Building Fund Collection There will be a collection this weekend for the parish Building Fund. These funds will be used to help with the maintenance costs of the parish.

During Lent: Mass will begin without the usual procession into the church. We ask the community to be quiet and meditate in silence five minutes before Mass. We will have Stations of the Cross, followed by Benediction every Friday night, 7:30p.m. Children of the parish are asked to share their pennies with the Poor of the World. A glass jar in the sanctuary labeled “Pennies for the Poor” is for the children to use during Lent. They can come up during the collection and place their money in the jar.

There will be no coffee and donuts today after the 9:00 Mass.

WE ARE TO BE TRANSFORMED Today’s showing forth of God’s glory is filled with a light that astonishes and reveals. Jesus transfigured on Mount Tabor energizes even the sleepy apostles, who see but cannot get hold of it. They can be forgiven for not apprehending the full meaning of this extraordinary vi-sion of a transfigured Jesus with Elijah and Moses. The whole of the Law and prophets is summed up here on this mountain. The transfiguration on Mount Tabor is handed over to us this Sunday. As Paul reminds us, it is we who are to be transformed. The light and life of the Resurrection are set forth here so we do not lose heart and fall entirely asleep. This Sunday looks to Easter. It looks to transformation. It asks us to lift up our heads and acknowledge the risen Lord as our light and our salvation. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

LETTER FROM POPE FRANCIS THE “JOY OF THE GOSPEL” CONTINUED...

The Church’s Missionary Transformation—#121 We are all missionary disciples Of course, all of us are called to mature in our work as evangelizers. We want to have better training, a deepen-ing love and a clearer witness to the Gospel. In this sense, we ought to let others be constantly evangelizing us. But this does not mean that we should postpone the evangeliz-ing mission; rather, each of us should find ways to com-municate Jesus wherever we are. All of us are called to offer others an explicit witness to the saving love of the Lord, who despite our imperfections offers us his close-ness, his word and his strength, and gives meaning to our lives. In your heart you know that it is not the same to live without him; what you have come to realize, what has helped you to live and given you hope, is what you also need to communicate to others. Our falling short of perfection should be no excuse; on the contrary, mission is a constant stimulus not to remain mired in mediocrity but to continue growing. The witness of faith that each Christian is called to offer leads us to say with Saint Paul: “Not that I have already obtained this, or am already per-fect; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own” (Phil 3:12-13). Fr. Terry’s Remarks— Last week we said we are all evangelizers by the wonderful gift of faith through Bap-tism. You don't need a degree in Theology to spread and witness your Redemption in Christ Jesus. Sometimes those with degrees talk over us most of the time. As an aunt of mine said to her husband after he had delivered an eloquent speech at one of his many daughters' wed-dings: '' That was a lovely speech, hubby, what did you say?'' By our smiles, with our gentleness, with wisdom acquired through grace and holy living, we graciously share the Good News with one another, realizing day by day the present and eternal potential wonder of our faith. We will desire to know and understand it better and then we are able to share more fully with our brothers and sis-ters. Every day we draw closer and closer to God, every day we are closer to our brothers and sisters without ex-ception. Not just are we ourselves enabled to live our Salvation more fully daily here in this life, at the same time we are helping those around us and far away to live their Salvation more joyfully and fruitfully. Pope Francis uses the words of the great Apostle Paul to illumine this truth: NOT that I have already obtained this, or am al-ready perfect; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own'' (Phil 3:12-13) What more encouragement do you and I need?
