Jim Lyman had a challenge….His Son Eli was diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Lyman wanted the best for his son not just as a child but into adulthood as well. However, he was not too satisfied to learn that despite their excellent skills 88% percent of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders are unemployed. He was shocked that while many programs and services are available for Autistic children, few focused on employment and Adult life. It was Lyman’s dream to get autistic adults to be able to have competitive employment.

The creation of the farmTom Pinchbeck the owner of Pinchbeck Family Rose Farm in Guilford, CT. The farm had been going through tough times during 2008 and Tom was upset about having to close down the farm, until Jim Lyman approached him with the idea. Pinchbeck thought that this would be a great idea to keep the farm running and help employ Autistic Adults. This was the creation of Roses for Autism at Pinchbeck Rose Farm.

Roses for Autism is an employment training ground for individuals on the Autism Spectrum at Pinchbeck Rose Farm in Guilford, CT. These individuals can get hands on experience working on all aspects of running a Rose Farm, from packaging and processing orders by phone and online, working a cash register and interacting with customers to working in the largest single span Greenhouse in the United States.
