Columbus serve women who are facing an unexpected or difficult pregnancy. Many of these women are unsure and scared when they first come to the center. The centers provide encouragement, counseling, ultrasounds, parenting education, and so much more. (This event is bilingual.) From the Pastor’s Desk
As I write these words, Pope Francis is preparing to celebrate the canonization Mass for St. Junipero Serra at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. As you read this bulletin, several of our parishioners will be in Philadelphia with Pope Francis at the concluding Mass for the World Meeting of Families. The impact of Pope Francis’ visit to the United States will surely be felt for months. I hope that our country will continue to be open to the Holy Father’s wisdom and follow his example of holiness, simplicity, and concern for the poor. Please pray for Ruth Beckman, a long-time parishioner of Christ the King Church. Ruth retires next month after many years of service in the Diocese of Columbus as the director of the Joint Office for Inner-City Needs (J.O.I.N.). The aid she has provided to the most vulnerable citizens of our city is worthy of praise. Bishop Campbell will celebrate a special Mass in honor of Ruth’s dedicated service at St. Joseph Cathedral on Thursday, October 1, at 6:00 p.m. Feel free to attend. If you plan on staying for the reception afterward, please RSVP to the Office for Social Concerns at 614-241-2540. Next weekend is the first weekend of October, which is Respect Life Month. We will once again have a Baby Bottle Campaign with a goal of raising funds for a Pro-Life organization in Central Ohio. This year, all of the coins, cash, and checks collected in the baby bottles will benefit Women’s Care Center. This organization provides free ultrasounds, counseling, education, and support to women and men facing a difficult or unplanned pregnancy. The closest Women’s Care Center is strategically located on East Main Street, right next to Planned Parenthood. We continue to pray that, with our help and love, families will welcome their children into the world. Your participation in the Baby Bottle Campaign works toward that end. The Catholic Men’s Luncheon Club continues its fall series with “A Solution to the Crisis in the Family: Lessons from the World Meeting of Families” by Mr. Dan Thimons. The talk will
