CHS Staffing Times Issue 1, 2016 Summer Means Students at CHS CHS is counting down to the end of finals week. Why? Because we can’t wait to see the familiar faces of our returning student employees and meet the talented new students who will apply with us this summer! We know our client companies are counting down too. Our student employees bring to the table strong skills, a unique perspective and the latest knowledge their field of study has to offer. Companies can benefit from their contributions during the summer months when many facilities are busy with extra workload, and often face a dwindling internal staff pool due to scheduled vacations. Our student employees value the flexibility of temporary summer work and the opportunity to put what they’ve learned into practice, in turn making them more valuable to future employers post graduation. Many of our students even return to the same facility where they worked the prior summer. With good wages and weekly paychecks, CHS is a popular stop for students. If you know someone looking for summer work, now is the time to visit CHS, so send them our way! Don’t forget, if the employee you refer works 40 hours for CHS, you will be eligible for a referral bonus from us. Two Prestigious Awards for One Special Leader Congratulations to our own Carol Harris for being selected for the second time as winner of the Pittsburgh Business Times 2016 “Business Women First” award. This award honors the top women executives in Pitts- burgh and focuses on the professional accomplishments as well as philanthropic and civic involvement of the nominees. Carol was also selected as one of 2015’s “Top 100 People” by the PA Business Central. Carol was chosen for this award from an extensive list of some of the most enterpris- ing individuals throughout Pennsylvania who have been advancing their communities through job creation, chari- ty, and hard work. 2015 marked Carol’s second time ap- pearing on this prestigious list. We at CHS could not be more proud of Carol for her ac- complishments. Carol continues to lead our organization with integrity, creative vision and tenacity, and to position herself at the forefront of the community through her con- sistent devotion to volunteer engagement and charitable generosity. Congratulations, Carol, for these well deserved awards! Published by Carol Harris Staffing, LLC

Comments from Carol Harris

Wednesday, April 27th, 2016 is Administrative Professionals Day, and what better time to say THANK YOU to the mem-bers of our team who “make it all happen” on a daily basis.

If your organization is anything like mine, your ad-ministrative professionals are superheroes in dis-guise. Their powers include mind reading, being in multiple places at once, working faster than a speeding bullet, and seeing into the future to antici-pate needs. Anyone who has spent time observing an administrative professional at work cannot help but to feel a sense of awe and admiration for what one person can accomplish in a day. The mark of a really special ad-ministrative professional though is the ability to make it all look effortless, and to exe-cute challenges with a bright smile and a kind word. I’m proud to say that our fantastic admins are the heart of the CHS organization. Hats off to all of the Administrative Professional Office Heroes out there!!

CHS Honored “Best Place to Work”

CHS was named to the Pittsburgh Business Times list of Best Places to Work in Western Pennsylvania for the ninth consecutive year.

Anonymous employee survey responses are tallied by an ob-jective third party company in order to determine selection and ranking. This feedback of-fers CHS distinctive insight into our employees’ experience and perspective on their individual role as it relates to the company as a whole. These results guide our direction to build an engaged and empowered workforce, and to enact change in those areas where we can grow.

In response to questions about their employee ex-perience, some anonymous comments shared were:

“Our leaders build trust by ‘walking the walk’ and setting an example with their own personal hard work and dedication.”

“They care! They get to know our strengths and weaknesses and support us in both. They get to know us personally and professionally. The door is always open.”

CHS extends our warm congratulations to the other winning companies, and our heartfelt thanks to our entire team for making CHS a great place to work!

Warmest gratitude to all of our clients who nominated their favorite charity for a gift from CHS in the annual Charity Donation Drawing. We were so pleased with the influx of nominations this year, and are grateful for the opportunity to support the work of these incredible organizations while celebrating our clients and the charities they value most. The winning charities received a generous donation in the name of the nominating client along with a per-sonalized note acknowledging the nominator. Our charity winners were:

Caring for our Community

In response to a suggestion from an internal staff member, CHS partnered with Narrow Gate Ministries Church in Bridge-ville to collect warm sweaters, coats, hats, gloves, scarves and socks for local homeless men, women and children during a service event held in West Park Court this winter. Our staff was pleased to have gathered more than 10 over-stuffed garbage bags full of items to keep our community members warm. While collecting donations, our team was moved to learn these poignant facts gleaned from a 2014 re-port by Keystone Crossroads with PA HUD data analysis: Veterans account for 15% of Pittsburgh’s homeless popu-

lation.

45% of people experiencing homelessness in PA are part of a family unit.
