Leveraging PI System
l PI is more than capable to retain power system model. u Maintains history of model changes § Allows model recreation from the past in order to analyze information.
u Allows synchronization of ratings from external databases u Allows correlation of SCADA (e.g. PI Tags) with the model. u Allows views, for different users, to be created. § Substation View § Maintenance/Breaker View
u Can use AMR information to assist SCADA and customer call center applications.

Auto OneLine Graphics
l Time Sensitive Displays u Historical data playback u Ability to rerender displays based on changes to CIM model over time
u Always display the correct version of the display based on current time context
u Ability to support future data in PI AF 2.0 § Forecast Demand and Load Projections § Support LMP Decisionmaking

International Model Harmonization
l Code named “Reference Semantic Model” u Harmonizes § IEC CIM (Power system modeling) § ISA S95 & S88 (Process Planning and Execution) § MIMOSA (Maintenance) § ISO 15926 (Design Lifecylce) § UNCEFACT
§ More…. Allows more complete model information to be used in “different” views/roles of usage.

AF 2.0 Allows Template Simplification
l Flexible Node definitions allow users to extend number of ports and attributes of instances programmatically. u Instead of having Tank(2 port, 3 port, 4 port, etc…) can now have Tank with 2 ports.
u Allows CIM terminals to be modeled as ports § Allows displays to be cleaned up.

AF 2.0 Views
l Allow Business Intelligence to create better renderings of Model portions.

Summary
l Not all Microsoft technology is created equal.
l Not all CIM XML files conform to the standard.
l PR2 release/with Clients very important.
l Not all substation graphics are created equal
l History and views in AF 2.0 will play an important role.
