WORLD DAY OF THE SICK 2018 IN HOWTH PARISH
This year is the 26th Anniversary of World Day of the Sick, a day intro-duced by Pope John Paul II to invite prayers for the sick and those who are carers to the sick. The day is celebrated on 11th February, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. We invite all parishioners and visitors to write the name of loved ones who are sick or caring for the sick in a special book located on the table at the main door of the church. All the names in the book and all those of the parish who are sick and those caring for the sick will be remembered at the weekend Masses on 10th & 11th February.
A SPECIAL EDITION OF 'THE IRISH CATHOLIC' will be available in the church on 8th February. This edition will mark the 160th
Anniversary (11th February) of the Apparitions of Our Lady to
St. Bernadette at Lourdes. It will include accounts of the 1858 apparitions; a biography of St. Bernadette; photographs of papal visits to the shrine; and a recounting of the miracles attributed to Lourdes.
