PASTOR JOHNDear Friends,

In Paul’s second letter to his young protege’ Timothy we read Paul’s charge to Timothy: “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”

In light of the Supreme Court’s recent decision on gay marriage, and in

regards to the positive response to this decision on the part of many indi-vidual Christians, pastors, and churches, it appears as if that time of which Paul spoke is now.

Paul would go on to say to Timothy: “But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of

your ministry.”

And so too these words apply to us. We as a church need to “keep our head” and to continue on our mission of loving and serving all people, and of making disciples of all people by baptizing them and teaching them God’s word. We need to “endure hardship” with faith, hope, and great patience, rec-ognizing that our Savior Jesus has already overcome the world and that he has gone into heaven to prepare a place for us. We need to “do the work of an evangelist,” which means that we are to share the good news of Jesus with a lost and hurting world. And finally we need to “discharge all the duties of our ministry,” which means that we are to both

love and rebuke - to teach, to encourage, to forgive, to correct, to admonish, to serve, to edify, to disciple - the people whom God has entrusted to our care.

I pray that I as a pastor and that we as a congrega-tion may remain faithful to God and His word as we reach out to save and serve the lost and as we seek to disciple the saved.

God Bless,Pastor John VOTER’S MEETING

Youth Room & Nursery

The next phase of repainting of the Youth Room at Christ will be a wall that reflects our Church’s Lutheran iden-tity and the Catechism, namely Luther’s Rose, the Apostles’ Creed, and the Word and Sacrament. The Nursery is also being repainted, starting with a mural that tells the story of the days of Creation us-ing numbers, and followed by another about Noah’s Ark using the letters of the alphabet.

Caring FellowshipWe are producing our

fourth and final Mission Statement for Worship and the Web. It will feature the Caring Fel-lowship

at Christ that happens around services, studies on Sundays, weekday studies, servant, & social activities throughout the week. If you have something you’d like to share about how being a part of our family at Christ has helped foster and grow Christian faith and friendships in your life, please speak with Jordan.

Men’s Bible StudyOur Men’s Bible Study

at Christ will tentatively begin again for the fall and spring on Tuesday, September 8th at 7:30 pm. The Men of Christ meet monthly on the first Tuesday at the Christ’s Workshop from Septem-ber - May for discussion and discipleship. Stay tuned for more informa-tion from Tim Ristow regarding topic and outline

for the 2015-2016 Men’s Bible Study.

MediaJust a reminder that we

often take photos, and at times, video, of ministry events to put up around Church on the screen on Sundays and to post to the web that publicizes the worship, service, fellow-ship, and education life of Christ Lutheran.

GeneralPlease contact Jordan

with questions about any of these announcements. Be sure to check out the Sunday Mornings Chris-tian Education as well as Community Connections bulletin boards for more information on what’s happening in these min-istries.
