    Student Welare Team

    The Student Welare Team comprises proessional and riendly sta qualifed

    to assist students in a broad range o areas, including counselling. The service

    is ree and confdential.

    English Language Support

    A comprehensive portolio o English language courses including Business

    and Academic English are oered by the CIC English language centre.

    Students seeking support with English language comprehension will beneft

    rom the English language support oered by CIC.

    Study Skills Sessions

    Students are encouraged to take advantage o the Study Skills Sessions oered

    at CIC. Typical skills targeted include academic and report writing, computer

    literacy and time management skills. The aim o the study skills sessions is to

    support students to achieve successul course outcomes as well as preparing

    students or urther study.

    Student & Administrative Services

    CIC employs riendly and interested sta to provide customer and

    administrative services to students. The aim o CIC sta is to promptly and

    eectively attend to students requests or access to services or inormation.

    Student Council

    The Student Council is a committee o CIC students whose role is to represent the voice o the CIC student body. The Student Council regularly meet withmanagement on student issues and ideas or improvement o the student experience. The Student Council seek to engage all CIC students by planning and

    organising social activities and student events ocussing on celebrations o cultural diversity.

    IT & Library Services

    Students have access to library services and computer acilities, internet, and email in labs and sel-access areas.

    Student Lounge

    Student lounges are provided or a place to relax or study with riends.

    Job Assistance

    Students who are seeking to prepare or employment can take advantage o

    the job assist sessions. In these sessions, students learn how to prepare and

    write a resume and cover letter, prepare and present at interviews and present a proessional attitude in the workplace. The job assistance program is open

    to all students and is a ree service.

    Higher Education at CIC

    The higher education accredited Diploma o Business and Bachelor o Business programs oered at CIC aim to:

    Diploma o BusinessThe higher education accredited Diploma o Business prepares students or employment or urther study.

    The diploma includes 8 business units introducing essential business knowledge areas o management, accounting, economics, commercial law, marketing,

    business inormation technology, communications and statistics. Increasing the employability prospects o graduates is the inclusion o a careers preparedness

    unit. This unit is undertaken in the second hal o the course.The unit aims to provide students with the confdence and ability to identiy opportunities or employment and approach prospective employers.

    Career Opportunities

    The Bachelor o Business (Accounting) has CPA accreditation and IPA membership and incorporates the Core Body o Knowledge in Business that is

    recommended by Certifed Public Accountant (CPA), Institute o Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA), National Institute o Accountants (NIA),

    Australian Institute o Management (AIM), Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) and the Australian Market and Social Research Society (AMSRS).

    Career Opportunities

    Graduates will be well placed to begin a career in a variety o accounting based roles. Because o the strong Management Accountant units in this degree,

    uture corporate senior management positions may be possible.

    Bachelor o Business (Management)

    The Bachelor o Business (Management) equips graduates with the skills and knowledge to work in middle management roles in a variety o public and private

    industries. This program will develop business and leadership skills and give students the ability to manage people successully. The course also ensures that

    The Diploma o Marketing will show students how to interpret market trends, manage marketing budgets, plan market research and identiy and evaluate marketing

    opportunities. In addition to enhancing their marketing knowledge base, students will be provided with the tools to develop and apply managerial skills.

    Course Delivery

    The Certifcate IV and the Diploma are both delivered over 2 terms. The study mode is ull time (20 hours per week).

    BSB41307 Certifcate IV in Marketing

    The Certifcate IV in Marketing will provide students with

    marketing skills and knowledge and develop their ability to

    apply these skills and their knowledge across a variety o

    marketing contexts.

    Students will develop their ability to analyse and evaluate

    inormation, undertake market and product research, oster

    client relationships and proessional networks and prepare

    proessional marketing documents, plans and presentations.

    Career Opportunities

    Completion o the certifcate IV will prepare students to undertake job roles such as

    marketing ofcer, marketing research ofcer or public relations ofcer. Completion o the

    diploma will provide students with the skills and knowledge to undertake job roles such as

    The Diploma o Business is a practical course ocusing on a wide range o operational business skills which

    are necessary in any business setting. Students will develop skills and knowledge in administration, human

    resources, inormation technology, marketing and advertising.

    BSB51107 Diploma o Management

    The Diploma o Management ocuses on building communication, leadership and planning skills which are

    undamental in all managerial positions. Trainees will develop a broad range o skills such as managing set

    tasks, people, budgets and fnancial plans.

    Course Delivery

    The Diploma o Business is delivered over two 10-week terms with a 2-week break between each term. The study mode is ull time (20 hours) per week.

    Career Opportunities

    Graduates o the Diploma o Business will obtain practical skills and knowledge in business operations which may lead to job roles such as administrator, ofce

    Students wishing to complete the two qualifcations may be able to complete them within a shorter timerame via credit transer arrangements. Students who

    Undertaking this qualifcation will provide students with the skills and knowledge required to repairand maintain mechanical systems and components o motor vehicles weighing up to 4.5 tons.

    AUR40208 Certicate IV in Automotive Technology

    Students will be prepared to perorm advanced diagnostic and repair operations in an automotive retail,service or repair environment upon completion o this qualifcation.

    Course Delivery

    Certifcate III is delivered over 5 terms and Certifcate IV is delivered over a urther 3 terms. The study

    mode is ull time (20 hours per week).

    Career Opportunities

    The certifcate III prepares students to enter the automotive industry and in particular to perorm

    SIT30807 Certicate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery)

    This qualifcation provides students with the skills and knowledge to work in a variety o hospitality

    settings. Students are given instruction in, and practise a variety o culinary techniques used in localand world cuisines.

    SIT50307 Diploma o Hospitality

    The diploma ocuses on building communication, leadership, and planning skills relevant to thehospitality industry. The course will prepare students to undertake managerial roles in hospitalityenterprises including restaurants, hotels, clubs and caes.

    Course Delivery

    The certifcate III is delivered over 5 terms and the diploma is delivered over a urther 3 terms. Bothqualifcations have a compulsory work placement which is undertaken at Pan Pacifc Hotel under the

    supervision o CIC trainers. The study mode is ull time (20 hours per week).

    Career Opportunities

    Upon completion o the certifcate, students will be able to seek employment as a qualifed cook.

    Upon completion o the diploma, students will be able to seek entry into managerial roles in a smallhospitality setting or in a department o a larger hospitality venture.

    Course Delivery

    The certifcate III is delivered over 2 terms with an additional 4-week work placement requirement. Thecertifcate IV is delivered over 3 terms with a 2-week work placement requirement. The study mode isull time (20 hours per week).

    Career Opportunities

    Completion o the qualifcations will prepare students to undertake a variety o support roles includingaccommodation support ofcer, personal care assistant or community support worker. Completion othe certifcate IV will also prepare students to undertake co-ordination or supervisory duties.

    Bachelor o Business (Accounting)

    When I frst came to Melbourne to study English at CIC, I could hardly speak

    any English. One year later, Im now studying the Bachelor o Business

    (Accounting) course in Cambridge. I cant believe the progress Ive made.

    The course is amazing. I got to know a lot o people rom dierent countries,

    and the activities in the classes taught us how to work in groups. My teachers

    are antastic and they are always happy to help me with my studies whenever

    I need help. Besides that they are also really supportive and patient, and Im

    happy that they understand English is not my frst language.

    The quality o the lectures are excellent too. Our teachers know how to

    combine studying with a great and un teaching environment and that

    makes the studies much more enjoyable. I am very glad I made the decision

    to come to Australia and study at Cambridge International College!

    Students who complete the Certifcate IV in Spoken and Written English are eligible to enterdirectly into the Vocational and Higher Education programs at Cambridge International College

    Progress Testing

    At the end o each 5-week study block students are progress tested and are required to attend an interview with their teacher to discuss how to urther

    develop their strengths and improve any weaker areas.

    Teaching Sta

    Fully qualifed, experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated, CICs teachers deliver well prepared and stimulating lessons at all levels. All teachers have a Bachelor

    level qualifcation and a recognised TESOL qualifcation.

    Entry to the English Programs

    All English programs except the General English program require evidence o a sufcient level o English profciency or entry into the program. General English

    students are tested or profciency in the broad skill areas o Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing and Grammar during Orientation and are placed in the

    appropriate level. A test may be taken prior to arrival however students are re-tested upon arrival to confrm their English language level.

    FREE English EXTRAS

    In addition to classes, students can participate in CICs FREE English Extras. These small workshops ocus on dierent areas o English, such as pronunciation,

    grammar, vocabulary, listening and more and provide students with a great opportunity to improve their English quickly and eectively.

    CIC has an excellent reputation or oering an extensive range o high quality English language courses to

    students rom over 40 dierent countries. Designed to suit students with a variety o study requirements,

    English language instruction is oered rom Elementary through to the Advanced levels.

    Course Delivery

    All courses are oered on a ull-time basis o 20 hours per week.

    In addition, up to 5 hours o scheduled ree EXTRA classes are

    oered. These EXTRA classes comprise hour long sessions in

    areas such as Pronunciation, Grammar, Listening and Discussion.

    Real Lie Settings - ExcursionsEvery 5 weeks students enjoy excursions to interesting city destinations

    and attractions. Teachers prepare out-o-class learning activities so

    that students develop a greater level o confdence through practising

    their English skills in real lie settings.

    General English

    With its communicative approach, the General English program teaches students to use English in a wide range o social situations and day to day contexts.

    Covering all levels rom Elementary through to Advanced, the course ocuses on the core language skills o speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar,

    vocabulary and pronunciation.

    Academic English

    The Academic English course is designed or those students preparing to enter VET or Bachelor level programs including CICs own Bachelor programs.

    Students ocus on academic skills such as essay writing, delivering oral presentations, reading and note-taking rom academic texts, listening and note-taking

    rom lectures, developing critical thinking and research skills, and group work.

    Business English

    The Business English program is ideal or students wishing to gain knowledge, vocabulary and skills specifc to a business environment. Students develop the

    skills to conduct meetings, write ormal reports, and give presentations in a business context.

    IELTS Preparation

    The IELTS test is globally recognised, and is oten the key to gaining entry to tertiary institutions. Specifcally designed to optimise a candidates IELTS exam

    results, the IELTS preparation course is oered at Upper Intermediate and Advanced level. The course targets specifc skill development across all o the required

    areas and ocuses strongly on test practice. Students are challenged to develop their skills to the highest possible levels.

    Cambridge Exam Preparation

    CIC oers intensive classes to prepare students or the FCE & CAE, awards at Upper Intermediate and Advanced levels respectively, under the Common

    European Framework o Reerence. The 10 to 12 week courses ocus on preparing students in the key areas o the exams: Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing

    and Language Skills. Classes are small, and practice exam papers orm a key part o these programs.

    Cambridge Exam Preparation (Computer-Based)

    CIC Perth is an ofcially recognised testing centre or computer-based Cambridge Exams (FCE, CAE & PET). To prepare students or the computer-based FCE

    exam CIC oers computer-based FCE exam preparation courses. The course is very similar to the FCE preparation course or the paper-based exam, but includes

    plenty o digital test practice.

    Certicate IV in TESOL

    Successul completion o this program leads to a nationally recognised qualifcation in Teaching English as a Second Language. Suitable or anyone wishing to

    teach ESL to adults in Australia or overseas, the program ocuses on the latest communicative teaching methods and planning and delivery o eective lessons.

    The program includes theory, practical teaching experience and TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) preparation.
