From the Pastor’s Desk
Today is the Feast of All Souls, a day in which we remember thesouls in purgatory who depend on our prayers. Without a doubt,we are still connected with our friends and family members whohave passed away, and our exchange of love continues evenafter death. May our prayers for our beloved dead be sincereand plentiful throughout the month of November. And may thefollowing generations pray for us when we pass from this life tothe next.
Let me draw your attention to some of the activities that aretaking place at Christ the King during this busy month ofNovember. Next Sunday, November 9, is Aunt Hattie’sLuncheon. Please plan on attending. If you are not able toattend, please support the Women’s Club by purchasing a raffleticket or two.
Also taking place next Sunday is an event sponsored by theBREAD organization for our Spanish-speaking community. Thiswill be a “Know Your Rights” presentation that will take place inthe basement after the 12:30 p.m. Mass. The purpose of thisevent is to help parishioners understand what it means tointeract with local law enforcement. We want everyone in ourcommunity to feel and to be safe.
On Friday of the following weekend, November 14, there will bean exciting fundraiser for Christ the King that will take place atSt. Joan of Arc Church in Powell, Ohio. The name of the eventis “Salsa Fiesta,” and it will feature a Salsa Competition (food,not dance). The Catholic community in Powell has an interest insupporting the mission of Christ the King and wants tocollaborate in building up the Kingdom of God on the east sideof Columbus. “Salsa Fiesta” is hopefully the first of many jointventures between our parish and theirs. Feel free to join us inPowell for an enjoyable evening.
Lastly, Sunday, November 23, is the Feast of Christ the King.We will have our annual parish celebration after the Masses thatday. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will follow the 12:30p.m. Mass, and we will conclude our prayers with a bilingualrosary at 3:00 p.m. A light reception in the basement will beginat 3:30 p.m., at which time the recipients of this year’s “Servantof Christ the King Awards” will be presented. Please save thedate for this important event in the life of our parish.

This luncheon is a longstanding parishevent which builds parish spirit and benefits parish charities,including the Family Life Christmas Giving Tree. The BishopGriffin Center also benefits.
