• First held in 2006
• The Small Business Festival Victoria provides ideas and information to people who
are starting or growing a business.
• The Festival takes place annually during the month of August and comprises over
400 events, workshops and seminars across metropolitan and regional Victoria.
• The festival supports the state’s 540,000 small businesses that generate more than
30% of Victoria’s sales and output and employs 47% of the State’s workforce.

Small Business Mentoring Services
• About 120 Mentors, who have the skill and experience to help small businesses.
• All are business people. Most are retired and want to help small businesses prosper. All mentors work on a voluntary basis.
• Mentoring is a process that requires the Mentor and the business owner to delve into the core of the business and to work together to develop a Plan of Action. Each session runs for 90 minutes to an hour.

Grow Your Business (GYB) Group Program
• Group Programs encourage smaller businesses to develop management skills and competencies that support long term growth. Participation in Group Programs enables businesses to develop better business practices and processes, and to share challenges, experiences and insights.
• Eligibility: To be considered for funding, participating businesses must be Victoria-based businesses, with at least 12 months of trading history, be financially viable (sales > $250,000 per annum) and be a tradeable service (manufacturers or service firms)
• Cost: $2,000 + GST. Funding = 75% of the cost up to $1,500 +GST pp.

Grow Your Business (GYB) one-on-one

Level Crossing Removals
$2.4B to remove 20 level crossings by 2018, and the full 50 by 2023.
Melbourne Metro Rail Project
$10.9B to build a new dedicated underground rail path running beneath the central business district (CBD) to free up the congested City Loop, allowing more trains to run more regularly across the whole network. To be completed by 2026.
Western Distributor
The $5.5B project will widen the West Gate Freeway from eight to twelve lanes, and add a tunnel and elevated motorway to connect the West Gate Freeway with the Port of Melbourne, CityLink and the central business district (CBD), providing an alternate river crossing to the West Gate Bridge.
Tullamarine City Link Widening
The $1.3B project will upgrade 24 kilometres of freeway, from Melbourne Airport to Southbank. To be completed by 2018.
