PARISH NEWS AND EVENTS

PARISH PILGRIMAGE: On Saturday October 5th, the First Saturday of the month of October, a group of eager pilgrims from St. Paul the Apostle boarded a luxury bus for our annual parish pilgrimage. This year our destination was not Washington, D.C., nor was it Pennsylvania. Instead we travelled to the Shrine of Our lady of the Island in Eastport in Suffolk County. Thanks be to God the weather could not have been more perfect. On our way to the Shrine we prayed the Holy Rosary and the Angelus. We arrived safely at the shrine enjoying the sunshine, beautiful air, and the cool breezes. We arrived just in time for the beginning of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. How proud I was of our dear pilgrims who prayed so fervently. The Adoration was followed by the Rosary (yet another time) and Holy Mass. Then we enjoyed a delicious lunch. After lunch we enjoyed the beautiful grounds of the Shrine, walking up the Avenue of the Saints toward the beautiful statue of Our Lady on a great boulder. It is one of the highest places in all Long Island. There we prayed the Hail Holy Queen, the Memorare, the Consecration to Our Lady, and our pilgrims received the Apostolic Pardon which is given to all who make this pilgrimage. After our Rosary Walk, we departed to return to St. Paul’s. We prayed the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy on the bus and arrived safely at St. Paul’s. We were all tired but spiritually refreshed by such an uplifting pilgrimage. We know that many graces will come to St. Paul’s through this pilgrimage. Thanks to Mrs. Gina Cinelli, Mrs. Ursula Coughlin, Mrs. Louise Shannon, Mrs. Paula Maturo, Mrs. Anne Maione, and all who worked so diligently to make this day so grace filled. NEW MASS SCHEDULE: After consultation with the Pastoral Council and after hear ing the requests of many parishioners, I have decided to change the time of the Saturday Evening Mass from 5.00PM to 4.00PM. This change will commence on the First Sunday (Saturday) Evening of Advent, November 30, 2019. It is my hope that this change in time will be of great benefit to our parishioners. The Sunday Schedule will remain unchanged, (Mass at 8.00AM; 9.30AM; and 11.00AM). Confessions will also be moved up by one hour…Confessions will be heard from 3.00PM until 3.45PM. As I am sure many of you know, our parish is served by only one priest and one deacon. We must make realistic accommodations to our present condition.

BLESSING OF THE NEWLY RENOVATED CHURCH AND CONSECRATION OF THE NEW BAPTISMAL FONT: Many are aware that on Sunday October 27th Bishop Barres will come to our parish to bless the newly renovated Church and consecrate the new Baptismal Font. This will be an historic event in the life of our parish and, interestingly, occurs on the exact 50th anniversary (October 27, 1967) of the Dinner/Dance celebrating the building of the Church. Everyone is most cordially invited to this wonderful celebration. There will be a reception afterward to which all are most cordially invited. (Please see the bulletin elsewhere for the invitation). The Pastors of our deanery will be present as will the Mayor of Brookville Daniel H. Serota, and many of the Village Officials. To those who have chosen to be part of this great enterprise for God’s glory may I express sincere gratitude. I myself have pledged three months of my own salary, little as it is, to this great enterprise. To those who, for one reason or another, have not chosen to be part of this enterprise (no donation is too little) may I express sincere gratitude. For all will receive the same blessing of the beauty of holiness as will the generations to come, Through the infinite merits and the great and abundant mercy of Our Lord Jesus Christ. To Him be glory, now, and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

In Jesus and Mary,

Monsignor James F. Pereda

The Miracle of the Sun, also known as the Miracle of Fátima, was an event that

occurred on 13 October 1917, attended by a large crowd who had gathered in Fátima, Portugal, in response to a prophecy made

by three shepherd children.

ST. PAUL’S CONSOLATION MINISTRY

NEEDS YOU!

Our parish is richly blessed to have a few wonderful volunteers who make up the Ministry of

Consolation team. The most valuable gift we can give are the gifts that

come from the heart. The precious gifts of our time, love and compassion are especially needed

during the time of the loss of a loved one. This ministry was created to provide warmth,

caring and personal attention to assist families in preparation for the Funeral Mass.

Please give some thought as to sharing your time and talents and being a part of this ministry’s call to

love and care for one another. Please call Gina Cinelli at 516-333-5611 if you would like to volunteer or have any questions.
