ family,

and knows what it’s like to not have the newest and greatest things to own.

2. As a man, Jesus was treated __________________________________ when

He was taken by soldiers before and while on cross.

3. As a man, Jesus felt _____________________________________, when the

disciples couldn’t stay awake to pray with Him just before going to the cross.

4. Having become a man for a while, Jesus ___________________________

just what it’s like for me to go through hard things in life.

DAY FIVE -- Read Hebrews 5:1-3

These verses tell us what the job of the high priest was, and how Jesus did that job for us.

The biggest thing was making sacrifices for people’s sins. Jesus did that one time for all

believers.

Fill in the blanks below.

1. Who paid for your sins? _________________________________________

2. What did Jesus die on when He paid for your sins? _____________________

3. Can you ask Jesus to forgive your sins? __________________

DAY TWO -- Read Hebrews 5:13-14

When babies are little, they only drink milk to get their food. As they grow and get older,

they eat solid food too. The author compares believers to how babies grow. New

believers need milk, basic information about God and themselves. But as believers grow

in their knowledge of God and the Bible, they need to learn harder things and not only the

basics.

Circle the things below that help you grow as a believer.

playing games praying cooking reading the Bible

being taught at church watching a lot of TV trusting in God

DAY THREE -- Read Hebrews 6:10, 12

The author encouraged the people to not be sluggish in the learning, or slow, but to be

busy growing and obeying God. He tells them that God knows the good things they have

done, but that they should keep doing more and learning more.

Draw a plant growing in 3 stages: first draw it small, or as a seed. Then draw it a little

bigger, and thirdly draw it much bigger. That’s how we should be growing too.

83

DAY FOUR -- Read Hebrews 7:25-27

These verses tell us that Jesus saved us from our sins one time. And that one time will

cover every sin you do in your life. He doesn’t have to pay for any future sins again.

When Jesus died on the cross, it was for all sins. How merciful is our God! Because of

all He did for us, we should be obeying Him and living to please Him.

Unscramble the missing words and fill in the blanks below.

1. Jesus paid for all of my ______________________________ .

DAY FIVE -- Read Hebrews 10:10-11

These verses mean about the same as yesterday’s verses. They say that the Old

Testament high priests had to keep on offering sacrifices for the people’s sins. Jesus

doesn’t have to do that. God saved us and now we are in His family.

Write who gets all the credit and honor and glory for us being saved below.

WEEK 40 - HEBREWS 10:24 - 11:6

ÓDAY ONE -- Read Hebrews 10:24

We need each other to help us grow and obey God. We can encourage each other to love

others more and do good deeds more. We get stronger in our faith and knowledge of God

the more we serve Him. We serve Him by serving other people.

Check the words or phrases below that are ways to help someone love and do good

deeds.

____ say encouraging words like “good job”

____ say things like “thanks for helping”

____ complain about a job someone did

____ tell someone they did a terrible job at something

____ ask someone to join you in doing a good deed

Ó DAY TWO -- Read Hebrews 10:25

This verse tells us how important it is to meet together at church. We can encourage each

other by just being at church and Sunday School and club. God says it’s important for us

to be together at church often, so we should.

Circle the words “ENCOURAGING” or “DISCOURAGING” to each statement below.

1. If there are 15 kids in your Sunday School class, but only two show up every week,

that’s ________ .

ENCOURAGING DISCOURAGING

2. If there are 20 kids in your Day Three night club class, and 20 show up every

week, that’s _______ .

ENCOURAGING DISCOURAGING

3. If there is a flock meeting and there are 12 kids who are in the group, and 12 show

up, that’s ______ .

ENCOURAGING DISCOURAGING

ÓDAY THREE -- Read Hebrews 11:1

The author will spend all of chapter 11 talking about men and women in the Bible who

had great faith. He starts off in verse 1 with the meaning of faith. It is belief in

something you can’t see, but you know is real. We can’t see God, but we know He is

real. Write the meaning of faith in your own words below.

_______________________________________________________________

_______________________________________________________________

85

Ó DAY FOUR -- Read Hebrews 11:3-5

The author starts off telling us about Abel and Enoch. Both had faith in God and they

were rewarded for it. Abel knew to offer to God the best he had, and that pleased God.

God rewarded Enoch’s faith by taking him to heaven without dying. These men, and

others, showed their faith in God by actions.

What shows you have faith in God?

Your _______________________________________

Ó DAY FIVE -- Read Hebrews 11:6

The author says without faith you can’t please God. None of the unbelievers please God

with the things they do. People need to believe in God first. God rewards those who

have faith in Him.

Write the correct words in the blanks to finish verse 6.

WEEK 41 - HEBREWS 11:7 - 12:3

DAY ONE -- Read Hebrews 11:7-8

Noah and Abraham are other examples of great faith for us to look at. Noah showed his

faith by obeying God and building an ark, even though it had never rained on the earth

yet. He believed God when God said it would rain later. Noah had to gather all the

animals and food, and it took a long time. He didn’t know why he was doing this, but

trusted God and did what God told him to.

Abraham showed his faith in obeying God when God said start traveling and keep going

until I tell you to stop. Abraham only knew the direction to go, but didn’t know where he

was going, or how long it would take, or anything, but to go. And he did.

Draw Noah and the ark, or Noah building the ark, or Noah and the ark and some animals.

Draw Abraham traveling with some belongings to an unknown land.

DAY TWO -- Read Hebrews 11:21-23

These examples of faith had to do with not knowing what the future would be. They

didn’t know details, but obeyed God anyway. Sometimes that is hard to do. We want to

know where we’re going, why we’re going, what will happen when we get there, and so

on. But by faith, we should be able to trust God for the unknowns and obey Him.

Fill in the name that fits each blank below.

1. Who knows the past, present and future?_____________________________

2. Who is in control of everything? ___________________________________

3. Who can we trust no matter what? _________________________________

4. Who is doing this lesson and believes in God? _______________________

87

DAY THREE -- Read Hebrews 11:32-34, 37-38

Here are more faithful men and women of God that went through terrible things because

they believed in God and wouldn’t turn away from Him. Many were killed, some were

put in prison, and some suffered in other ways. What can we learn from them? Our faith

may someday cause us problems with people who don’t love God. We need to stand firm

in our faith and not turn away. God will get us through ANY situation.

1. Have you ever been teased, made fun of, laughed at, or anything else because

you were obeying what God wanted you to do and those around you didn’t?

______________________________________

2. Who can help you in those times? ___________________________________

3. Is God pleased when you obey Him? _________________________________

DAY FOUR -- Read Hebrews 12:1-2

The author encourages us to be strong in our faith. We need to say ‘no’ to sin and the

temptations to sin. Compare your life to running a race. We need to keep running in the

right direction, God’s way. Don’t give up, don’t stop running, just keep on going.

Circle the words or phrases below that help you to keep on going and run the race.

being together with believers spending a lot of time with unbelievers

watching a lot of TV laughing at believers who obey God

praying asking God to help you reading your Bible

DAY FIVE -- Read Hebrews 12:3

Sometimes it gets hard to keep on obeying and doing what’s right, when people around

you are doing wrong and sometimes getting away with it. Sometimes we want to say

“forget it, I’m done doing what’s right”. Jesus is our example to follow. He went

through very hard times here on earth as a man, and knows what it’s like for us. But He

didn’t give up, and neither should we. Keep on growing!

Circle “YES” or “NO” to the following questions.

1. Does God want you to ever stop growing and stop doing what’s right?

YES NO

2. Does God give us the strength and power to keep on growing?

YES NO

3. Did Jesus ever sin? YES NO

4. Does Jesus understand what you are going through when it’s hard to obey?

88

YES NO

WEEK 42 - HEBREWS 12:9 - 13:21

DAY ONE -- Read Hebrews 12:9-11

We all sometimes need discipline. We need it from our parents, and we need it

sometimes from God. We need training and correcting, and that’s the reason for

discipline. It helps us grow into what God wants us to be. God loves us, so He

disciplines us when we need it. Your parents love you, and discipline you for your

benefit. Learn from discipline.

Match the words on the right, to the reasons on the left.

Discipline is because they love you

God disciplines you for training and correcting

Your parents discipline you because He loves you

DAY TWO -- Read Hebrews 12:28

The author has taught us a lot so far about God’s love for believers. We need to be

thankful for who He is and all He does for us. We can show our thanks by obeying Him

and serving Him. We can serve God by serving other believers.

What should you say to God often about all He is and does for you? Write it below. Use

fancy lettering if you wish.

____________________________________________________________

DAY THREE -- Read Hebrews 13:1-2

Here are some practical ways to serve God. We should love other believers. You can

love them by making them important to you, by giving up things so someone else can

have something, by forgiving others, and more. Also, God wants us being kind to

unbelievers, too.

Write what you could do for the following people and show love to them.

Your dad: ________________________________________________

Your mom: _______________________________________________

Your sister or brother: _______________________________________

A friend: _________________________________________________

Don’t forget to do these soon!

DAY FOUR -- Read Hebrews 13:5, 9

Here are some warnings about what NOT to do. We should not love money. How do

you love money? By making it more important than God. Some people only think about

making more money, and what to buy with it, and so on and forget about God. Another

thing believers should be careful NOT to do is to not listen to false teachings about God.

The Bible is all we need to know about God and how to live life pleasing to Him.

DAY FIVE -- Read Hebrews 13:15-16, 20-21

How wonderful are these verses! God has equipped us to do every good thing in His

will. All we have to do is obey Him. He deserves our praise and thanks. Verse 20 says

He is like a Shepherd and we are His sheep.

Draw a shepherd and a sheep He is taking care of and protecting. That’s like Jesus and

WEEK 43 - JOHN 1:1 - 34

DAY ONE -- Read John 1:1-5

This book is named after the man who wrote it. He was the apostle John. Each of the

first four books of the New Testament are called a gospel. This book shows that Jesus

was God. Jesus is called the Word because He brought God’s message to us.

These verses tell us that Jesus was God and always has been, that He created everything

and that our spiritual life is from God. Jesus is compared to light. Light shows the way

to go.

Draw a line from the phrases below that tell what we read about Jesus today to His name.

He is compared to light He created everything

He is God He loves the darkness

He gives us spiritual life He ate bread

DAY TWO -- Read John 1:6-8

We read that a man was sent to be a witness for Jesus, the Light. That man was John the

Baptist. Verse 7 tells us the reason John the Baptist was a witness.

Fill in the blank below.

“...that all might __________________________________________ through him.”

DAY THREE -- Read John 1:9-12

Jesus was the light, but many didn’t know Him as God’s Son. Verse 12 tells us that for

those who did believe in Him, He gave the right to become children of God.

Unscramble the answer below.

What must we do to become children of God?

DAY FOUR -- Read John 1:19-20

The Jewish leaders wanted to know if John the Baptist was the Messiah. “Messiah”

meant “anointed One”, which in Greek is “Christ”. He said “no,” he wasn’t the Christ or

the Old Testament men they guessed Him to be. John said he was the one to prepare the

people for the Messiah.

John’s service, or ministry, wasn’t to bring himself honor. His role was to bring someone

ELSE glory. Color in who it was John glorified below.

DAY FIVE -- Read John 1:29, 33-34

John the Baptist was at the river baptizing new believers and along came Jesus. John

called Jesus “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world”. Jesus was baptized

by John and the Holy Spirit came down like a dove onto Jesus. John again said Jesus was

the Son of God.

John uses two phrases to describe Jesus. Fill in the missing words below.

1. Verse 29 - “Behold the ________________________________________ of God”

2. Verse 34 - “that this is the ______________________________________ of God”

92

WEEK 44 - JOHN 1:40 - 3:21

DAY ONE -- Read John 1:40-45, 49

DAY TWO -- Read John 2:1-2, 6-7, 11

Jesus is at a wedding with His mother (Mary) and His disciples. The good wine has run

out. Mary wants Jesus to do something to help. Jesus performs His first miracle and

turns water into wine. Verse 11 tells us that He did this miracle to show His glory and

bring joy to those around Him.

Find and circle the following words in the puzzle below.

DAY THREE -- Read John 2:13-16

The Jews would buy an animal (sheep for example) to be used as their sacrifice at the

temple. But over the years some turned it into a cheating business and that angered Jesus.

He turned over their tables and freed the animals.

Draw Jesus at the temple and the scene we read about today below.

93

DAY FOUR -- Read John 3:1-5

Nicodemus is a Pharisee, a Jewish leader, and he goes to talk to Jesus. Jesus said that

unless you are born again you can’t get to heaven. He meant a spiritual birth, not

physically being born again. We are all born spiritually dead because of sin. When we

put our faith in Jesus as our Savior, we are given a new spiritual nature and are born

again.

Circle the correct answers to each question below.

1. Because of sin we are all born spiritually ___ .

a. alive b. dead

2. To be “born again” refers to a ____ birth.

a. physical b. spiritual

3. Verse 3 says unless you are born again you won’t ___ .

a. see the kingdom of God b. have a birthday

DAY FIVE -- Read John 3:16

This is a great verse to know and memorize! It’s because of God’s love that He sent

Jesus to save us from our sins. And we find out what WE need to DO...it’s BELIEVE,

nothing else. And the reward is eternal life in heaven with God.

Fill in the missing words from this verse below.

“For ____________________________ so loved the __________________________

WEEK 45 - JOHN 4:7 - 6:13

ÒÓ DAY ONE -- Read John 4:7-10, 13-14

Jesus is at a well and meets a Samaritan woman. The Jews hated the Samaritans, so

she’s surprised Jesus talks to her. He tells her He can give her “living water” and that

whoever drinks it will never thirst again. The water Jesus talks about isn’t just plain

water, but it means the Holy Spirit. Believers have the Holy Spirit inside and can be

spiritually completely satisfied. Unbelievers don’t have the Holy Spirit and are looking

for purpose to life and aren’t satisfied here on earth.

Draw a line from the phrases that describe the living water to the words “living water”.

ÒÓ DAY TWO -- Read John 4:49-54

A royal official comes to Jesus and asks Him to heal his son who is dying. Jesus told him

to go back to his son. Jesus has healed him. The man has a choice to either believe Jesus

or not. He chooses to believe Jesus and finds his son healed when he gets home. The

official had faith in Jesus.

Use the following words to fill in the blanks below.

FAITH HEALED BELIEVE JESUS

1. The official asked _________________________ to heal his sick son.

2. Jesus performed a miracle and _____________________ the son.

3. When someone believes in Jesus, he has _____________________ in Him.

4. We can choose to ____________________________ in Jesus and show our

faith in Him too.

ÒÓ DAY THREE -- Read John 5:6-9, 18

There was a pool where people who were sick would go and hope to be healed. Jesus is

near the pool and meets a man who is lame, he can’t walk. Jesus performs a miracle and

heals the man. He told the man to get up and walk! What power! Just by Jesus’ word

the man is healed! The Pharisees (Jewish leaders) are mad that Jesus healed someone on

the Sabbath. They don’t care a man was healed, just that Jesus broke one of their rules.

Draw the scene where Jesus healed the lame man below.

95

ÒÓ DAY FOUR -- Read John 5:19-20, 23

These verses show very clearly that Jesus is God’s Son. They tell us that Jesus does what

God the Father wants Him to do. Jesus loves the Father and does His will. Verse 23 tells

us that if someone doesn’t honor the Son, Jesus, then they don’t honor God, the Father,

either.

Unscramble the words below, using the verses given.

1. Verse 19 - “...for whatever the Father does, these things the _________________

ÒÓ DAY FIVE -- Read John 6:4-13

A large crowd had gathered and Jesus was teaching them. It says 5,000 were there, but

that’s only the number of MEN. There were women and children also, so close to 10,000

people were needing lunch! Jesus performed a miracle by feeding them ALL from only

five loaves of bread and two fish that a boy has with him. And they even had twelve

baskets of left-overs! Jesus met their physical need for food, and showed His power as

God.

Answer the following questions.

1. What do you think the disciples thought as they passed out the food and had

enough to feed everyone?

WEEK 46 - JOHN 6:16 - 10:11

DAY ONE -- Read John 6:16-21

In the book of Mark we know that Jesus had gone off alone to pray and sent the disciples

to cross the Sea of Galilee in a boat. In the middle of the night a storm comes and the

disciples see Jesus walking towards them on the water! The storm stopped as soon as

Jesus got into the boat.

Circle “Yes” or “No” to each question below.

1. Does Jesus show He has power over nature? Yes No

2. Does any person have power over nature? Yes No

3. Is there anything in your life that Jesus couldn’t have

power over? Yes No

DAY TWO -- Read John 6:26-29, 35

The crowds followed Jesus. Most of them wanted another free meal like they had with

the bread and fish. Jesus knows this. He tells them they should be seeking spiritual food

instead of physical food. Spiritual food is what helps us grow as believers. In verse 35

Jesus compares Himself to bread. He gives and sustains our spiritual life.

Circle the correct answers to each question below.

1. Jesus compares Himself to

a. bread b. fish

2. Who gives and sustains our spiritual life?

a. I do b. Jesus does

3. What should people seek, spiritual food or physical food?

a. physical food b. spiritual food

DAY THREE -- Read John 7:37-39

Jesus again uses a picture of something physical to help us see what He does for us

spiritually. Remember He has used the idea that believers would never thirst again, and

He said He was the bread of life. Today we read He offers rivers of living water. These

are pictures to help us understand that Jesus gives us new spiritual life and keeps us

growing.

Draw below the two things Jesus compares Himself to, to help us understand what He

does for us spiritually. (Hint: 1 is something to eat; 1 is something to drink)

97

DAY FOUR -- Read John 8:43-45, 47

The unbelieving Jews said God was their Father, but Jesus said He can’t be because they

didn’t believe Jesus was God’s Son. If their spiritual Father wasn’t God, then it was

Satan. All people have as their master either God or Satan. Believers have God as their

master and have new spiritual life. People who don’t believe in God are still spiritually

dead because of sin and have Satan as their master.

Verse 44 describes some qualities of Satan. Check the qualities below that describe

Satan.

____ kind ____ murderer ____ thoughtful

____ loving ____ generous ____ father of lies

____ liar ____ no truth in him ____ honest

DAY FIVE -- Read John 10:7-11

Jesus compares Himself to a shepherd and believers are His sheep. A shepherd loves and

cares for his sheep. The sheep trust the shepherd to guard and protect them and to take

care of their needs.

Draw a line from the phrases that describe Jesus as our shepherd to Jesus’ name below.

He’s the door for us to be saved

He lays down His life

JESUS He hits them with a stick

He gives them life

He comes to steal and kill and destroy

He is the good shepherd

98

WEEK 47 - JOHN 10:26 - 12:25

DAY ONE -- Read John 10:26-30

Jesus said the unbelievers don’t believe that He is the Son of God because they are not

His sheep. Remember yesterday Jesus compared Himself to a good shepherd and

believers were His sheep. Today we see more of what it means to be Jesus’ sheep.

Circle the phrases below that tell us what Jesus and God are like.

Draw a box around the things that tell what His sheep are like.

He gives us eternal life He won’t take care of us

We know His voice and follow Jesus and the Father are one

We’ll be stolen away from Jesus God isn’t powerful

God is greater than all We’ll never be stolen away from

Jesus

DAY TWO -- Read John 11:1-4, 14-15

This is the beginning of a wonderful event that shows Jesus’ power. Lazarus is sick and

his sisters send a message to Jesus for Him to heal Lazarus. In verse 14 we read that

Lazarus has died, but Jesus will go to him anyway, “so that you may believe”.

Using verse 4, what good will come from Lazarus’ sickness/death? Write it below.

_________________________________________________________________

Is that the purpose for EVERYTHING that happens to us?

_________________________________________________________________

DAY THREE -- Read John 11:25-26

These verses give us great hope for the future. Jesus tells us that all people will die

physically. Believers will have spiritual life with God forever in heaven.

Unbelievers will die spiritually. What a difference!

What does a person need to do to have eternal life in heaven with God? Unscramble the

word below.

____________________________________________________

99

DAY FOUR -- Read John 11:38-44

Lazarus is dead and is in a tomb/cave with a large stone covering the opening. Jesus calls

out loudly for all who have gathered there to hear. He calls Lazarus’ name and says to

come out. And out he comes! Jesus gave him physical life again. Wow! Jesus shows us

His power over death. Again, we see clearly He is God, for no person could bring

someone who is dead back to life!

Draw the scene of Jesus calling for Lazarus, and Lazarus coming out, alive.

DAY FIVE -- Read John 12:25

These verses sound confusing, so let’s look at them slowly. If someone “loves his life”,

it means he lives to please HIMSELF. He keeps his own life and doesn’t believe in God.

That person will “lose” his life, or he’ll not have eternal life in heaven with God. On the

other hand, “he who hates his life in this world” is someone who IS a believer and lives

to please GOD. This person has given his life away to Jesus and will “keep it to life

eternal”, or will have eternal life in heaven with God. Believers should be thankful that

Jesus saved them from their sins and they look forward to heaven !

Circle the ways we show we live to please God below.

sharing your things saying words that encourage others

hitting someone saying mean words

lying forgiving others

being kind obey God’s Word

WEEK 48 - JOHN 13:5 - 14:26

DAY ONE -- Read John 13:5, 14-15

Roads back then were dusty. People wore sandals and their feet got dirty quickly. A

slave often washed the master’s feet and his guests’ feet. It was a humble thing to wash

someone else’s feet. Jesus washes the disciples’ feet and served them by doing it. Jesus

did it as an example for us to follow. We should humble ourselves and serve others. The

attitude of putting others before yourself makes serving easier. We shouldn’t think or act

like we are too important or too good to do a job.

Check the statements below that show a humble, serving attitude.

____ “Hey, get me some juice right now!” ____ “Dad, how can I help you?”

____ “I’m not picking up those toys!” ____ “Mom, I’ll help you.’

____ “You can draw on my paper” ____ “I’m not putting it away!”

DAY TWO -- Read John 13:34-35

We are to love each other like Jesus loved us. How did He love us? Did He act selfish or

mean, say hurtful things, cheat, lie or hate? No way! He died on the cross in our place

and paid the price for our sins because He loved us. We need to love others with a love

that puts others ahead of ourselves, is kind, generous, forgiving, and thoughtful.

FIRST ~ Write your name on the blank. _______________ JESUS

NEXT ~ Write which name fits the statements below. (your name or Jesus’ name)

1. ____________________ died on the cross for my sins.

2. ___________________ needs to love others as Jesus loved us.

3. ___________________ is my example to follow.

4. ___________________ can love others by putting others ahead of herself/himself.

DAY THREE -- Read John 14:1-3, 6

Jesus assures believers that we can trust in God and not be worried, or troubled about our

physical death. Jesus told the disciples that He would go and prepare a place for them

(and all believers) in heaven. Verse 3 tells us that Jesus will come again and receive us to

Himself. That’s talking about a time in the future, when Jesus will come down to the

clouds and all believers will go up to meet Him there and we’ll go to heaven with Jesus.

That’s known as the rapture. And verse 6 tells us the only way anyone can live in heaven

with Jesus. It’s by believing in Him. He is the Way and the Truth and the Life!

1. Jesus said He would go and prepare a ___________ for the disciples (and us).

2. The place we’ll go to that Jesus prepared is in __________________ .

3. Jesus is the ________ , the _________ , and the _________ .

DAY FOUR -- Read John 14:13-15

Jesus tells us that when we pray, whatever we ask for in His name, He’ll do. The

important words are IN HIS NAME. That’s another way of saying “according to His

will”. So, if what you ask for is in line with God’s will, then He’ll do it. Examples of

that are praying for your growth as a believer, praying for someone else’s spiritual

growth, praying you serve others better, and so on. It’s NOT praying “give me this toy,

or that thing”, and so on. The purpose for all things that happen to us is that God is

glorified, or honored. In our prayers, we should pray about things that will glorify God.

Find and circle the following words in the puzzle below.

DAY FIVE -- Read John 14:16-17, 26

Jesus told the disciples that He would send the Holy Spirit to be a helper, or counselor,

for believers. The Holy Spirit wouldn’t come until after Jesus ascended into heaven after

He died on the cross. The Holy Spirit will live in every believer and never leave them.

Fill in the blanks below using verse 26, which tells some of the things that the Holy Spirit

will do for us.

“He will _______________________________________________ you all things”

“and bring to your __________________________________________________

all that I said to you”

WEEK 49 - JOHN 15:1 - 18:23

DAY ONE -- Read John 15:1-2, 5, 8

Jesus describes a picture of a vine, branches, fruit and a gardener. Jesus is the vine,

believers are the branches, the fruit are good deeds believers do, and the gardener is God

the Father. Believers are to bear fruit in their lives. That means we are to show by our

actions (fruit) that we are believers in God and are obeying Him. All the good deeds, or

works, that you do will bring glory and honor to God. We prove, or show, the world we

love God and are His children by our actions or deeds. In Galatians 5, we read the fruit

of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and

self-control.

Draw a vine with branches, leaves, fruit, and roots below. Label the drawing using the

following words below.

KINDNESS LOVE YOUR NAME JESUS

DAY TWO -- Read John 15:12

Here again Jesus tells us to love others as He loved us. We need to put others’ needs

ahead of our own. We need to be willing to let others go first, let others choose first, let

others have something and be willing to go without it, and so on. To love like God,

means you sacrifice, or give up, something for someone else.

Check the things below that show sacrifice, or giving up something, for someone else.

____ You let someone else be first in line

____ You let someone else pick what to play first

____ You demand someone else play how only YOU want to

____ You let an older person sit in your chair and you sit on the floor

____ You get lemonade for someone else and then get your own

____ You take a longer turn than everyone else in a game

103

DAY THREE -- Read John 16:5-8

Jesus will soon go to the cross to pay for our sins. He tells the disciples not to be sad,

because after Jesus is gone to heaven, He’ll send the Holy Spirit. We’ve read some

verses already that told us the Holy Spirit will be a Helper, or Counselor, and will teach

and remind us of Jesus’ words. Today we read more about the Holy Spirit’s role. He

will also convict the unbelievers of their sin.

Match the phrases below to who does them.

DAY FOUR -- Read John 17:1-3

Jesus prays to God the Father and asks Him to “glorify Thy Son”. Jesus was asking God

to help Him through His sufferings, accept His sacrifice for our sins and resurrect Him.

What was the purpose of Jesus’ requests? That God the Father would be glorified, or

honored.

Circle the correct answer to each question below.

1. Who should be glorified, or honored by what we pray about?

a. me b. God

2. Jesus is an example to us to

a. pray to God for help and encouragement b. not bother praying and

just do your own thing

DAY FIVE -- Read John 18:19-23

Jesus has been taken by the Pharisees and Jewish leaders who planned to kill Jesus. They

try to find a good reason to have Him killed. We know Jesus didn’t sin, and that they

wouldn’t find a true reason to kill Him. But this all happened according to God’s plan.

Find and circle the following words in the puzzle below.

WEEK 50 - JOHN 19:1 - 21:17

DAY ONE -- Read John 19:1-2, 11

Here is the sad account of Jesus being teased and taunted by Pilate, the Roman official in

charge of the area, and the Jews. Jesus was whipped, had a crown of thorns put on His

head and was spit on. Verse 11 tells us who was REALLY in control of all that...God

was. God allows things we don’t understand. But don’t worry, He’s in control and His

plan brings Him glory.

Write why Jesus went through all that below.

_____________________________________________________________

DAY TWO -- Read John 19:16-19, 23-30

Jesus is taken with two other men and they all were hung on crosses. The guards divided

up His clothes so each could take some home, since clothes were expensive. Jesus tells

John to take in His mother and care for her. When Jesus had paid for our sins and had

been separated from the Father as we deserve to be, He said, “It is finished”, and His

physical body died. He had paid for our sin completely.

Color the words below that tells what Jesus did for us.

DAY THREE -- Read John 20:11-18

Some of the women went to Jesus’ tomb to finish preparing His body with perfumes, etc.

They found Jesus’ body gone and two angels there. Then Mary sees Jesus, but doesn’t

recognize Him at first. Jesus says her name and she realizes who He is.

Fill in the blanks below.

1. Two _______________ were in the tomb when Mary came.

2. ________________ didn’t recognize Jesus until He called her by name.

3. _________________ rose from the dead.

105

DAY FOUR -- Read John 21:3-7, 10-11

Peter is discouraged and says he’s going fishing. That didn’t mean he wanted to go catch

a few fish, but that he was going back to his JOB as fisherman, instead of being a

disciple. Jesus had been crucified and Peter was confused and discouraged. So Peter and

the disciples went out to fish. They fished all night and didn’t catch anything. They see

Jesus on the beach in the morning, and He tells them to throw their nets back in and their

nets were brimming full of fish. The disciples come to shore and have breakfast with

Jesus. Jesus showed them that with Him working in their lives, they can do great things.

Find and circle the following words in the puzzle below.

DAY FIVE -- Read John 21:15-17

Remember before Jesus went to the cross, Peter denied (said he didn’t know) Jesus.

Peter felt very bad, even though he had repented and God forgave him. Jesus knows all

that, and so asks Peter three times if Peter loves Him. All three times Peter said “yes”.

Remember the picture of Jesus as our shepherd and believer are His sheep? Jesus tells

Peter and the other disciples to tend His sheep, in other words, teach and take care of

believers.

The book of John closes with those thoughts. John has shown Jesus is indeed God.

Fill in the blanks below.

1. Peter said he loved Jesus ______________________________________ times.

2. Jesus told Peter to tend His _________________________________________ .

3. The book of John shows Jesus was ___________________________________ .

WEEK 51 -- PHILEMON 1:1 - 11

DAY ONE -- Read Philemon 1:1-3

Paul writes this letter to a man named Philemon. He was a believer who was wealthy and

owned slaves. One of them ran away and stole some money. That slave met Paul and he

became a believer. Paul writes this letter to Philemon to encourage him to treat his slave,

Onesimus, like a believer and not a runaway slave.

Should believers treat each other differently than other people in the world treat each

other? Why?

______________________________________________________________

DAY TWO -- Read Philemon 1:4-5

Paul is thankful for Philemon’s faith and love he shows others. Paul encourages

Philemon that he is doing good. We all can use encouragement.

Circle the two things Paul prayed about that he saw in Philemon’s life:

he shared he loved others he ate well he had faith in God

DAY THREE -- Read Philemon 1:7

Paul is encouraged by Philemon’s love for others. When someone else does what is

right, it’s encouraging to us. Philemon was helping those around him in their obeying

God. What a great example for us!

Circle the correct word for each question below.

1. When you get mad and yell at someone, you are being ______ to others.

ENCOURAGING DISCOURAGING

2. When you help someone, you are being ______ to others.

ENCOURAGING DISCOURAGING

3. When you lie and cheat, you are being _____ to others.

ENCOURAGING DISCOURAGING

107

DAY FOUR -- Read Philemon 1:8, 10

Paul gets to the message of his letter here. Paul wants Philemon to forgive and welcome

back Onesimus. Doing what is right isn’t always easy. Sometimes our sinful nature

wants us to do wrong, and our sinful self feels good about it. But when you do what is

right, you please God and that should help you through the times to say ‘No!’ to your

sinful desires. Good for you when you do right!!

Answer the following questions.

1. Is God pleased when you disobey and sin? ___________________________

2. Is God pleased when you obey Him and do what is right? _________________

3. Is it always easy for you to do right? ________________________________

4. Does knowing you are pleasing God by obeying Him help you to obey? _______

DAY FIVE -- Read Philemon 1:11

Paul said Onesimus would be more useful now that he was a believer. Why? Now

Onesimus could serve God and his master. Believers see things from God’s view, and all

we say and do comes from wanting to please God. Unbelievers want to please

themselves only.

Circle the words or phrases that are examples of how a believer is useful to God and can

serve others.

helping others obeying saying mean things being kind

being patient hitting showing love to others encouraging others

108

WEEK 52 - PHILEMON 1:12 - 25

DAY ONE -- Read Philemon 1:12-14

Paul had to sent Onesimus back to Philemon, because he was still Philemon’s slave and

that was where he had to be. But Paul will miss Onesimus.

Find and circle the following words in the puzzle below.

DAY TWO -- Read Philemon 1:15-16

Paul tells Philemon he’s got two things to be thankful for. One is that he is getting his

slave back, which didn’t always happen. Next, Philemon should be thankful that

Onesimus had become a believer. That was the most exciting thing!

Circle the correct answer to each question below.

1. What should be more important to us?

a. having someone become a believer

b. having someone do us a favor

2. What should we be more excited over?

a. getting a day off of school

b. having someone we know become a believer

DAY THREE -- Read Philemon 1:17-18

Paul is really determined to help Onesimus. He is offering to pay back to Philemon

anything that Onesimus took from him. Why would he go out of his way so much?

Because Paul had God’s love in his heart. God showed love for us by sending His Son,

Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. That’s love! And as believers, we are told to love

others. That will come as you grow closer to God.

Check the statements below that are examples of showing God’s love to others.

____ letting someone go first in a game ____ helping at home doing chores

____ not sharing your toys ____ letting someone else pick first

109

DAY FOUR -- Read Philemon 1:19-20

Paul tells Philemon once again, his desire for Philemon to forgive and welcome back

Onesimus. Paul’s done all he can do. Now the decision is up to Philemon. We are all

responsible for our own actions and thoughts. No one can make you do something, you

choose to. You can choose to do what is right and obey God, or you can choose to sin

and do wrong.

Circle the word “GOOD” or “BAD” in deciding if the example choice was right or wrong

for a believer.

1. Someone is saying mean things to you. You choose to walk away and ignore it.

GOOD BAD

2. Someone is going to leave out another person from the group. You choose to go

over and do something with that person being left out.

GOOD BAD

3. Someone is lying to their parents, you choose to tell the truth.

GOOD BAD

4. Someone is cheating in a game, you choose to cheat too.

GOOD BAD

DAY FIVE -- Read Philemon 1:21-25

Paul finishes his letter with words of confidence that Philemon will make a right choice.

He knew Philemon was close to God and wanted to please God. The closer we get to

God, the easier it is to say ‘no’ to sin.

Match the names to their descriptions below.
