Third Sunday of Easter April 15, 2018
Thus it is written
that the
Christ
would suffer
and
rise from
the dead
on the
third day
and that
repentance, for
the forgiveness
of sins,
would be
preached in
his name
to all
the nations
From Father Phil
My Dear Parishioners,
Thank you so much for making
the Sacred Triduum so beautifully prayerful.
Many people made the whole three days including Easter Sunday special.
Thanks go to David our director of music and his choir for their uplifting sing-ing. Deacons Larry, Bill and Dwight participated and made their own special mark felt.
To those who transformed the gym into a worthy sacred space, our mainte-nance staff, Pinky our floral designer and her helpers, along with Margaret Tusa who repaired the rediscovered vestments and altar frontal dating as far back as Father Diefenbach, our thanks. We are grateful to our sacristans, under the guidance of Pat Lero, along with the faithful who prepare for every mass each Sunday, week in and week out, who make ready the vessels and books essential to every mass throughout the year. The lectors and Eucharistic ministers remind me personally of how to-gether we are a royal priesthood.
Many others quietly assist in ways of welcoming, distributing worship aids and bulletins, along with the money collectors. They enable us to feel wel-come and give us the opportunity to contribute. A special thank you to every-one who helped and contributed to the production of our Easter and weekly bulletins so beautifully. There are others who add their own touches to our gatherings and do so quietly and sometimes without even being known by me, thank you.
May we too recognize Jesus in the many manifestations that come our way, especially those in search of welcome and healing. Welcome and mercy are like twins. As a parish, we continue to build for the future with a remolded church and new school wing, I trust that together, we will become more and more, under the grace and mercy of God, like the Forgiving Victim, Jesus. James Allison describes this Jesus as one who is: "Rambunctiously alive, the one that I have described as "the Other other", effervescent beyond words - comes rushing toward us, taking us by surprise, undoing us from the bonds we scarcely knew were there, and bringing us to live." Jesus the Forgiving Victim. With Easter joy I will See you next week , Fr. Phil Thank
You!
