1. Development

A. The peak of biogas development of new China initiated in 1958.

• Lack of scientific programming and practical

technical regulation, over 100,000 digesters

were discarded.

• Comprehensive utilization of biogas as three in

one idea “biogas, fertilizer, sanitation ” was

put forward to develop biogas technology in

rural area.

1. Development

B. From the late 1970’s to the early 1980’s, central government stressed

that “to develop biogas technology is an effective way to utilize

natural resources rationally.”

• Organized the edition of Chinese rural biogas

C. In 1983,according to “the Sixth Five-Year Plan”, rural energy

development should follow local conditions as a complement to

conventional energy practically and effectively.

D. After 2000, the Chinese government took the development of rural

biogas as the two grand objective of solving the problem of rural

energy shortage and controlling the pollution of environment, biogas

development stepped into a faster development period.
