Call to Worship MICAH 6:8

He has shown thee, O man,

What is good and what the Lord requires of thee;

He has shown thee, O man,

What is good and what the Lord requires of thee;

And to walk humbly with thy God. “Micah 6:8” Bob Sklar © 1978, 1980 CCCM Music, Universal Music - Brentwood Benson Publishing Used by permission. CCLI #11030776

The Summary of the Law

Jesus said: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.

The Gloria in Excelsis (Tune: Scottish Gloria)

Glory be to God on High And on earth peace – good will towards men. We praise thee, we bless thee, we worship thee. We glorify thee, we give thanks to thee For thy great glory. O Lord God, heavenly king, God the father almighty: O Lord, the only begotten son, Jesus Christ, O Lord God, lamb of God, son of the father: That takest away the sins of the world, Have mercy upon us. Thou that takest away the sins of the world, Receive our prayer. Thou that sittest at the right hand of God the Father Have mercy upon us. For thou, only, art holy. Thou, only, art the Lord. Thou only, O Christ, with the Holy Ghost, Art most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Celebrant. Let us pray.

The Collect for the Persecuted Church

Praying together

O LORD God, whose Son Jesus Christ suffered and died for us and

in His resurrection restores life and peace to all creation; O Lord

God, our Redeemer, Defender, Protector, and Avenger, we pray for

Your people who are victims of violence and hatred and are op-

pressed and injured by their fellow humans. Give strength and en-

couragement to them by Your Holy Spirit. Look upon them and help

us to honor those who are suffering or have died in Your ser-

THE PSALM PSALM 1

1Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the LORD,

and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; 6 for the LORD knows the way of the righteous,

but the way of the wicked will perish. (ESV) Glory to the Father, and to the Son, And to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,

World without end. Amen.

The Nicene Creed

Let us confess our faith in the words of the Nicene Creed:

CELEBRANT AND PEOPLE

WE believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of

heaven and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible.

WE believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eter-

nally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true

God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the

Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our sal-

vation, he came down from heaven and was incarnate from the

Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our

sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and

was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance

with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at

the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge

the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

WE believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who pro-

ceeds from the Father [and the Son], who with the Father and the

Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the

prophets.

WE believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We ac-

knowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for

the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

The filioque [and the Son] is not in the original Greek text. Nevertheless, in the

Western Church the filioque [and the Son] is customary at worship and is used

for the explication of doctrine [39 Articles of Religion]. The operative resolution

of the College of Bishops concerning use of the filioque is printed with the Gen-

eral Instructions at the end of the Holy Communion, Long Form.

Jot that Thought

MOST merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in

thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we

have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we

have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and

we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have

mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and

walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

The Bishop or Priest stands and says

ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who in his great mercy has

promised forgiveness of sins to all those who sincerely repent and

with true faith turn to him, have mercy upon you, pardon and de-

liver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all good-

ness, and bring you to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our

Lord. Amen.

The Peace

Celebrant. The Peace of the Lord be always with you.

People. And with your spirit.

Then the Ministers and People may greet one another in the name

of the Lord.

Celebrant. Let us remember the words of our Lord Jesus Christ

and how he said, it is more blessed to give than to receive.

The Post Communion Prayer

Let us pray.

Celebrant and People praying together

HEAVENLY Father, we thank you for feeding us with the spiritual

food of the most precious Body and Blood of your Son our Savior

Jesus Christ; and for assuring us in these holy mysteries that we

are living members of the Body of your Son, and heirs of your eter-

nal kingdom. And now, Father, send us out into the world to do the

work you have given us to do, to love and serve you as faithful wit-

nesses of Christ our Lord. To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be

honor and glory, now and forever. Amen.

Prayer for Those in Need of Healing

The Blessing (Please stand)

The peace of God which passes all understanding keep your

hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son

Jesus Christ our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Fa-

ther, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you, and remain with

you always. Amen.

The Recessional A MIGHTY FORTRESS IS OUR GOD

A mighty fortress is our God A bulwark never failing Our helper He amid the flood Of mortal ills prevailing For still our ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe His craft and pow'r are great And armed with cruel hate On earth is not his equal Did we in our own strength confide Our striving would be losing Were not the right Man on our side The Man of God's own choosing Dost ask who that may be Christ Jesus it is He Lord Sabaoth His name

Chorus:

So I pause at Your gates once more

As my heart and my spirit soar

And I wish I could love You more

My God and my King

Is there tribute that I could bring

Was there ever a song to sing

That could ever express, my King

The work that You've done

Could I ever conceive of this

All the depths and the heights and breadth

Of the riches I now possess

Because of Your love? “In the Beauty of Holiness”;Words and Music by Robin Mark

WONDERFUL, MERCIFUL SAVIOR

Wonderful, merciful Savior,

Precious Redeemer and Friend,

Who would have thought that a Lamb

Could rescue the souls of men?

Oh, You rescue the souls of men.

You are the One that we praise;

You are the One we adore.

You give the healing and grace

Our hearts always hunger for;

Oh, our hearts always hunger for.

Counselor, Comforter, Keeper,

Spirit we long to embrace,

You offer hope when our hearts

Have hopelessly lost the way;

Oh, we hopelessly lost the way.

Almighty, infinite Father,

Faithfully loving Your own,

Here in our weakness You find us

Falling before Your throne;

Oh, we're falling before Your throne.

Celebrant. Let us pray

Prayer of Consecration

ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, in your tender mercy, you

gave your only Son Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the cross for

our redemption. He offered himself and made, once for all time, a

perfect and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. He

instituted this remembrance of his passion and death, which he

commanded us to continue until he comes again. So now, Father,

we ask you to bless and sanctify, with your Word and Holy

Spirit, these gifts of bread and wine that we may partake of his

most blessed Body and Blood.

ON the night that he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus Christ took

bread; and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave it to

his disciples, saying, “Take, eat; this is my Body which is given for

you: Do this in remembrance of me.”

AFTER supper, Jesus took the cup, and when he had given thanks,

he gave it to them, saying, “Drink this, all of you; for this is my

Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you, and for many,

for the forgiveness of sins: Whenever you drink it, do this in re-

membrance of me.”

THEREFORE we proclaim the mystery of faith:

Celebrant and People praying together

Christ has died.

Christ is risen.

Christ will come again.

The Celebrant continues

LORD and heavenly Father, with these holy gifts we celebrate the

memorial instituted by your beloved Son, remembering his pas-

sion and death, his resurrection and ascension, and his promise to

come again. Grant that by his merits and death, and through faith

in his Blood, we and your whole Church may receive forgiveness

of our sins and all other benefits of his passion, making us one body

with him that he may dwell in us, and we in him. And here we offer to

you, O Lord, our selves, our souls and bodies, to be a living sacrifice,

through Jesus Christ our Lord. BY him and with him and in him, in the

unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father,

now and forever. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer The Celebrant then says

AND now as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to pray

The Fraction (Breaking of the Bread)

Celebrant. Alleluia! Christ our Passover has

been sacrificed once for all upon the

cross.

People. Therefore let us keep the feast. Alleluia.

The Prayer of Humble Access

WE do not presume to come to this your table, merciful Lord, trust-

ing in our own righteousness, but in your abundant and great mer-

cies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under

your table. But you are the same Lord, who always delights in

showing mercy. Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the

flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ and to drink his blood, that our

sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls

washed through his most precious blood, and that we may ever-

more dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.
