The 4th Sunday of Advent!!! Come Lord Jesus,

Come! We invite our lord to come even though we

are aware that HE is here with us. As each small

miracle as well as each large miracle happens in each of our lives

we still find amazement in His compassion & mercy. The birth of

a baby is new every time. The gift of our Lord is new every time.

Come Lord Jesus, Come!

WE are hosting an all parishioners TRAINING (all of you who

trained @ another time do not HAVE to attend. Please know you

are welcome though) @ 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 10th in the

parish hall. All who are involved with Family Promise & all

who are interested are invited to come & learn about the pro-

gram. It will take about 1 ½ hours. Sharon Odden, Director of

Family Promise Great Falls is our presenter. Please plan to at-

tend. Understanding the Program helps us become more confident

in our ministries. It helps to know what is expected when we work

at the Monsignor House & Family Promise. Please call Kathie at

781-5033 for more information.

“When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.” MATTHEW 1:24 Putting our complete trust in the Lord without expecting anything in return. Striving to put God first in all things and follow Him wherever He may lead us. As we prepare for the birth of our Lord, pray for the strength and courage to be a model of discipleship, just as Joseph was.

Musicians Rehearse on Wednesdays, in the church.

7-7:45: Weekend music / 7:45-8:30: Choral with

parts. (Enter through the side door, around to the right.)

All voices and most instruments are welcome to help

lead the music. Call Mary Dupuis for details.

Liturgical Tidbits: Forgiveness at Mass The sacrament of

reconciliation is the church’s special celebration of pardon,

but forgiveness of sins is also one of the fruits of the Mass.

There are many moments throughout the eucharistic celebra-

tion when the texts and gestures of the Mass express the

community’s sorrow for sins.

Stewardship

Courtesy Announcements

We begin with the penitential act, which may include striking

the breast in a simple gesture of sorrow. The presider then asks

that God have mercy on us and forgive our sins. During Easter,

this penitential rite is replaced with a sprinkling rite, signifying

our purification. While singing the Glory to God and the Lamb of

God, we ask the One who takes away the sins of the world to

have mercy on us. When the deacon or priest kisses the Gospel,

he prays that its words may wipe away our sins. While washing

his hands, the priest asks God to wash away his iniquity and

cleanse him of sin. During the Lord’s Prayer we all ask God to

forgive us our sins.

And, of course, the sharing of communion itself forgives sins

(Catechism of the Catholic Church 1393-94). The main purposes

of Mass are to express thanks and praise to God and to sanctify

the assembly through holy communion. But one of the other re-

sults is the forgiveness of sins.

The faithful who are aware of grave sin should celebrate the

sacrament of reconciliation before presenting themselves for

communion. Reconciliation is advised for all, no matter how light

our sins may be. But the faithful struggling with ordinary sinful

lives may find assurance that their participation at Mass will grant

forgiveness through word, gesture and sacrament. Paul Turner Copyright © 2012 Resource Publications, Inc., 160 E. Virginia St. #170, San Jose, CA 95112, (408) 286-8505
