Happy Easter! – The celebration continues with The 2nd Sunday of Easter & Divine Mercy Sunday. Thomas the Doubter is fea-tured in today’s Gospel. How often does the devil lead us to doubt our own faith. “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nail marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” Yet today, by God’s grace, Thomas The Apostle is better known as Saint Thomas. When Jesus appeared to the twelve once again with Thomas present, He said to Thomas “Put your fin-ger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side. Do not persist in your unbelief, but believe. And then Jesus blesses us with the words, “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.” Have a Blessed Day. Happy Easter Season! Today is also known as Divine Mercy Sunday. We celebrate the boundless mercy of God, who throughout history has forgiven those who have turned away and want to be reunited with God. Jesus preached forgiveness extensively in his ministry, enshrining it in the prayer he taught his disciples. Now he tells his disciples (the first priests) “Receive the Holy Spirit, Whose sins you forgive are forgiv-en them” (John 20:22-23) Forgiveness is ours for the asking. God’s mercy is both a gift of which we are unworthy and a model for us to follow. Next weekend we will celebrate the Third Sunday of Easter . The readings at Mass will be taken from Acts 3: 13-15, 17-19; 1 John 2: 1-5; and Luke 24: 35-48. The Parish Council will meet this Monday, Apr il 12 at 7 p.m. in the new social hall. Our Parish Youth Group will be taking orders for T-shirts in the gathering space after Mass, this weekend and next weekend (4/17 & 18). This is a fundraiser to assist the youth with the expenses of their activities. There will be two slogans from which to choose & to be printed on the front of the t-shirts – “Catholic” or “Be The Light”. The colors available will be gray, black, yellow, sky blue, sapphire & rose. Sizes = S – XL will be $13 and 2XL – 3XL will be $15. Shirts will need to be paid for when ordered & will be available for pickup the weekend of May 8th. Next Sunday, April 18th, after the 12:30 p.m. Mass, our Spanish Community will resume the sale of hot food to be served in the new social hall or served to carry out. The Coronavirus protocol will be in effect, with music for the enjoyment of those who dine in. Pro-ceeds will benefit our Forward With Christ building project. Thanks again for your support. Thanks for Donations to the Pregnancy Center. You can be sure that they are greatly appreciated and will be put to good use. Food Closet donations collected dur ing the month of March amounted to $2082 and were donated to Matthew 25 Ministries in Harmony, who will distribute the food to the poor. A GRAND RE-OPENING of our monthly adult dinner group gatherings will take place from 5-7 p.m. in our new social hall on Sunday, April 25th. These fun social gatherings are open to all adult age parishioners and are sponsored by the Family Life Commit-tee. The Spaghetti with meatballs dinner will include bread.
