WHAT IS CINEMa®CAFé?

CINEMa®CAFé is an academic innovation within a one day (8 hours) that combines two awareness workshops, where attendees engage on a learning theme in a recreational and emotional context in a deliberate and rational decision, to stimulate the expression of individual and collective tacit knowledge, and to facilitate its elicitation. The knowledge obtained through the experience is made explicit with the deliverable issues, which can be used by participating organizations to continue the learning process.

The model was created by consultants Luisa Elena Sucre and Freddy Trujillo. Luisa Elena works cinema-workshop since 2003, an activity consolidated trough decoding the inner knowledge of more than 40 films and facilitating more than 300 cinema-workshops, which allowed to develop her own methodology and to obtain international recognition in this field. Freddy, a specialist in Marketing and Corporate Strategy, has developed several management models using software, standing as an expert in concept maps, which guide the experience in CINEMa®CAFé, as an academic modeler of seminar/workshops like The Value Proposition as well as an event manager, such the International Conference on Knowledge Management and Organizational Learning.

WHO SHOULD ASSIST CINEMa®CAFé?

Generally speaking all kinds of organization´s people. The target groups are senior, top and middle executives, and operating employees. The attendant composition varies according to the learning topic; eg. Cinema®Café on Client´s services is aimed at those involved in the value chain of customer services. The leadership themes are used to promote attitudes of managers, mentors, leaders, coaches, supervisors, monitors, etc... To enhance results, the exercise should involve people from different areas and levels.

WHAT IS THE CINEMa®CAFé STRUCTURE?

Each workshop involves a delicate process of selection and evaluation of pre-selected film productions, which seeks to identify the conceptual relevance and quality of the messages of the subject learning in each film, to decode the integrated knowledge by identifying learning scenes that underpin the central theme. Either to study the conceptual components of CINEMa®CAFé central theme, to draft the focus questions of conversational workshop at cinema and cafe meetings.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR MAKING AND DRIVING A CINEMa®CAFé

• The approach to a specific learning topic depends on the knowledge and expertise of the designer, pre-requisite to capture knowledge and conceptual assessment of the film, to decode the integrated knowledge, and to word the focused questions to the meaningful conversation sessions, in cinema and cafe workshops.

• Facilitator requires general knowledge of the subject and of the academic guidance as well as the ability to identify moments of truth but, especially, the competences to integrate the participants and to stimulate collective discernment for identifying the tacit inherent knowledge of participants, and the ability to isolate the concepts deployed during the workshop, and to develop basic concept maps to be delivered to participants after the CINEMa®CAFé workshop.

WHAT IS THE EXPERIENCE PROPOSITION OF CINEMa®CAFé?

Experience in each CINEMa®CAFé workshop is unique, even for those who repeat the program. The workshop is an experience that stimulates emotions and hits the senses, encouraging expression of individual and collective knowledge. Visual impulses (movies, presentations, images, decoration, colors, tablecloths, wall and even clothing - tentative), such as audio, including film’s sound tracks and musical programming, carefully selected, tasted and olfactory (popcorn, sausage, coffee and even food from the era - associated with the film, optional) and the significant conversations with participants in the workshop, make each event a unique exciting and transformational learning experience..!

WHAT IS THE VALUE ADDED BY CINEMa®CAFé?

Preliminary Concept maps and digital photos of the mural and artwork exercise are the "deliverable" which is supplied to assistants to the workshop within the next week, via email, are added and differentiating service that aims to project the learning process to be continued and internalized in the organization of each participant.

• Open - In Company, an option that allows the combination of multiple companies, with a minimum of 5 persons per entity.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN PARTICIPATE IN A CINEMa®CAFé?

The two components of CINEMa®CAFé, Movie-Workshop and Cafe Significant Workshop allow massive people participation; theoretically very large groups, 1,000 or more people, can participate: There must be special logistics and technology considerations for more than 200 people. The minimum number of participants is 12.
