Analysisn Research has shown that growth in
Adventist churches comes from:n Community involvementn Rich spiritualityn Intentionality (goals, planning)n A positive atmosphere in congregationn Activities for the unchurched on
Sabbath
An Adventist Missional Paradigm
“Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Savior mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, ‘Follow Me.’”
• The Ministry of Healing, page 143
39
Recommendationsn Conduct a Vision for Mission
workshop with a representative group of church members to revitalize the mission of the Norwalk Church.
n Start a Connections Ministry using the Connections curriculum on spiritual gifts and ministry, including a Ministry Development Committee.
More Recommendationsn Present a series of sermons on the
ministry of the laity and conclude with a “ministry fair” at which members have opportunity to get involved in a new menu of ministries.
n Appoint a task force to study the structure and organizational procedures of the Norwalk Church; Are they still appropriate to a church of this size?
40
More Recommendationsn Appoint an appropriate group to study the
feasibility of presenting community programs at the Deli, a kind of “café church” in the evenings.
n Have an appropriate professional do a program evaluation of the City Mission Center and its programs, including interviews with a number of key civic leaders.
