BLESSED MOTHERS’S ALTAR FLOWERS In Celebration of the 50th Wedding
Anniversary of Michael & Teri Yetsko
ST. JOSEPH’S ALTAR FLOWERS In Memory of the Deceased Family and Friends of
Michael & Teri Yetsko
This Weekend’s Scripture First Reading: Genesis 14:18-20 Melchizedek, a priest of God, prayed that Abram would be blessed by God. He also praised God for delivering Abram's foes into his hands. Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 Paul describes Jesus' actions during the last supper. Jesus broke bread and said it was his body given for us, asking that we do the same in remembrance of him. He then passed the cup and called it his blood. Jesus then asked us to break bread in this manner to remember his death until he returns. Gospel: Luke 9:11b-17 Jesus spoke to a large crowd when his disciples asked that he dismiss the people to give them a chance to find food and lodging. Jesus asked the disciples to give the crowd something to eat, but they had only five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus then blessed and distributed the food, which fed about 5,000 people. Twelve baskets were then collected from what was left over.
A Stewardship Thought . . .
“They all ate and were satisfied. And when the leftover fragments were picked up, they filled twelve wicker baskets.” (Luke 9:17)
The story of the Loaves and Fishes shows us that when we share what we have, even if it doesn’t seem like that much, miracles can happen! Do not think that your gift is too small or insignificant! God blesses all the gifts we offer and makes them wondrous.

News from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul When you help us, we help others
Summer is officially here and our next general meeting won’t be until September. However we’ll still be busy helping the poor of our community. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance please contact us through the parish office. In the past we’ve helped people with rent, utility, groceries, medicines, special dietary requirements and many other needs. No work of charity is foreign to our society. In the name of Christ we are here to help and to serve. Please put us to work.
The SSVdP at OLV has a very active food pantry. Through your generosity we help many low income families with much needed groceries. Could you please help us by donating non-perishable food items and toiletries? We gratefully accept all non-perishable food items however presently we’re running very low on the following: canned tuna and meats, pasta sauc-es, canned or packaged fruits, peanut butter, crackers, bathroom tissue, soups. Donations can be left in the church lobby after any mass. Thanks!
We are always looking for new ways to help those in need. Besides direct client assistance and the food pantry, we do back-to-school supplies, Christmas gifts, Easter baskets, and a Coat & Blanket drive. If you have any ideas for new ways we can accomplish our mission of bringing God’s love to those who are poor and suffering we’d love to hear from you. Contact us through our voice mailbox at the parish office. 732 257-0077.
When it’s time to get rid of an old vehicle please con-sider the SVDP National Vehicle Donation Program. It’s a tax deduction for you and your donation can be directed to specifically assist our SVdP conference here at OLV. For more information call 800 322-8284 or visit: http://svdpusa.careasy.org
