Christmas 2009.
Well where did the last Twelve months go, Christmas 09 has
arrived far too soon and it’s that time again to wish you the best
of Christmases and Happiness and good Health for the
forthcoming year. It has been another busy year for me which
started with the preparation for Christmas on my own for thefirst time. I always though of my mother at this time of year
with 18 grandkids and 11 great grandkids, now I can appreciate
he stress she must have been under at this time of year. My
Christmas was great but not the same without Olivia. Hollie and
Duncan, Pat and Colin from Dunedin and PK and Peter from
Cromwell all celebrated Christmas Day at Walnut Grove, and a
great day it was with lots of food and drink.

Niki and Becky and there familys celebrated Christmas in there
own area so were not down in Cromwell at that time. Hollie,
Duncan and I saw in the New Year next door with the Webbfamily and friends, another great evening. And so the year
started, Old Cromwell had another Wine and Food Festival
which was a great success.

Rotary had another 4 X4 drive up in the mountains which went
off well; I helped once again with the end of the day BBQ
Hollie and I went to the west coast for a day trip, it was a good
day but rained all the time we were there. We had lunch at the
Cromwell Pie cart which is parked up at Jackson’s bay. It was a
great to relax away from Cromwell.
Hollie and Duncan decided to ride a part of the rail trail and take
me along, just a day ride, just a few kilometres as it had been a
few years since I had been on a bicycle. Wow what a ride, 63 k
and 8 hours later we were at our destination for the car ride
home. I had not been on a bike for 43 years so you can imagine
how I felt. A fantastic day but never again.

special occasion for family and friends, this was celebrated in
Dunedin and a great time was had by all, there wedding will be

south of Queenstown, don’t ask how many fish we caught.
Duncan’s parents Pat and Colin came over for a few days. One
of Olivia’s cousins has also been over a few times from
Dunedin for a visit.
Easter and the school holidays ran together this year so Niki
John and kids came down for a short break and Hollie and
Duncan came over as well, we all had a good time together.

In May I decided to get away for a break driving from
Cromwell to Auckland visiting as many friends and relations on
he way as I could. One of the highlights was to catch up with
Roly and Mary Hume in Mt Maunganui on the weekend of D-
Day celebrations so could catch up with the celebrations at the
airport. I was away from Cromwell for three weeks.
