FROM THE DIRECTOR

The Chamber of Commerce is always pleased to be associated with any effort that benefits local businesses and, at the same time, focuses on people. One initiative that does just that, builds businesses and invests in people, is something you are hearing a lot about today: education workforce development.

It is no longer enough to have local people with a good work ethic. Today, local workers must be educated and trained to meet the ever-changing

needs of the area’s employers. This is where education workforce development comes into play.

The chamber is now working to help expand public and private workforce education for our community. To this end, the chamber Board of Directors has established an Education Workforce Development Council to enhance the training of our existing and future workforce and provide a globally competitive business environment for the Chilton County area.

We are pleased to introduce this council:•Janice Hull: Chairperson of the Chamber Board•Connie Bainbridge: Manager of Community and Economic Development, Central Alabama Electric Cooperative•Kurt Wallace: State Representative, District 42•Lori Patterson: President, Chilton County Board of Education•Tommy Glasscock: Director, LeCroy Career Tech Center

Please join us in recognizing this council and the work they are doing for our community.

RealtySouth’s Big Year Th e last six months of 2012 were busy and extremely rewarding for RealtySouth in a number of ways. In July, RealtySouth was voted Birmingham’s Most Ad-mired Company in the Birmingham Business Journal’s Real Estate and Development category. Th is is a huge honor as it speaks to RealtySouth’s commitment to providing an extraordinary real estate experience – a commitment achieved by providing home buying and selling, brokerage, mortgage, title, insurance and clos-ing operations. Th e company prides itself on being a one-stop shop for real estate.

“I am proud to be associated with RealtySouth as the Broker/Manager for the Chilton Offi ce. I have won-derful agents that work very hard to do the very best job they can to service their clients and keep updated with education to make sure we are doing everything as it should be done. Within the Chilton Offi ce, we had three agents that were very high on RealtySouth’s Gold Club and Millenium Club, recognizing the top 20% of RealtySouth’s Top Producers.” Patty Bingham

Th e RealtySouth team isn’t all about real estate. Th ey fi nd ways to give back to the communities they serve, especially when it comes to children. In November, RealtySouth sponsored a Cheeriodicals Day at the Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham. Th e team assembled 100 Cheeriodicals gift boxes and then distributed them to everyone staying at the Ronald McDonald House and child undergoing treatment. Th e gift boxes are designed to bring a little joy into the lives of children undergoing treatment and their families.

Additionally, RealtySouth participates in an annual Toys for Tots drive. Every year the 21 agents in the Clanton offi ce collect toys and provide them to the local Police Department as part of Toys for Tots. In addition, RealtySouth agents give back to the commu-nity regularly as members of the Chamber of Com-merce, Kiwanis Club, and Lions Club. All agents are members of the National, Alabama and Birmingham Associations of Realtors. Many are also members of the Montgomery Association of Realtors.

“RealtySouth is a great company to work with. Th ey are committed to customer service and integrity. We are like one big family and do a lot of things to give back to the community. RealtySouth is very good about giving agents and employees recognition and awards, especially for top producers.” Patty Bingham

RealtySouth is located at 1500 7th St. North in Clan-ton. Attended offi ce hours are 8am – 5pm M-F and 9am – 1pm Saturday.

The Chamber is gearing up for a second half 2013 initiative that will promote the importance of local consumers shopping here first. Soon you will see signs, banners and stickers that will serve to encourage all of us to consider the benefits when we spend our dollars at home. This program will begin in

July/August to assist in the back-to-school period but will have its major impact in the fourth quarter when retail purchases are at their peak.

Watch for Chamber representatives who will distribute signs and banners throughout Chilton County over the next few months. This initiative will really make a difference as we seek to help local businesses grow in our community.
