HELP UNITINGAID! REMEMBER
Sunday 26th November 2017
During the Congregational Meeting following the service, 22 ideas
for revival of Worship in the 21st Century will be debated.
The Joint Nominating Committee’s recommendation for filling the vacant placement at All Saints Floreat is also on the agenda.
Please stay for these important discussions.
The word worship comes from the Old English word: ‘woerthship’, a ceremony or drama which expresses what we
deem to be of great worth to us. Our Service is also called the Liturgy, a word from the Greek
meaning ‘works of the people’ because it describes the way we recharge our spiritual batteries so that we can play our part in
the creativity that permeates God’s universe.
Worship with the Forests
The Liturgy today is inspired by the Church’s Seasons of Creation – Forests. Forests enabled humans as the highest
form of life to evolve and are an expression of God’s grace. Forests continue to be vital
for sustaining human existence. Their fragile future is entrusted to our care.
Today will feature music from an ancient Scottish bag pipe made from a South American ebony. We celebrate this
instrument’s restoration by Lewis Weeda who will be playing during the service.
Prayers of the People: The Congregation will be invited to share their Joys and Concerns from where they are seated using one of our radio microphones. To symbolise the ripple effect of each prayer, as each Joy or Concern is shared, our Elder, Els Mengler, will place a pebble
into the bowl of water on the Communion Table. Individuals are also welcome to come forward to make a silent prayer
and place a pebble in the water. Worship is also about celebrating our togetherness, leading us to the challenge of creating new forms of
liturgy that attracts the under 40s generation. Richard Smith
THE CRÈCHE (rear of the Sanctuary) is available for parents of small children to make
use of at any time during church services.
HEARING IMPAIRED can use the audio loop on the first 6 middle pews (both left and right) facing
the Communion Table; a T-switch is required on your hearing aid. NOTE! - Each Sunday the Family Service is recorded on CD. Please
contact Bob Sumner if you would like a copy of the service.

Help OUTCARE make Christmas special for those children who will be without their fathers at this time.
For many of these children, the gift you give will be the only gift they receive.
Please take a star from the Christmas tree, record your name on the gift sheet and bring back
your gift, suitable for a child of the age given … with the star attached !
Gifts must be back by 30 November for delivery to Hakea Prison by 1 December. NB. due to prison security gifts are not to be wrapped.
A list of gift ideas is beside the tree. Margaret Oliver 9387 2228
Outcare is a non profit organisation which provides services to families whose loved ones are incarcerated. Many children’s lives have been severely
affected by a parent entering prison and it is difficult for families to see Christmas as a special time.
A Big Thank You! Chaplaincy Quiz raised in excess of $1,800! A big thank you to all who attended or helped on the night, also to the many who donated
prizes. It was a great night with a wonderful set of questions and greatly enjoyed by all.

With hundreds of thousands of Rohingya families desperately
needing emergency help, your Retiring Offering next week will go to
the Act for Peace Rohingya Crisis Appeal. Family homes,
neighbourhoods and entire villages have been torched to the ground.
People are being killed as they desperately try to flee for safety.
Already, more than 400,000 people are estimated to have crossed the
border in Bangladesh seeking refuge from the violence. Those who
have made it to Bangladesh are struggling to survive in extremely
poor conditions, lacking access to even the most basic necessities.
With the number of people seeking
sanctuary in Bangladesh set to
increase to over 500,000 over the
coming days, your support is needed
more than ever to help provide
emergency shelter, food, medication
and medical care for families who
desperately need it.
