There are people who bel ieve in Jesus and people who do not. Among those who do

not bel ieve in Jesus, there are a lot of good people who do many good things. What

is the di fference between a person who does not bel ieve in Jesus and does good

things and a person who bel ieves and does good things?

The answer l ies in the Gospel which reminds us that bel ievers in Jesus are never

finished loving (Luke 6:27-38). For us, there are to be no l imi ts to our loving. Jesus

affi rms how we are already loving and then says to love more. Some samples. It is

great that you love those who love you, now love your enemies. If you are slapped on one cheek, turn and offer

the other. If somebody takes your coat, give that person your shi r t as wel l . If you lend somebody some money,

do not expect to be repaid. In other words, i f you think you have loved enough, take another look because there

is always an opportuni ty to love more.

Over the years I have heard people who have been active in the Church say, ?Well , I?ve put in my service, now

i t?s t ime for somebody else to do the work.? Membership in the Church is not l ike being a member of a

company or a club. We reti re from companies. In clubs, the work is eventual ly handed on to others. For a

disciple of Jesus, there is no reti rement. Even though i t may seem total ly unreasonable, the chal lenge of loving

wi thout l imi ts remains the same for our whole l ives.

What effort to reach out to someone has stopped because we think we have done enough? Who is the enemy

that needs to be loved, whether i t be an individual or a country? Who gets our coat AND our shi r t, and we never

thought we could part wi th ei ther one? Who do we have trouble loving that could be given l i fe by new efforts to

connect wi th them?

What is the di fference between a good person who does not bel ieve in God and somebody

who does? The di fference is not love. The di fference is love that does not draw l ines,

which tries to overcome obstacles and is always look ing for ways to get bigger. The

di fference is bel ieving in the One who loves us wi thout l imi ts.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMChrist Cathedral Communi ty Outreach, in conjunction wi th Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, is having a food distribution service on the fi rst Saturday of every month. The next Saturday distribution wi l l be on March 2 at the Helping House from 10 am to 12 noon. Show up, sign in, and take your groceries home. Hay personas que creen en Jesús y oras que no creen. Entre los que no creen en

Jesús, hay mucha gente buena que hace muchas cosas buenas. ¿Cuál es la

di ferencia entre una persona que no cree en Jesús y hace cosas buenas y una

persona que cree y haga cosas buenas?

La respuesta está en el Evangel io que nos recuerda que los creyentes en Jesús

nunca han terminado de amar (Lucas 6:27-38). Para nosotros, no hay l ími tes para

nuestro amor. Jesús afi rma que ya estamos amando y luego dice amar más.

Algunas muestras. Es genial que amas a los que te aman, ahora ama a tus enemigos. Si te bofetean en una

meji l la, da la vuelta y ofrece la otra. Si alguien toma tu abrigo, Dale a esa persona también tu camisa. Si le

prestas dinero a alguien, no esperes que lo regresen. En otras palabras, si piensas que has amado lo

suficiente, mira otra vez porque siempre hay una oportunidad de amar más.

A lo largo de los años he escuchado a personas que han estado activas en la iglesia deci r, "Bueno, yo ya hice

mi servicio, ahora le toca a alguien más." Ser miembro de la iglesia no es como ser miembro de una empresa

o un club. Nos reti ramos de las empresas y de los clubs, el trabajo se entrega eventualmente a otros. Para un

discípulo de Jesús, no hay jubi lación. A pesar de que puede parecer totalmente i rracional, el desafío de amar

sin l ími tes sigue siendo el mismo para toda nuestra vida.

¿Qué esfuerzo para l legar a alguien ha parado porque pensamos que hemos hecho lo suficiente? ¿Quién es el

enemigo que necesi ta ser amado, ya sea un individuo o un país? ¿Quién t iene nuestro abrigo y nuestra

camisa, Y nunca pensamos que podríamos ser cualquiera de el los? ¿Con quién tenemos problemas en amar

que podríamos darle vida con nuevos esfuerzos para conectar con el los?

¿Cuál es la di ferencia entre una buena persona que no cree en Dios y alguien que lo hace? La di ferencia no es

el amor. La di ferencia es el amor que no t iene l íneas, que trata de superar los

obstáculos y siempre está buscando maneras de ser más grande. La di ferencia es creer

en aquel que nos ama sin l ími tes.
