From the Pastor’s Desk

I hope you have noticed the recent inserts in the bulletins. These reflections on “The Family Fully Alive” are meant to help prepare us for the World Meeting of Families which will take place next month in Philadelphia. This international Catholic meeting will bring together thousands of families for prayer and reflection on the Church’s teachings on the family. The overarching theme of the event is “The Family Fully Alive,” but there are ten topics under that heading: Created for Joy; The Mission of Love; The Meaning of Human Sexuality; Two Become One; Creating the Future; All Love Bears Fruit; Light in a Dark World; A Home for the Wounded Heart; Mother, Teacher, Family: The Role of the Church; Choosing Life. The bulletin inserts are meant to touch upon these ten topics and give us a taste of what the World Meeting of Families will be about. Pope Francis and other Church leaders think it worthwhile to reflect upon the meaning and purpose of the family. For example, what is the function of the family in the life of a child or in the larger context of society? What is God’s plan for family life and how does a family achieve its ultimate goal? These questions are worth our pondering. May the Lord bless you throughout this week. The Sisters’ Corner The sisters will begin a new series of bible studies. This

introductory course will meet every Monday and Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., beginning this Monday, August 24. The same course will also be offered on Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m., beginning this Wednesday, August 26. If you have not had a bible study with the sisters, now is the time to learn more about your Catholic faith! If you have questions or would like to sign up, contact the convent at 614-884-0637. The Divine Mercy Prayer Group is hosting a retreat for healing and spiritual growth next weekend, August 29-30. The primary

theme is “Go into the Whole World and Proclaim the Gospel to Every Creature.” Father Antonio Mendez from the Dominican Republic will be directing the retreat and praying with us that weekend. Everyone is invited to attend. (This event is in Spanish.)

Please note that there will be no confessions at 7:30 p.m. next Saturday, August 29. This is due to other activities in the parish

Estas reflexiones sobre “La Familia Plenamente Viva” son para ayudarnos a prepararnos para el Encuentro Mundial de las Familias que se llevará a cabo el próximo mes en Philadelphia. Este encuentro Católico internacional reunirá a miles de familias para orar y reflexionar sobre las enseñanzas de la Iglesia acerca de la familia. All Saints Academy Catholic School

Pregnancy Decision Health Center (PDHC) is looking for a few guardian angels! The Guardian Angel Program, or gaP, is a

support program that connects single pregnant women with loving mentors. These mentors fill in the gap of a young mother’s life. They provide emotional support, spiritual guidance, and positive role modeling for young mothers as they transition into motherhood.
