RATIONALE

High cholesterol shows no symptoms but its effects can be deadly leading to heart disease, stroke, hypertension, and more.

According to the CDC, Control Disease Center• On average, 98.9 million Americans aged 20 years and older have a total blood

cholesterol level higher than the indicated healthy standard• Only 1 out of every 3 adults with high cholesterol have their condition controlled

NEEDS ASSESSMENT

I decided to conduct a local survey which tested the knowledge of a small population in my surrounding area

My survey was given to people who were at least 20 years of ageThis survey asked general questions about • LDL’s• HDL’s • Cholesterol testing• Factors that influence cholesterol and• Other related topics.

I asked these types of questions to get a better understanding of the level of information known about cholesterol.

NEEDS ASSESSMENT

Out of 10 participants • 40% correctly described cholesterol • 0% of participants answered all questions correctly

Although this population was small the results I obtained from the first survey showed the population could benefit from a cholesterol information session
