Luke 21v 1-4 (Message) Just then he looked up and saw the rich people dropping offerings in the collection

plate. Then he saw a poor widow put in two pennies. He said “The plain truth is that this widow has

given by far the largest offering today. All these others made offerings that they’ll never miss; she gave

extravagantly what she couldn’t afford- she gave her all!”

We sometimes feel that our own modest lives and contribution to the work of Jesus counts for very

little when others make a loud noise or seem to be so much more successful. In the text above, Jesus

turns the world on its head and emphasises that He notices - what is important is to be wholly sincere

and give your all. This Christmas in our own small way let’s give our all to family and friends around us,

battered and bruised by the last year and let them see something of Christ in us.

Christmas Services Now that our Government has confirmed Covid regulations for Christmas celebrations, we

can confirm our schedule for services celebrating Advent and Christmas.

Beginning this Sunday, 6th December we will again hold live services in church. We will rigorously

apply safety guidelines so that you may experience the joy of worshiping God in person. You must

pre-book with Sue Morgan prior to arriving. People without a booking may have to be refused

entry, if numbers are too great.

If you prefer or need to be more Covid – cautious, please tune in to our online services which will

also continue offering worship, prayer and scripture to celebrate God’s goodness during this

season of Advent and Christmas.

All are welcome to worship, at either or both types of service, in-person at church, or online, at home.

The service will include Christmas carols and musical performances from the Queen’s Six, Tamesis Choir and Windsor Boys and Girls School. Poems will be

God’s Judgement in Isaiah: Our next bible study will be led by Andrew Giles and will

continue the analysis of Book of Isaiah, following the excellent sharing we have had in the

previous 4 sessions. He will be tackling the tough question of how we make sense of God’s judgement in

Isaiah and the Old Testament generally. We will debate why it is good to hear it and what we can take away

from it. Contact Andrew Giles for more details.

Community Groups are allowed back under Tier 2 rules We are welcoming back any groups that contact us that wish to meet at church. Any group restarting must be providing voluntary or charitable services or supervising activities provided for children. Purely “social” groups are not yet allowed. In addition, all groups must provide All Saints Dedworth with a risk assessment for their use on our premises. Mini Maestros will be restarting on Friday, 4th December

A Message from Sue Morgan, Church Warden

Dear Parishioners, November has rolled to its end and the daylight hours are now short, making the darkness of the night

seem longer. Do not despair. God is still with us, especially in the darkness. Because of the mess that the

world is in, His light will shine the more brightly through us, if we allow it to. So, whatever you are

feeling, get your Bible out and read Ephesians 1v3-23.

We are talking about spiritual blessings here. What could be more important than these? It is good to be

reminded of these things at this stage of any year, but especially now, in the times in which we are

currently living. Think on verses 5-8, and I will mention a few phrases that jump off the page to my

attention; He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ; in him we have redemption

through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses according to the riches of his grace that he lavishly

bestowed on us. Do we realise just how much we are loved by God?

Love from Sue Morgan

Vicar Recruitment Update: Section 12 Meeting

On 23rd November, a letter was sent to Stephen Pullin, Archdeacon and Rhodri Bowen Parish

Development Advisor announcing the results of the Section 11 meeting and forwarding our final

drafts of the parish profile and vicar specification. We are now awaiting a date for the Section 12

meeting. At this meeting we will be joined by the Archdeacon, or his representative, to finalise our

advertising and recruitment strategy. We will be given the date when to go ahead. We hope this

will be early in 2021 so that we can attract candidates and set a date for the selection day in the

New Year. We hope to invite members of the congregation to attend in person or virtually.

Building Update The guttering contractors have been back to try and fix the leakages from the boards above the front

entrance to the porch building and Cross Roads office. They have applied sealant round the guttering as a

cost-effective fix, If this does not work then it is a larger job to reconfigure the roofing design, involving

removal of a significant number of tiles. We will monitor the situation!

The entrance to the café is no longer boarded up! Adam Parsonage has finished the door. He has sealed the

new section of the frame and fitted two, slim-style, mortice deadlocks. He has also added more two steel

brackets to the smaller door leaf, which was sealed shut. This should now be absolutely rock solid.

On Saturday, 21st November Mike Brooks applied primer with Ken Kilner’s help. Matthew Kilner was roped

into clearing all the autumn leaves round the church guttering at the same time! Thanks go to them all.

The West Windsor Hub is gearing up for Christmas in Tier 2. Food

hampers are being prepared for 20 + families and the 50 children who are part of them.

Windsor being classified as Tier 2 has meant that many people do not feel safe and some of the people who used us in the summer lockdown are coming back to us for help with their shopping.

Unlike some organisations round the country, West Windsor Hub plans to be open during the Christmas holidays. It is likely that the Hub will be open on Tuesday 22nd, December Wednesday 23rd December and Thursday 24th December. Times are subject to confirmation. The needs of our community - like the virus – do not take a break for Christmas! “There are always people that need help and it’s good to help people!” said manager, David Flanagan.

The Hub needs more volunteers, so if you can devote some time to helping us meet the needs of the community in Dedworth, please ring the Hub help number 01753 342110
