About Chittagong: Chittagong is the second largest city in Bangladesh. It is the Commercial Capital City of Bangladesh. The surrounding mountains and rivers make the city attractive. Karnaphuli River falls in Chittagong. The largest land port of the country, "Chittagong Port", situated in Chittagong. That's why Chittagong is the city for export and import. Most of the large industries of Bangladesh are situated in Chittagong. Chittagong is the chief port of Bangladesh and has extensively developed port facilities for ocean steamers. Bangladesh has a four divisions,Chittagong Division one of them.

Chittagong Division: Chittagongh Division is full of Natural beauty. It has played an apex role in the countrieswar of liberation. The division has also been playing a great part in the country's art & culture. The first arm rebellion for the great liberation war started in Chittagong. Boundary: the Indian State of Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura in theNorth, The Bay of Bangle encircle it in the south, Indian States of Mizoram, and Myanmar (Burma) in the east, and Meghna River, Dhaka and Barisal Division of its west. Area: The area of chattigong Division is 32,675 square Kilometers. Population: It has a Population of nearly 2,1637,845 Districts: Chittagong division has 11 districts. These are Chittagong, Chittagong Hill Tracts (Rangamati), Coxs Bazar, Bandarban, Khagrachari, Feni, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Comilla, Chandpur and Brahmanbaria.

Places of Interest and Historical Places of Chittagong

Zia Museum (formerly Circuit House) On the 30th may, 1981 the president of Bangladesh General Ziaur Rahman was killed in the room on 4 of Chittagong Circuit House was built by the British ruler in India in residential building of Govt. high officials. Most of Zia's activities including his household goods are preserved in this museum. This house was also used by Pakistani army as a torturing center during the liberation war of Bangladesh. Pak army killed thousands of Banglees here through brutal torture, slaughter and shooting. This museum is situated near Chittagong Stadium at Kazir Dewri.

Patenga Sea beach : It is a natural beauty spot. Here is the confluence of the river Karnaphuli and the Bay of Bengal. The beach has been protected from erosion by the bay with help of boulders. There is the sandy beach from which one can find the waters of the bay. Court Building: Situated on the Fairy Hill, this building commands a magnificent bird's eye view of Chittagong city, particularly at night. This gigantic Judge Court building was built immediately after the East India Company conquered and declared Chittagong as a separate administrative area in 1773. The building is huge, over 250 thousand square feet and has hundreds of rooms.

Chittagong Batali Hill The Batali Hill is the highest hill within the Chittagong Metropolitan area. It is situated in the Tiger Pass area of the city. Chandanpura Mosque: Situated in the old city, the multi domed mosque is an architectural sight to behold.

Tomb of Sutan Bayazid Bostami:

Situated on a hillock at Nasirabad, about 6 km. to the north-west of Chittagong town, this shrine attracts a large number of visitors and pilgrims. At its base is a large tank with several hundred tortoises. Tradition has it that these animals are the descendants of the evil spirits (genii) who were cast into this shape because they incurred the wrath of the great saint who visited the place about 1100 years age.

Foy's Lake This beautiful lake surrounded with lovely hills is situated just east of the Pahartali Railway Station and West of the Khulshi residential area. This beautiful artificial lake was created in 1942 by the Bengal Railways Engineer Mr. Foy for providing drinking water. So it was named after him.
