2016 BISHOP’S LENTEN APPEAL Go forth as heralds of God’s mercy! Please pick up a pledge card today! During this Jubilee Year of Mercy, let’s join together do the Lord’s work – works that touch the lives and souls of thousands of people in our diocese. To date, we have reached 75% of our goal of $159,000.00. Parishioners have pledged over $119,300.00 to the Appeal. FINANCIAL STATEMENTS Financial statements for 2015 have been mailed to parishioners that contributed over $250. These statements are supplied as a courtesy to help with your taxes. Corrected statements were mailed to parishioners that contributed to both first and second collections in 2015. The second collection amount was not included in the original statement accidentally. Please watch your mail for an envelope marked “CORRECTED STATEMENT”. We apologize for this error. Parishioners contributing to CTR electronically received a separate statement from Faith Direct. STOP HUNGER NOW POST-EVENT THANK YOU NOTE Thank you so much to everyone who participated in any way in our second annual Stop Hunger Now (SHN) packaging event. Your enthusiasm and generosity allowed us to package 50,000 meals! Over 350 volunteers from our parish, the ADAMS Center, local schools and the community at large set up the event, put the meals together, boxed them, loaded them onto the truck ready for shipping, and cleaned up Atonement Hall afterwards….. All in just a few hours on Saturday March 5. The joy of working together to alleviate hunger among people we will most likely never meet was palpable. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you! Your eagerness, generosity and willingness to reach out made this event possible. REGULATIONS ON FAST & ABSTINENCE Everyone over 14 years of age is bound to observe the law of abstinence. Abstinence from meat is to be observed on all Fridays within the season of Lent and Passiontide and on Ash Wednesday. On Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, everyone over 18 and up to the beginning of their 60th year is also bound to observe the law of fast. On these two days, only one full meatless meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one's needs; but together they should not equal another full meal. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, therefore, are the only days of both fast and abstinence.

Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord
Holy Week has begun! The somber memories we have of ashes on our foreheads gives way to the pageantry of waving palms and the heralded news of Jesus’ “triumphant” entry into the sacred city of Jerusalem.
Yet even amidst the hopeful readings that usher in his arrival, we are confronted with the long narrative of his Passion and death. We will hear this narrative again and take it into our Holy Week rituals, especially during the Easter Triduum: Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.
As we enter into Holy Week, let us remember those who are preparing to celebrate Easter Sacraments of Initiation:
Baptism, Confirmation, Communion, and for all those faithful who come to renew their baptismal vows and
commitment to being members of Christ’s Risen Body.
