Christ Cathedral Parish is part of the Diocese of Orange under the leadership of
Bishop Kevin Vann. Every year we have an opportuni ty to support the overal l work
of the Diocese of Orange through the Pastoral Services Appeal (PSA). The
administrat ive and pastoral offices of the Diocese of Orange provide the
infrastructure, support and training that are the foundations for our local parish
ministries. I am once again invi t ing you to support this work of the diocese through
your part icipation in the 2019 PSA. The theme, ?We Are One?, reminds us that as a
parish and as the Church, we are one in fai th, one in love, and one in service as the Body of Christ.
Our 2019 diocesan goal is $172,000.00. A wonderful feature of the PSA is that al l monies col lected over our
diocesan goal are returned to the parish 100%. With this in mind, i t gives me great joy to announce plans to
create a fi rst ever ?Youth Center? in the Christ Cathedral Academy bui lding. A special area is being designed for
youth to gather on the second floor of the academy. There wi l l be a youth office and addi t ional space for youth
activi t ies. Developing these areas is being done in conjunction wi th the hi ring of our new Director of Youth
Ministry, Mr. Cole Hauso. To help fund this project, a parish goal of $53,000 above the diocesan goal is being
set. This brings the total goal for the 2019 PSA to $225,000, which includes the diocesan goal of $172,000 and
the parish goal of $53,000 for the youth project.
Our PSA Pledge Weekend is February 9-10, when you wi l l have an opportuni ty to make a pledge to be paid over
the next 10 months. Please consider what port ion of your financial resources you wi l l share to support the
diocese and our youth project. A proport ionate gi ft may mean $1,000 for some, $500 for others, $300 for others
or any other amount. Though we each have di fferent financial resources, we al l have something. Whatever you
can share is greatly appreciated.
This year?s PSA gives us a wonderful opportuni ty to expand our ministry to the youth of
Christ Cathedral. Thank you so much for your continued generosi ty in support ing our
efforts to bring the Lord?s l i fe and love to them and to our world.

UNITY RESTAURANT OPENS ONCE AGAIN! Christ Cathedral?s Uni ty Restaurant wi l l open for a one-day event on Sunday, February 17 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. hosted by our Hispanic Communi ty. Breakfast wi l l be served from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. We wi l l be serving your choice of tamales wi th a hot beverage (champurrado) or pozole wi th a drink. Lunch/dinner wi l l be from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Menu choices include taqui tos (4) or tacos (3) of carne asada, al pastor or chicken. The plate comes wi th taqui tos or tacos wi th a drink. The concert wi l l feature performances by Dr. John A. Romeri , Dr. Ricardo Soto, and the Organ Scholars of Christ Cathedral. As a grand finale, three more keyboard instruments wi l l take the stage wi th the Arboretum's pipe organ for a spectacular performance of Bach's rarely-performed Concerto for Four Unaccompanied Keyboard Instruments. MICHELANGELO'S SISTINE CHAPEL - THE EXHIBITIONSistine Chapel: The Exhibi t ion is coming to the Cathedral Cultural Center on the Christ Cathedral campus! The exhibi t focuses on Michelangelo's contributions to the Sist ine Chapel namely the artwork from the cei l ing and the Last Judgment. By bringing the artwork closer, visi tors wi l l be able to appreciate these famous masterpieces from a new perspective. The exhibi t wi l l open on Apri l 13. La Parroquia de la Catedral de Cristo es parte de la Diócesis de Orange bajo el
l iderazgo del Obispo Kevin Vann. Cada año tenemos la oportunidad de apoyar el
trabajo general de la Diócesis de Orange a través de la Apelación de los Servicios
Pastorales (PSA). Las oficinas administrat ivas y pastorales de la diócesis nos dan
la infraestructura, apoyo y formación que son las bases para nuestros ministerios
de la parroquia local. Una descripción de estos se describe en el fol leto incluido.
Una vez más los invi to a apoyar el trabajo de la diócesis a través de su
part icipación en el PSA 2019. El tema, ?Somos Uno?, nos recuerda que como parroquia y como Iglesia, somos
uno en fe, uno en amor, y uno en el servicio del Cuerpo de Cristo.
Nuestro objetivo diocesano para 2019 es de $172,000.00. Una característ ica maravi l losa del PSA es que todo
el dinero recaudado sobre nuestro objetivo diocesano es devuelto a la parroquia al 100%. Con esto en mente,
me da gran alegría anunciar planes para crear el primer "Centro para la Juventud" en el edi ficio de la
Academia de la Catedral de Cristo. Un área especial está siendo diseñada para que los jóvenes se reúnan en
el segundo piso de la academia. Habrá una oficina para los jóvenes y espacio adicional para las actividades
de los jóvenes. El desarrol lo de estas áreas se está haciendo juntamente con la contratación de nuestro nuevo
Director del Ministerio de Jóvenes, el Sr. Cole Hauso. Para ayudar a financiar este proyecto, se ha establecido
un objetivo parroquial de $53,000 encima del objetivo diocesano. Esto trae la meta total para el PSA 2019 a
$225,000, que incluye la meta diocesana de $172,000 y el objetivo de la parroquia de $53,000 para el proyecto
de los jóvenes.
Nuestro fin de semana de Compromiso del PSA será el, 9-10 de febrero cuando usted tendrá la oportunidad de
hacer su compromiso a pagar durante los próximos 10 meses. Por favor, considere qué parte de sus recursos
