Dear Friend in Christ, Amid the sadness, anger and disbelief about the terrible scandals that have taken place in the Church, especially by men who are supposed to be our shepherds, it is perhaps most important to remember that the greatest tool of the evil one is discouragement. Those of you who work in parishes, religious and lay alike, can choose to slouch in disappointment, or rise up to help the world know that Jesus and His Church are with them and for them.

All of us at The Amazing Parish join you in lamenting the brokenness of some of our leaders, and in praying for the healing for victims of their abuse and everyone involved. And we continue to remind ourselves, in spite of our temptation to become bitter, that God brings good things from the darkest situations. He always has.

May we all increase our commitment to regular, communal prayer for the Church, Her leaders and all of God’s people.

Pat Lencioni | Co-founder
